Avatar n tn These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil) Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone. It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist. Avatar n tn The main findings were that for reduced fungus, terbinafine was found to be significantly better than itraconazole and griseofulvin, and terbinafine was better tolerated than itraconazole. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onychomycosis What you have read is correct. You could discuss this finding with your doctor and get him to prescribe it for you. Since the treatment is long-term it is better to go with onr which is tolerated better by the body.
Avatar m tn As my rash improve a lot with itraconazole and fluconazole but not with terbinafine and griseofulvin, could we determinate what mycosis it is ? How long after taking oral fluconazole I have to wait to do the tests ? Thanks.
Avatar n tn I have been treated with Nystatin, Ketoconazole, Clotrimazole, Clotimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate, fluconazole and itraconazole, one at a time over many months. The red inflamed area has still not gone but is not painful anymore.. I have seen an internest, a dermatologist and an infectious disease specialist. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral. If the symptoms persist then please consult a dermatologist. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
Avatar f tn I would not take lamisil ever again. It is notoriously hard on your liver. Sporanox is really bad for the liver also.
Avatar f tn It shows that fungi and yeast are both getting resistant to the fluconazole and other anti-fungals that end in azole so the Terbinafine (Lamisil) is the alternative treatment. It is safe to put on the penis, and groin area externally as a cream or spray. For yeast they can give Terbinafin (Lamisil) or Amphotericin B if you are resistant to the other treatments, but that is harder on you and not a topical or if they have one it would be a prescription.
Avatar f tn Then a dermatologist suggested me terbinafine and fluconazole, but it dint give much result. I tried ketoconazole soap and oitment also and it got worse. Then again I tried itraconazole 100mg twice for a month, i was cured within 10 days. But again this recurrent jock itch keeps on coming back. I am tried of taking itraconazole and applying oitment, i even wear loose cotton undergarments and change it everyday. I keep the area clean and dry.
Avatar f tn Then I went for a check up and the doctor prescribed me itraconazole 100 mg and terbinafine 250 mg oral solution and Luliconazole cream. Infection was cured completely. But now again it has appeared on my body. Specifically on my neck. I am having the same oral solution and using Clotrimazole topical cream. But it's not effective like before. Instead of being cured it's spreading. I am also using ketoconazole soap for bathing.

Avatar m tn Immediately I started applying Lamisil (terbinafine) every morning till today. All the redness and everything else is gone, but if I look at the skin from the side, I can still see the "circles" (in slightly different skin tone) where the fungi was located... does it mean that I'll have to keep on applying the cream for longer till I don't see those circles?
Avatar m tn I used the cream Lamisil on my face before reading the instructions. Lamisil has the ingredient Terbinafine hydrochloride which I thought I needed for a condition I have but before I read the warning I used it. It states not to use on or near the mouth. After use I saw my lips get very white and after a couple of days it seemed like the top thin layer of skin came off: painless. I know its my fault for not reading the box but now my lips get very dry. They turn to an off-white color.
Avatar f tn My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment. I've heard so many bad things from hair loss, death, loss of taste and I'm so scared. I'm 21, a semester from graduating college and can't afford radical side effects from trying to cure nail fungus.
Avatar n tn Around the same time, I would masturbate and noticed a mild burning sensation, like a friction burn. Initially I thought it was from the lubrication I was using. So I used Lamisil for about a week and the itch has subsided for the most part. But I noticed two sore-like spots on my penis, one on the head and a smaller one on the shaft. No fluid, not raised.
Avatar f tn I read one case of a 25 year old that had a sinus fungal infection and it moved into the brain and he was given itraconazole and he died of stroke. I read a few patient comments and some did have a stroke after taking itraconazole. Some had been on meds but not all. I think it may be rare complication of the drug. Whether this is why he got a stroke is unknown for sure. I know this doesn't help much but that is all I could find on it.
Avatar f tn He referred to a Dermatologist. Administred Terbinafine-500mg (10days) and Fexofenadine-120mg (7 days) continued applying Miconazole but had no relief. She further advised me to take Levofloaxacin 750mg for 5 days together with appky Terbinafine Cream. But still no relief. Infection resurface with spreading to more areas.
Avatar f tn I am currently being treated by an infectious disease doctor, and he has me taking 100mg of Itraconazole per day. The name brand for Itraconazole is Sporanox. I still have this yeast infection! The medicine has not helped me yet. Why is this happening? I don't understand why merely taking an antibiotic for a sinus infection caused me to get a yeast infection that I just cannot get rid of? If there are other people that are in the same situation, please respond to my post.
Avatar m tn lamisil, flucanozole (i believe) and now vytone (iodoquinol/hydrocortizone). i've also tried lotrimin ultra which is butenafine. i've also had an STD test with negative results. PLEASE help i am at my wits end.

Avatar f tn It could have been a few different kinds, but they usually prescribe terbinafine or itraconazole. Make sure to call your doctor to talk through what options would be best for you.
Avatar m tn Also wear cotton underwear and change them twice a day and do not share other people’s towels. Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. Most cases of fungal infections respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole.
Avatar n tn I have a 2 and a haf year old son that I suspect has a fungus around the cuticle of his finger on his thumb. The thumb had been slammed inside a door or cabinet and it has never healed. I was wondering what would be the best fungal medication for him to take terbinafine or fluconazole I read on the internet that sporanox is not recommended. What do you think I should tell the doctor to prescribe for a two and a half year old that would be safe.
Avatar f tn My son has a red ring shaped patch on his face and the doctor prescribed lamisil. He said it's a ringworm. I started applying the product 2 days ago. I have some questions and I hope that you can kindly assist me. Is it safe for his age? Can he still go to swim while treating it? What about school, shall I cover it with a bandage? Thank you so much in advance for your help. This site is of great help. Thanks.
Avatar n tn All of the medications, except for theophylline and itraconazole, are known to be substrates of CYP3A. When given with grapefruit juice in pharmacokinetic studies their availability increases. In most cases, the clinical consequence of the pharmacokinetic interaction has not been evaluated. However, for midazolam and triazolam, as well as for buspirone, impairment of CNS function was observed, and for the calcium channel blocker felodipine greater blood pressure lowering has been observed.
Avatar f tn FYI, terbinafine is Lamisil cream. Terbinafine is the generic name. Otherwise, you will have to see a doctor.
