Common Questions and Answers about Temodar melanoma brain

temodar

Avatar f tn I am trying to locate the exact area of my husband's brain tumor (diagnosed oligodendroglioma grade 2 at age 55 in 2006). The last MRI report says heterogeneously enhancing lesion within the left insula, ...slight increase in T2/FLAIR signal abnormality concistent with vasogenic edema now with extension into the mid frontal gyrus and effacing the adjacent sulcus. Could you explain what this means and tell me where the lopcation is, possibly direct me to a diagram that will show me more?
1515784 tn?1387197290 She had a surgical resection near the end of November and is currently in her third week of Proton Therapy and chemo with Temodar. Her tumor was in the right temporal lobe and the remaining tumor they couldn't remove (about 10 percent they said) is on her right insula. Hoping to chat with other people in the same boat as her. What if any side effects did you incur on Proton therapy? Did everyone who had proton therapy to their brain have to be on a steroid? Did anyone NOT lose hair.
Avatar f tn A month ago my husband (41) had a tumor resection of a GBM in the left temporal/frontal lobe. He is still recovering from surgery and has begun cancer treatment (temodar& radiation) a week ago. He has a previous accident injury where he has struggled with neck pain for ten years. He has been on suboxone for probably 7 years now. He is currently taking his suboxone but is not getting any relief for his head pain.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone knew if a PET scan show benign tumors because she had a PET scan done last year after being diagnosed with maligant melanoma on her arm but the PET scan did not show anything at the time. So I was just wondering if a PET scan would even show a benign spot? Also can melenoma spread to the brain if her lymph nodes were negative?
Avatar m tn //www.cancer.org/cancer/melanoma-skin-cancer/detection-diagnosis-staging/melanoma-skin-cancer-stages.html This link goes through staging. However, to be stage 4, distant lymph nodes and/or organs such as liver, lungs or brain are affected. Please let us know how things are going.
Avatar f tn I actually meant to write meningioma not melanoma. Sorry. I did have a melanoma on my left shoulder but that wasn't what my question was suppose to be. I have a meningioma on the top of my brain and wondered if the were common in Chiari patients. Sorry for the confusion. I don't know what was used for the duroplasty, but the build up of scar tissue makes sense. Thank you!
Avatar f tn Carter, 91, announced this summer that he has a dangerous form of melanoma that spread to his brain and his liver. Last week, however, Carter said his “most recent MRI brain scan did not reveal any signs of the original cancer spots, nor any new ones.” Who would have thought it? First he told us he has one of the deadliest cancers and reminisced about his wonderful life and, just like that, the cancer is gone? Is this a medical miracle? I asked myself.
Avatar f tn Did you have headache and a foggy brain feeling? I was worried that it may be matestisis from my melanoma. Could that be possible?
794236 tn?1238016706 My husband has recently been diagnosed with multiple recurrent ependymomas of the spinal cord, at this time they have not found any within his brain. He had one resectioned and treated with radiation in 2004. In early February his doctor discovered that there are numerous lesions on his spinal cord (again). They removed a large tumor about 2 weeks ago that was threatening his spinal cord, and a few smaller ones while they were "in there".
Avatar f tn Patient made decision to treat his anaplastic astrocytoma with surgery and Temodar only. No radiation! What is the prognosis for this 33 yr.old male.
Avatar n tn Since the diagnosis of Glioblastoma grade 4 in August, my husband has had the tumor removed and completed the round of radiation and chemotherapy - temodar. Recently I have noticed him being very short fused and argumentative. The slightest thing sets him off as if he had been personally attack. I have also noticed depression setting in. I'm assuming this is all part of the treatment and diagnosis.
1524669 tn?1291423170 HI, I AM WITH OLIGODENDROGLIOMA,, NOW ON CHEMOTHERAPY-TEMODAR 350MG.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with melanoma on my birthday last year then a week later found out I was pregnant. I had surgeries, which I did awake to limit risk to the baby, to remove the masses on my skin but I can't have any scans because of the baby to make sure it hadn't spread.
2059648 tn?1439766665 the drugs used for hcv treatment are immunotherapy rather than chemotherapy and are used in combination with chemo/radiation therapy for some cancers-melanoma being the one that springs to mind. There seems to be more info out there about melanoma post treatment issues that usually relate to the interferon rather than the chemo drugs.Having watched close friends and family members go through chemo I would say that the hcv drugs affect your personality and brain function more.
Avatar n tn However the mole seems to make a lump on my head. I was wondering if this was a sign of cancer, brain tumor, ect. It is on the left side of my head right above my forehead. The mole is about the size of a large pea. Sometimes my vision also blanks out but that's only after i use any form of electronics for about 2-3 hrs. I am a 12 yr old asain male if that might help determine anything. I have not seen a dermotogist about this yet however.
Avatar n tn She is fair skinned, her paternal uncle died of melanoma when he was only 40 and her brother has melanoma. Does this increase her risk of developing melanoma?
Avatar n tn Hi. Where was your melanoma located? Was it near your nose? I checked the official prescribing information for Veramyst (fluticasone nasal spray) and it does not specifically state that this drug is contraindicated for those with melanoma or any other cancer. However, for those with recent nasal surgery, this drug should be avoided as it delays wound healing and increases the risk of fungal (Candida) infection.
343006 tn?1314446471 It could be anything that caused the melanoma. My friend that had the melanoma works in a grocery store as a manager, so who knows if these things just show up for no particular reason. You are lucky you have support from your family - that is very important. I do have family support sometimes, but not all of the time and I too ran into times where I was down right depressed and it was no fun at all. All I wanted to do was cry.
Avatar n tn In 1998 my husband underwent whole brain radiation for treatment of brain tumor with dx of stage iv melanoma (no primary was ever found). About 5 years ago he began to exhibit behavior changes which have gotten worse since then. He is delusional, on disability and is taking Zyprexa, Amantadine, Namenda, Cymbalta and excelon patch. Still, he seems to worsen. He now has symptoms of Parkinsons with balance issues. He is 55 years old - much to young to be this dibilitated.
Avatar f tn Now I am terrified that it was a melanoma and I have scrapped it off and the cancer will start growing without me knowing. Can you scrap off a melanoma? If it was a melanoma will the pigmentation grow to the surface again? Does melanoma heal? I know if I go to the gp they will not refer me to a dermatologist and can not afford to pay privately.
