Trauma to the nail can cause blackening of the nail because of injury to the nail bed and spillage of blood in nailbed.It does not sound like a fungal infection.This bleeding can resolve on its own and if the symptoms of severe pain persists then drilling of the nail to release the blood may have to be done.

What other symptoms are present? I understand your concern regarding this toe nail lesion. This could be due to infection, particularly fungal in nature, as well as nail trauma. Then went on line to a vitamin store and bought three different treatmnts for toe nail fungus. The one thing I used 2-3 times a day was nail repair tea tree oil and I bought oreagano oil caps and opened one of themand put the oil in the nail repair. It worked really well. I have been able to keep it under control. I use this 1 -2 times everyday! I apply it after every shower.
These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil)
Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone.It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist.

The only problem is my toe nails are getting darker. It started of by the small toe nail and spreading to every toe. I saw my GP and was put on Terbinafine and it stopped spreading but my toes remained black. I stopped taking the drugs because it could harm my liver function and I cannot be taking the drug all my life. The discolouring is spreading to other toes, it is embarrassing. What else can i do or use.

My daughter is taking Terbinafine for a fungal nail infection. Almost immediately after starting the course of tablets, she developed very deep red, itchy patches under her eyes which initially burn when she applies moisturiser and make up. Her doctor advised using Vaseline. She is midway through her second 3-month supply of meds having been told the condition may need 6-12 months of treatment. Is the skin discolouration permanent?
also have used vicks vapor rub trying to get rid of the skin folds, when they open back up they are very painful with yellow centers and red outside edges, the strange thing is these black particles or pebbles pop out of my skin when pulling and stretching outward trying to get rid of these skin folds so that my skin does not feel so tight. recently took terbinafine which seemed to help some in eliminating the some of the skin folds and white mark scars.
It could have been a few different kinds, but they usually prescribe terbinafine or itraconazole. Make sure to call your doctor to talk through what options would be best for you.
Ive had 2 biopsy not cancer. Dr thinking fungus . I was on antibiotics and am currently taking Terbinafine 250mg and Ketoconazole 200mg pill and cream and wash . I recently had a tooth pulled and gum filled with puss. maybe that was hindering my healing. so frustrated and worried.
I have used terbinafine cream for a week and my fungal infection almost went away.but after a week i started oral fluconazole with terbinafine cream.after few days again some fungal infection came...is it the side effect of fluconazole. ???
FYI, terbinafine is Lamisil cream. Terbinafine is the generic name. Otherwise, you will have to see a doctor.
miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral. If the symptoms persist then please consult a dermatologist.

Immediately I started applying Lamisil (terbinafine) every morning till today. All the redness and everything else is gone, but if I look at the skin from the side, I can still see the "circles" (in slightly different skin tone) where the fungi was located... does it mean that I'll have to keep on applying the cream for longer till I don't see those circles?
Also if I take my nail across it its like the skin on top will come off. Kinda like when you have a sunburn and you peel. Well thats the best I can discribe it. Any suggestions on what I can use or do would be great. Hot baths seem to help just a tad, but I cant spend my life in a bath tub...
Topical Terbinafine cream did not help doctor is treating with Ketoconazole 2% shampoo and topical Clindamycin 1%. I may be noticing a 10% increase in my normal gray follicles at two weeks treatment. I would love to send a picture.
