Sounds like some type of Melanoma; Acral Lentiginous Melanoma in my opinion. Hopefully this is localized and hasn't spread. Further investigation should be done to be certain this HASN'T spread. Ideally, this should be followed with lymphangiogram with lymph node dissection and/or chemotherapy after the digital amputation.

In this system A stands for age (peak incidence being in the 5th to 7th decades of life and African Americans, Asians, and native Americans in whom subungual melanoma accounts for up to one third of all melanoma cases. B stands for brown to black b and with breadth of 3 mm or more and variegated borders.
ok well my mom has malignant melanoma and this is what is says on the paper..... Malignant Melanoma,Clarks Level IV measuring .33m in thickness extending to all margins. this is a moderate lymphoid infiltrate.

On the other hand, the lung cancer also has more treatment options and larger gains with such treatment options over melanoma. Melanoma chemotherapy options are few, and the gains are smaller compared with other cancers. A general “one is definitely better” assessment would be hard to call at this point.
We know the tumor is in a slightly different area than it was originally. He is in treatment (Temodar for the second time) for the third recurrence of his tumor. We have always been told it is in an area where surgery has not been an option. The oncologist does say he believes it is a higher grade. We think he believes it is glioblastoma but he won't say that definitely without doing another biopsy.
Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.

I suggest your brother stop smoking and stop eating fast food/proccessed foods and begin eating healthy anti-cancer foods.
To my surprise I find that it could end up being penile melanoma. At this point I am really really scared and am panicking since reading up on penile melanoma it didn't sound so good. I really need to know what I am dealing with here and if it is penile melanoma as it could change my life dramatically. :( Thank you very much for any advise on this matter.
This is a common discussion on this forum. The true definition of chemotherapy is "treatment of an illness by chemical means." So, yeah....and if you read up on side effects posted here, treatment of HCV can, sometimes, sound worse than a therapy that you think of treating a cancer. It's a judgement call. To me, yes...it is chemo-therapy..

We cannot judge just from the appearance of a lump whether it is a neoplasm or malignancy or not. Melanoma has an irregular border,asymmetrical,uneven color and increasing in size. If you notice changes in the mole's color, height, size or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it.
So it would be only after a biopsy that it can be confirmed whether the growth is a malignancy or not. Moreover from the biopsy, we can confirm the staging and prognosis of the growth.
I feel stupid for asking, but is tx a form of chemotherapy?? The shots and the pills twice a day?
Hi. Where was your melanoma located? Was it near your nose? I checked the official prescribing information for Veramyst (fluticasone nasal spray) and it does not specifically state that this drug is contraindicated for those with melanoma or any other cancer. However, for those with recent nasal surgery, this drug should be avoided as it delays wound healing and increases the risk of fungal (Candida) infection.
Now I am terrified that it was a melanoma and I have scrapped it off and the cancer will start growing without me knowing. Can you scrap off a melanoma? If it was a melanoma will the pigmentation grow to the surface again? Does melanoma heal? I know if I go to the gp they will not refer me to a dermatologist and can not afford to pay privately.
