Avatar n tn The main findings were that for reduced fungus, terbinafine was found to be significantly better than itraconazole and griseofulvin, and terbinafine was better tolerated than itraconazole. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onychomycosis What you have read is correct. You could discuss this finding with your doctor and get him to prescribe it for you. Since the treatment is long-term it is better to go with onr which is tolerated better by the body.
Avatar f tn Then a dermatologist suggested me terbinafine and fluconazole, but it dint give much result. I tried ketoconazole soap and oitment also and it got worse. Then again I tried itraconazole 100mg twice for a month, i was cured within 10 days. But again this recurrent jock itch keeps on coming back. Avatar f tn Then I went for a check up and the doctor prescribed me itraconazole 100 mg and terbinafine 250 mg oral solution and Luliconazole cream. Infection was cured completely. But now again it has appeared on my body. Specifically on my neck. I am having the same oral solution and using Clotrimazole topical cream. But it's not effective like before. Instead of being cured it's spreading. I am also using ketoconazole soap for bathing.
Avatar n tn I have been treated with Nystatin, Ketoconazole, Clotrimazole, Clotimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate, fluconazole and itraconazole, one at a time over many months. The red inflamed area has still not gone but is not painful anymore.. I have seen an internest, a dermatologist and an infectious disease specialist. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I read one case of a 25 year old that had a sinus fungal infection and it moved into the brain and he was given itraconazole and he died of stroke. I read a few patient comments and some did have a stroke after taking itraconazole. Some had been on meds but not all. I think it may be rare complication of the drug. Whether this is why he got a stroke is unknown for sure. I know this doesn't help much but that is all I could find on it.
Avatar f tn He referred to a Dermatologist. Administred Terbinafine-500mg (10days) and Fexofenadine-120mg (7 days) continued applying Miconazole but had no relief. She further advised me to take Levofloaxacin 750mg for 5 days together with appky Terbinafine Cream. But still no relief. Infection resurface with spreading to more areas.
Avatar f tn It could have been a few different kinds, but they usually prescribe terbinafine or itraconazole. Make sure to call your doctor to talk through what options would be best for you.
Avatar n tn These include topical antifungals like econazole (Spectazole) or oxiconazole (Oxistat) and oral antifungals like Itraconazole (Sporanox),Fluconazole (Diflucan) or Terbinafine (Lamisil) Triamcolone acetonide is a more potent type of triamcinolone, being about 8 times as effective as prednisone. It should not be used to treat fungal infections without consulting a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.Kind regards.

Avatar f tn ketoconazole, fluconazole, itraconazole, terbinafine ( I have tried these 4 drugs in oral and topical form) I have also tried selsun shampoo and all of these have failed. I was wondering if there was anymore hope for me? Is there anymore antifungal pill I can take? Due to my rash not responding well to 3 azole antifungals does this mean it won't respond to any of the other azole antifungals? And are there anyother antifungal that are effective that arnt azole? P.
Avatar m tn If you search 'ketoconazole' online, the first link that popped up for me is from the NIH (National Institutes of Health in DC) and the second one is from the website 'rxlist', which is pretty good imo at explaining medical/scientific/pharmaceutical stuff at a high level but not completely over my head. Rxlist seems pretty well balanced, and I usually go there when curious about some medication I'm supposed to take.
569705 tn?1217017492 Most treatments are either systemic antifungal medications such as terbinafine and itraconazole, or topical such as nail paints containing ciclopirox or amorolfine. ref:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onychomycosis Those with eczema or other skin problems get ringworm [or other Onychomycosis related conditions] more easily because the protective barrier of the skin's outer layer is less intact.
Avatar n tn Diprolen gel (14 days) and a cutane solution of adrenal hormones (interval treatment 6 weeks; according to pharmacist this solution was the strongest available (prescription). 10 days of terbinafine cream (rubbed into scalp) - Pills: Broad spectrum antibiotics (3 months; folliculitis suspected, later ruled out), nizoral pills (3 weeks), fluconazole (50mg/day for 5 weeks), itraconazole (200mg/day for 9 weeks) -probably forgot something...
Avatar n tn ve tried using a different antifungal cream (Terbinafine) that I thought was helping because the irritation and dryness disappeared, but I then realized it was just because the cream was lubricating my foreskin. At times, usually after masturbation, my glans appears to be wrinkly, but this only lasts for a few minutes/hours. I am not actually sure if it has always been like this, but I suspect it has not.
Avatar f tn It shows that fungi and yeast are both getting resistant to the fluconazole and other anti-fungals that end in azole so the Terbinafine (Lamisil) is the alternative treatment. It is safe to put on the penis, and groin area externally as a cream or spray. For yeast they can give Terbinafin (Lamisil) or Amphotericin B if you are resistant to the other treatments, but that is harder on you and not a topical or if they have one it would be a prescription.
Avatar n tn My father was recently told that there is damage to his liver and was taking terbinafine. Will it heal itself now that he quit?
Avatar m tn s foot, which is a fungal infection, and it did nothing. I switched to the cream designed for jock itch, and that makes it start to disappear within HOURS. So, it is probably going to be the same with probiotics. Fortunately, you can buy all of the creams and probiotics over-the-counter in most countries, so you can quickly make a change if something's not helping after a week or so.
Avatar m tn I would like your opinion whether itraconazole treatment sounds suitable, and to know what others conditions could yield the symptoms I described.
Avatar n tn However, if the patient remains symptomatic after 4 weeks, therapy with itraconazole, 200 mg daily for 6 to 12 weeks, can be given. Patients who have severe outbreak-associated histoplasmosis and all immunosuppressed patients should be treated. Initial therapy with amphotericin B, 0.7 to 1 mg/kg daily, can be followed by oral itraconazole after a favorable response is noted. Antifungal therapy should be given to all patients with chronic pulmonary histoplasmosis.
Avatar f tn I suffering this problem 7 years scrotum itching and penus I use luliconazole creem itraconazole capsule but my problem are not solve
Avatar m tn Many orazl antifungals are used like Griseofulvin, Terbinafine and Itraconazole but they have many side effects and should be used under a dermatologist’s guidance. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I consulted another Urologist and he saw it again and said that it was normal infection. He suggested be Augmentin and ITRACONAZOLE capsules. and also advised to apply Betadine on the head of the penis and the foreskin. I followed that, the blisters have gone now, but I have red rashes (not wrinkles but lines and dotes) on the head of the penis. They seem to be more visible when the penis is erect. Also, if I apply betadine for 2-3 days, skin of the head becomes dry and gets wrinkles.
Avatar m tn s widespread, that can be hard to do. Oral itraconazole and ketoconazole are safe and effective. You should discuss these options with your doctor. Thanks. Dr.
Avatar f tn I am on week four, this diet is making me miserable, and I am now taking Itraconazole. I only wanted to breathe, and I only used the inhaler 6 times total. This seems ridiculous to still have this infection, and I only want to know how to be rid of it. Can anyone please advise?
