Avatar m tn t pee for 17 hours and had to go to the hospital for a catheter because I became so uncomfortable. At the time, I was on an anti-depressant that had a side effect of urinary retention. I've discontinued that medication, but I still have issues with it. I will sit on the toilet with the faucet running for 20 + minutes with no luck. The past week, I've been having issues with it every day.
Avatar n tn I am 5 weeks postpartum from a scheduled c-section. Suddenly, I have urinary frequency, having to urinate every hour to 2 hours, but no pain or even real pressure. I am voiding a significant amount of fluid. Prior to pregnancy, I had the same issue, which I thought was a result of severe work related stress. I was prescribed Prosed DS, which eliminated the frequency. As I am breastfeeding, I cannot take Prosed. Is my body merely flushing fluids, or is it something more?

Avatar m tn I have had the problem for a little while now but basically ignored it until lately it has worsened and my urinary stream has become noticeably much weaker and I have also noticed my ejaculations have become much weaker as well. This problem seems to really be becoming worse. At first I linked it to the symptoms I read of having an enlarged prostate but I recently found in readings that lower back problems can cause these same symptoms as well.
Avatar n tn t processing things the way it used to. I still have the urinary frequency and severe pain on both sides of my spine in my lower back. Any suggestions about what might be causing this? I'd like to have some ideas to talk to my urologist about, because he seems to think it's just overactive bladder, even though the meds aren't helping.

They said he had a urinary blockage and prescribed him a weeks cycle of prednisone (steroids) as an anti-inflamitory and antibiotics. It cleared up but now I think he's blocked again but we are expecting a new baby and we just can't afford the vet visit. I called the vet and they won't re-prescribe the meds without seeing him.

Avatar n tn It can be due to many reasons which can be physiological or disease-related, and include excessive intake of liquids, diuretic substances (including tea, caffeine, alcohol, certain drugs), anxiety, exposure to cold, diabetes mellitus, diabetes insipidus (central or nephrogenic), urinary tract infections or obstruction, etc to name a few more common ones.
Avatar m tn Well, it can be a urinary tract infection. It could be an STD but since you both are monogamous it is more likely a UTI.Generally they will give you antibiotics for it if the urine test is positive. You can try drinking lots and lots of cranberry juice (I actually cured my UTI with cranberry juice) and water for a couple of days and see if it gets better. I am talking about two or three liters a day for a couple of days. If it doesn't work you will need to get tested.
