Tenofovir emtricitabine efavirenz

Common Questions and Answers about Tenofovir emtricitabine efavirenz

truvada

181575 tn?1250198786 Atripla is a drug used to treat HIV. It actually consists of 3 drugs, emtricitabine and tenofovir (which also works against HBV) and efavirenz (doesn't work against HBV). Combination treatment is common practice for HIV so they combine multiple drugs into 1 pill. Of course Atripla is NOT an FDA approved therapy for HBV. Sometime in the future when the standard practice is combo treatment for HBV, they will combine entecavir and tenofovir into 1 pill and call it XcalibR 300.
Avatar m tn An international study found the antiviral combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine (Truvada) was most effective in treating younger adult hepatitis B patients with high viral load and normal ALT levels. Doctors historically have not treated this group because there appeared to be no sign of liver damage. However, doctors now know that high viral loads may increase patients’ risk of liver damage and cancer as they age, despite their normal ALT levels.
863555 tn?1239133228 (The other two I use are emtricitabine and tenofovir). Daily, I use 200 mg of retonavir to boost 800 mg of lopinavir. I read in the study that 100 or 200 mg of retonavir is used to boost 200, 400 or 600 mg of SCH 900518/boceprevir. My HIV is successfully suppressed (i.e. UND) after two weeks of interferon -- that's three weeks ago.
Avatar f tn The most common treatment in the US, Canada and the UK is Truvada. This is what is known as a "fixed-dose combination tablet" combining emtricitabine and tenofovir from the NRTI class, and raltegravir, from the integrase inhibitor class. There ARE alternative drugs available and possibly in Thailand they use lamivudine in place of raltegravir. I am definitely NOT a chemist, so I can't tell you for sure if the combination you're taking is appropriate.
Avatar m tn What are my chances of getting infected. Another question was administered a PEP drug emtricitabine and tenofovir, can it prevent me from contracting HiV.
Avatar m tn Given you are resistant to LAM, staying on Truvada is obviously better. But going mono on Tenofovir should be ok given you current UND. Tenofovir has a excellent resistance profile especially in UND situations. Even if you are resistance to LAM, can you access Entecavir as a possible combo with Tenofovir?
Avatar m tn Good afternoon. There is a double-acting drugs - lamivudine, emtricitabine, tenofovir. This is known. Are there any similar action in the protease inhibitor, such as Kaletra (lopinavir) for example? Have you ever thought about that? I read - sometimes laugh. Simvastatin, vitamin D, which the Chinese poeben, mythical new drugs, masturbation with measurements of the level of HBsAg, and other nonsense....
Avatar m tn This is a potential concern because the drugs in Truvada – tenofovir and emtricitabine – are active against HBV as well as HIV. HIV and HBV are spread through some common transmission routes, including sexual transmission, vertical transmission (mother to child) and via multi-person use of injection equipment.
Avatar m tn The active ingredients of you will are tenofovir, emtricitabine and efavirenz. I am on day two of the Meds. The first night the side effects of dizziness were extremely severe. It was hard to walk. I found myself having a panic attack until I finally just went to sleep. When I woke up I was rather fine and did not feel dizzy. The dizziness went away by today, day 5, but my lower back is in SEVERE pain. My question: 1) Do these side effects ware off as the course goes on? Will it get easier?
Avatar f tn You are correct that Truvada is a combination of tenofovir and emtricitabine, and is generally prescribed for patients with HIV. Being a HBV forum, most of us know very little about Truvada except that it is prescribed off-label for HBV by some doctors, and that it is recommended for HBV patients who develop resistance to Tenofovir.
Avatar m tn truvada is just tenofovir+ftc, it is sueless on hbv unless non response to tenofovir, which is extremely rare it adds toxicity and higher price because truvada patent is not expiring in 2014, no difference on hbsag. instead of truvada it is best only for those non responding to combo tenofovir+lamivudine.
Avatar m tn the explanation of why tenofovir is so potent on hbv and makes no resistance was explained by the intracellular levels reached by this drug, it is so bad no study ever showed how all other nucs are extremely poor at this and when i found this comparison i was very very surprised all ohter drugs are so weak as intracellular levels, just look at lam vs tdf.we dont have etv here but it is probably very poor too.
Avatar m tn I started a course of PEP that included Tenvor-EM (Indian version Emtricitabine/Tenofovir DF) and Kaluvia (generic of lopinavir/retonavir) for 25 days and interrupted it for two reasons: 1-My partner tested Negative(Antigen/ Antibody) on 22 days post exposure 2-Thinking that i might be developing facial Lipodystrophy (slight facial fat loss under cheek bones). I cant tell if my face was like this before the treatment or it is just an illusion.
Avatar m tn Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF), a new formulation that reaches higher levels in cells but allows for lower dosing, was as effective as the current tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) formulation but had less impact on markers of kidney function and bone turnover, researchers reported at the 53rd Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC 2013) this week in Denver.
6820012 tn?1385089216 Truvada is the main medicine that has been studied and recommended for PrEP. It is a combination of two drugs, tenofovir and emtricitabine. Maybe some things you read used these names, so you didn't see the Truvada brand name. I don't know if taking PPI drugs interferes with effectiveness against PrEP. Probably not, but you should check with the doctor or clinic who prescribed it for you. CDC has great information about PrEP; here is a link to some of it: http://www.cdc.
Avatar m tn tenvir is generic version of tenofovir tenvir tm is generic version of tenofovir+emtricitabine (truvada) which even more potent than tenofovir alone entecavir is less potent of both tdf or truvada, i am also on entecavir which is about 1000usd per month changing currency from euro, i have it free in my country but it is absurd to allow such costs for a stupid tablet http://www.aids-drugs-online.com/productindex.
Avatar f tn Objectives To report a successful treatment of a patient with a chronic severe hepatitis Delta using combination therapy with Pegylated interferon (PegIFN), Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) and Emtricitabine (FTC). Study Design The patient, a 47 years -old male patient, originating from Dagestan (East Asia), suffered of chronic hepatitis Delta infection. The patient was HBsAg, HBeAg, and anti-Delta Ab (IgG) positive. Serum HBV-DNA level was elevated (more than 9logUI/mL).
Avatar m tn On AUGUST 19TH and AUGUST 20TH, I started taking ARVs which doctor prescribed. (Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate 300mg, Lamivudine USP 600mg, Efavirenz USP 200mg). ARVs made me dizzy, so I stoppped on AUGUST 21ST and AUGUST 22ND. After the viral load result, I started ARVs again. One pill everyday regularly. 4. On AUGUST 29th, I gave blood sample for PCR-HIV QUALITATIVE: (Performed using the Roche COBAS Ampliprep/COBAS Taqman HIV-1 Qualitative Version 2.0 assay.) It turned out negative.
Avatar m tn the second component is unchanged, 200mg of emtricitabine, also called FTC, a fluor substituted form of Lamivudine, that provides protection from the development of mutants that will lower the responsiveness to tenofovir. it's side effects are generally considered very mild, equivalent to lamivudine. This is theoretically good news for hbv patients waiting eagerly for TAF to be available for HBV. The problem is the high price: 1500$ for one month supply of 30 pills.
Avatar f tn I was given pep (efavirenz+ tenofovir + lamivudine) for 28 days after 48 hours. But I had it for 29 days instead. Now after 57 days I am having flu like symptoms. Runny nose and a bit of sore throat. No fever though. And my abdominal hurts a bit and a little joint pain.. 1. What are my chances of contracting hiv from this fingering exposure? 2. Is pep successful if taken at 48 hours of exposure.? 3. Do i need testing? I was tested negative at baseline.
Avatar f tn I am on 300 mg of lamivudine (1 time before bed) 600 mg of efavirenz (1 time before bed) and 300 mg tenofovir (1 time before bed), How effective this for PEP? I am not sure coz I went for an emergency ward which may not have expert on HIV infection. Also I read the label it said for PEP purpouse lamivudine should be used as 150 mg twice daily. Am I right?
