We know the tumor is in a slightly different area than it was originally. He is in treatment (Temodar for the second time) for the third recurrence of his tumor. We have always been told it is in an area where surgery has not been an option. The oncologist does say he believes it is a higher grade. We think he believes it is glioblastoma but he won't say that definitely without doing another biopsy.
Patient made decision to treat his anaplastic astrocytoma with surgery and Temodar only. No radiation! What is the prognosis for this 33 yr.old male.
A month ago my husband (41) had a tumor resection of a GBM in the left temporal/frontal lobe. He is still recovering from surgery and has begun cancer treatment (temodar& radiation) a week ago. He has a previous accident injury where he has struggled with neck pain for ten years. He has been on suboxone for probably 7 years now. He is currently taking his suboxone but is not getting any relief for his head pain.
Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.
He has difficulty reading and writing. He did received therapy but scored less after he completed therapy than he scored when starting. His balance is worse and he needs constant monitoring due lack of "common sense". His short term memory loss evaluated at moderate to severe and I believe, declining. It appears that his intellect is lower and carrying on a conversation with him is both difficult and painful. He frequently struggles to get a word out and stutters.
ve now been through radiation and temodar, consults with Dr. Prados at UCSF. The tumor was still growing at last month's MRI. Now I'm on IV chemo, Avastin and cpt 11. Next MRI is in a week and we''ll see.
I'm so scared. I'm married, no kids, love my husband and can't bear having to say goodbye to him and all my beloved friends.
I don't know how to run my house any more.
One thing I can tell you is beware of certain chemos, like temodar , it can cause lukemia in people with NF, and radiation is also a no go for people with NF. Good luck.
t working together properly, either. So in addition to the vestibular therapy, I had therapy for Convergence Insufficiency. When an object was within a certain distance from my face, my eyes wouldn't work together to keep the object in focus.
There are other issues related to convergence where the eyes don't work well together.

went to therapy - alot came out about mymom death when I was young. I just wasn't sure about how much I have repressed. MY WHOLE LIFE IS REPRESSED. I journaled this morning and it came to mind with a major cry fit..that as a child, I did everything I could-for 5 long years up to the age of 14 to make it all ok. But then she died. It just hit me this late in life that I couldn't fix that or protect it in anyway. Has anyone ever been in this type of a position?
How is it that therapy is suppose to help you deal with why you used when all therapy does is make me want to use? I have been able to numb all my emotional feelings through opiates, even though my pills were used and prescribed for all my surgeries, it was my outlet, as sick as this sounds, hearing the words another surgery was like a free pass to opiates. Then of course it lead to my opiate abuse.
I want to get back into therapy and NOT be on medication again. Just wondering if a Psychologist or Psychiatrist would be better.
The patient underwent radiation therapy in 2007 with subsequent recurrence. The patient has been undergoing chemotherapy with Avastin, which was discontinued in 12/2010. The patient has also undergone treatment with Temodar. Now with worsening dysphagia and speech impediment.
Findings: Multiplanar and multisequential MR images of the brain are done with and without contrast.
