I am on 300 mg of lamivudine (1 time before bed) 600 mg of efavirenz (1 time before bed) and 300 mg tenofovir (1 time before bed), How effective this for PEP? I am not sure coz I went for an emergency ward which may not have expert on HIV infection. Also I read the label it said for PEP purpouse lamivudine should be used as 150 mg twice daily. Am I right?
On AUGUST 19TH and AUGUST 20TH, I started taking ARVs which doctor prescribed. (Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300mg, Lamivudine USP 600mg, Efavirenz USP 200mg). ARVs made me dizzy, so I stoppped on AUGUST 21ST and AUGUST 22ND. After the viral load result, I started ARVs again. One pill everyday regularly.
4. On AUGUST 29th, I gave blood sample for PCR-HIV QUALITATIVE: (Performed using the Roche COBAS Ampliprep/COBAS Taqman HIV-1 Qualitative Version 2.0 assay.) It turned out negative.
have read in many forums that lam is not the best, approached my doctor with this concern and she sugessted tenofovir. Should i start tenofovir immediately, how should i start. Should i just abruptly stop lam and move on to tenofovir, should i use both and gradually stop lam after a few day/weeks. No other options here. Nigeria (Africa), so i cannot combo with other drugs. I was given pep (efavirenz+ tenofovir + lamivudine) for 28 days after 48 hours. But I had it for 29 days instead. Now after 57 days I am having flu like symptoms. Runny nose and a bit of sore throat. No fever though. And my abdominal hurts a bit and a little joint pain..
1. What are my chances of contracting hiv from this fingering exposure?

When I realized of him diagnosis, I went to a doctor who gave me profilaxis about 18 hours post-exposure with lamivudine-zidovudine. At 24 hours post-exposure, I received Efavirenz, but at 36 hours post-exposure my regimen was changed with ritonavir-lopinavir. My question is : What is my overall risk of acquiring HIV, taking in consideration all that I have described above?.

Lamivudine is outdated and ur virus will multiply anyway someday due to resistance to it so best is change to tenofovir and also change ur doctor who even don't know in today's time lamivudine is not used.
Your only reasonable choice is tenofovir. Despite its chemical similarity, tenofovir is about 80 times less toxic to the kidneys than adefovir.
I remember a personal discussion about this with Gileads research director, Gibbs, at the time. He said "we had no idea, what a huge difference a single methyl group can make".
My doctor suggests that I participate in the drug trial of Tenefovir (Viread) versus Tenofovir in combination with Emtricitibine (Truvada). I have chronic Hepatitis B and Lamivudine resistance last year. He gave me a document to read and I did a bit of research on internet on the side effect. My concern is the side effect especially on Kidney. Could you give me some advice if I should participate in the drug trial or stay with my current medicine Hepsera.

since you have used lamivudine the virus can be mutated now and the only drugs you can use are interferon or tenofovir, no other durgs
About one year ago when I conducted Hepatitis B profile, I had NON RELICATIVE INFECTION but about one year on lamivudine I am now REPLICATIVE. Please what does this suggest? I am planning to stop taking lamivudine because it gives me so much side effect ranging from stomach discomforts and back pains and general weakness. The doctor I met this time related all these complaints to lamivudine.

Tenofovir disoproxil and telbivudine are categorized as class B regarding safety in pregnancy and the other HBV drugs as class C. 3. So, I think Lamivudine is safe. You must consult your doctors, including your Obstetrician, they must work as a team to look after you and your baby.
who is the crazy docotor who prescribed lamivudine/epivir, add tenofovir as soon as possible, lamivudine don t cure hbv and makes hbv mutations which can be untreatable and can make liver cancer even if hbvdna undetactable

s the doctor chose lamivudine for her, and after became resistant changed the meds to entecavir, the smart thing to do was to go with tenofovir after lamivudine resistance . so now after she took entecavir, hbvdna start rising again ?
