Avatar m tn I had an uncle with the same form as your mom, the glioblastoma multiforme - he also found it late and passed quickly but glioblastoma is a different form. It is the words after it, if any, that make for prognosis - as well as stage, previous health, location of tumor and a host of other factors. I have a cousin with a thalmic cancerous tumor, and he is doing ok so far.
Avatar n tn Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a loved one with Glioblastoma multiforme? My husband has been diagnosed with this and had a tumor debulking last month. He is now on radiation treatment and is experiencing fatigue and his mind is now childlike. Will radiation reverse his cognitive thinking? Also, has anyone had a loved one who survived this cancer?
Avatar f tn We know the tumor is in a slightly different area than it was originally. He is in treatment (Temodar for the second time) for the third recurrence of his tumor. We have always been told it is in an area where surgery has not been an option. The oncologist does say he believes it is a higher grade. We think he believes it is glioblastoma but he won't say that definitely without doing another biopsy.
Avatar n tn today we found out my husband has a glioblastoma multiforme grade 4. how long with radiation and chemo does he really have? they could only get a small piece of the tumor out surgically.
Avatar n tn My husband was recently diagosed with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer. The neurosurgeon put him on Dilantin "for life." He isn't even going to check blood levels. My husband has not had any seizures. Does this seem appropriate?
Avatar f tn Here's some websites I found that talk about it: At this VA website, in the search rectangle at the top, type in "Agent Orange" http://www.vva.org/ This is another VA website, on your computer keyboard hold down Control and F, a rectangle will come up at the top, type in "Agent Orange," and a bunch of articles about it will be highlighted on the page, and one post is by a vet who talks about glioblastoma http://www.facebook.com/posted.php?

Avatar m tn My brother in law had a grade IV glioblastoma multiforme. But, there are low grade tumors as well. Have you had surgery? Where do you live? I can suggest more things if I know what area you live in and so forth. Another suggestion is that I belong to a great community at ***@**** where everyone has a brain tumor or their families are dealing with it. They have been very helpful. If you are in the U.S.
Avatar m tn My husbands brother was 56 when he passed away from a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) two years ago. We were his caregivers along with his sister and mother, and helped him with his meds and so forth and so we unfortuantely have a lot of experience with this too. A lot of the symptoms are common to the brain tumor itself and the damage that was done from removing it and post radiation etc. Did she just get these symptoms? Sure some of these meds can cause these symptoms too.
8398640 tn?1398042546 That being said, my grandmother died of breast cancer, my only aunt had breast cancer, my mother died of breast cancer she contracted in her 30s, and my father died of glioblastoma multiforme (eg brain tumour) contracted in his twenties. Yeah. I'm not having kids. Whether or not *they* get it, *I* might get it and speaking as an orphan, it's not fair on my hypothetical kids. Autoimmune conditions are a challenge. No two ways about it.
Avatar f tn I did have hyperthyroidism about 15 yrs ago and took some high powered medicine that caused it to go into remission. I have been fine since. My mother passed away from a glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor @ the age of 59. I have a 1st cousin that was diagnosed about 5 yrs ago w/ MS. Please tell me what could this be. When I go to the doctor next week what should he test for?

1515784 tn?1387197290 She had a surgical resection near the end of November and is currently in her third week of Proton Therapy and chemo with Temodar. Her tumor was in the right temporal lobe and the remaining tumor they couldn't remove (about 10 percent they said) is on her right insula. Hoping to chat with other people in the same boat as her. What if any side effects did you incur on Proton therapy? Did everyone who had proton therapy to their brain have to be on a steroid? Did anyone NOT lose hair.
Avatar n tn My mother has been diagnosed with erythema multiforme. She has a rash (bump like bites on her legs). But nothing I see talks about swelling of hands as a symptom - which she also has (no rash on hands). On a sidenote she was recently diagnosed with renal artery stenosis, so I wonder if this isn't a vascular issue.
Avatar f tn operative and post radiotherapy state of right temporal Glioblastoma. Pre and post contrast MR imaging of BRAIN was done using following protocol: Evidence of right sided craniotomy is noted. Irregular CSF signal intensity area is noted in all sequences in right temporal region with mild exvacuo dilatation of right lateral ventricle. Small nodular enhancing area with surrounding gyriform enhancement is noted in posterior aspect of right temporal lobe and there is adjacent dural enhancement.
Avatar f tn I had my primary doctor say it was erythma multiforme and sent me to a dermatoligist, who said it was by looking at it. I then have it return and a new dermatoigist thought it was hives. they did a biopsy and it came back as hives, she said I might have the two things going on. I stayed on valtrex the first time for six months, with no help. the second round two different allergy pills, that did calm it down.I had abreif period that I thought it stooped.
Avatar f tn To my knowledge, erythema multiforme is not most commonly seen on the lower lip. It is generally seen cheeks and tongue, then most frequently on the inner lip.
Avatar n tn My doctor told me today that I might have a mild case of erythema multiforme in my hands. 1- is this contagious? Can I pass it on to someone by touching them?
Avatar f tn I hope your husband gets the best treatment he can get and recovers. I would try any treatment possible. I wish I had done this when my mother was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma multiform tumor. There isn't much hope for someone with glioblastoma, however, I wish I had allowed her to be treated rather than opting for hospice care. There's a famous doctor at Duke University's Tisch brain tumor center named Dr. Allan Friedman.

Avatar n tn My 15 year old son was diagnosed with Erythema Multiforme 9 weeks ago. His symptoms have cleared after being treated with 40mg of Prednisone for 10 days (plus a taper of Predinsone for an additional 10 days). He has recently suffered a shoulder injury (dislocation and separation)...could this be related to the high dose of Prednisone he was on? Also, during physical therapy for this shoulder injury the therapist taped his shoulder...
