s brain tumor (diagnosed oligodendroglioma grade 2 at age 55 in 2006). The last MRI report says heterogeneously enhancing lesion within the left insula, ...slight increase in T2/FLAIR signal abnormality concistent with vasogenic edema now with extension into the mid frontal gyrus and effacing the adjacent sulcus. Could you explain what this means and tell me where the lopcation is, possibly direct me to a diagram that will show me more?
A 59-year-old man with history of left frontal lobe grade 2 oligodendroglioma, status post total resection in 05/2007. The patient underwent radiation therapy in 2007 with subsequent recurrence. The patient has been undergoing chemotherapy with Avastin, which was discontinued in 12/2010. The patient has also undergone treatment with Temodar. Now with worsening dysphagia and speech impediment.
I had brain surgery in July 2015 to remove an oligodendroglioma from my right frontal lobe, I had been told that it was inoperable because of both the position and the fact that it had already spread. I found an amazing Doctor in a medical centre near Milan in Italy called Humanitas. The Doctor's name is Lorenzo Bello. He is amazing as a person and as a surgeon.. My inoperable tumour was removed 100% and I have full use in my left side.
Could someone give me a layman's explanation of these measurements--
1.8 TR x 2.2 cc x 1.7 ap cm.? We have never see the TR or ap cm. used in the mri
report before for total size of the mass. Also, could someone explain the
following MRI report in plain english for me?

A month ago my husband (41) had a tumor resection of a GBM in the left temporal/frontal lobe. He is still recovering from surgery and has begun cancer treatment (temodar& radiation) a week ago. He has a previous accident injury where he has struggled with neck pain for ten years. He has been on suboxone for probably 7 years now. He is currently taking his suboxone but is not getting any relief for his head pain.
Patient made decision to treat his anaplastic astrocytoma with surgery and Temodar only. No radiation! What is the prognosis for this 33 yr.old male.
Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.
My mother had a brain tumor(Oligodendroglioma-anaplastic) in her temporal lobe and had totaly different symptoms and I dont have any symptoms of brain tumors listed on the net(no headaches, no loss of peripheral vision..)
I have severe anxiety with depression. Im not on any medication yet. I can get other anxiety symptoms like chest pain, palpatations, frequent urination...once i thaught i have diabetes type 1 and got all the symptoms and all came back negative the tests.
My grandpa has undergone a brain tumor removal surgery 3 weeks ago and we got the histopathology results reading that they're not 100% sure and it is either a grade 3 anaplastic oligodendroglioma or glioblastoma and further genetic testing is needed. In the meantime however, they told him that after being discharged from the hospital, he's supposed to take 2mg Dexamethasone for three days, then 1mg for three days and then stop taking it.
One thing I can tell you is beware of certain chemos, like temodar , it can cause lukemia in people with NF, and radiation is also a no go for people with NF. Good luck.
ve now been through radiation and temodar, consults with Dr. Prados at UCSF. The tumor was still growing at last month's MRI. Now I'm on IV chemo, Avastin and cpt 11. Next MRI is in a week and we''ll see.
I'm so scared. I'm married, no kids, love my husband and can't bear having to say goodbye to him and all my beloved friends.
I don't know how to run my house any more.
The doctors at the reputable renowned hospital in Chicago claimed to have never seen a tumor this large in an adult. He received radiation and chemo for six weeks and remained on temodar for almost 18 months. The last ten percent of his tumor (near the brainstem but according to images not infiltrating into) did shrink a bit during treatment and has remained “dormant”. This all sounds amazing but he seems to be getting worse.
Schering-Plough CEO Fred Hassan said in an interview that those drugs include Nasonex, Pegintron for hepatitis, cancer drug Temodar, the Nuvaring contraceptive and the two cholesterol drugs, all of which have patent protection until 2014 or later.
Doesn't appear Pegintron will be any cheaper for a long time.
He begins another round of chemotherapy 5 days per month for next 6 months. It is oral chemo called Temodar. His next MRI is in 3 months. It has been very difficult finding any information on adults that have a tectal tumor so it is nice to find your posts. Life changed over night for us but we are finding hope in our doctors & in people like you have seem to be getting along just fine! I think the initial shock is wearing off. How often do you have MRI?
