My 9yr old has had a sore throat for about two weeks. Her throat is red but no visible white bumps or pus. Her voice is hoarse but she has no other symptoms.
t respond to the drugs that they usually give you for strep throat. So it is possible that you could have it. That is my professional opinion as a clinical microbiologist The only other thing is are your lymph nodes swollen? Could these be what you feel when you swallow? You may have had the original strep throat and then your lymph nodes swelled and that is hat you feel? That with some residual pain from the sore throat? I don't know how bad your throat feels.
t comprehend any doctor treating you for strep throat if they have not tested you for it. If the diagnoses has been confirmed and you are not responding to the antibiotics you mights need something stronger. You should call your doctor's office and let them know how you are feeling. They would be able to call something else in for you or might want to do other tests to confirm what may be the problem. There are very resistant strains of Strep out there.

My brother and mom had a sore throat for a while and it went away, a little over a month ago i caught it, too. It started out as a sore, internal pain on one side of my throat when i swallowed. That went away in a week or two, since then, it has been switching between being dry or having a lot of mucus (not creamy, green, or infected-looking mucus). I like exercising, but the dryness is causing me to have trouble breathing. The doctor told my brother that it was not mono and not strep.

I took my whole course of antibiotics and felt fine for a day and then it felt weird again. Also, my throat physically never looked normal. I wish I could add a picture. On each side there is a small oval looking scar or something and my throat looks like cobblestone. And it is red. I have had very slight soreness on and off during these 3 weeks. I should note I do not have tonsils. My lymph nodes on the side of my neck, just under my jawline, is swollen.
Did the doctor do a throat culture for strep? A quick swab to the back of the throat for a rapid strep test could give you the answer to your discomfort. Whatever is causing your discomfort, it does not sound like it is going to go away on its own. You are going to need the treatment of a doctor.

Today I found out that I tested positive for strep b and I understand it's common and can also cause bad illness and even death in my baby.. :-(.. But my question is what happens if the baby does happen to catch it? What happens to my baby boy and how do they fix it? And I understand that if my water breaks I need to go to the hospital straight away for antibiotics, but what if I have contractions instead do I still wait until they are 5 to 3 minutes apart?
FTM. I get checked tonight for strep infection. Don't want to spread open my legs on the table. :\ so awkward!! Glad my hubby will be there with me. Anyone else dread the thought of having your vagina checked and on show? Or is it just me?
I had protected sex (condom, no lubricant, no breakage) with someone about a month ago. A couple weeks later i got strep throat and didn't think much of it. But then i got a bit tired and lost my appetitie so i got more worried. Went in for an HIV test (3wks after encounter) and it came back negative (Elisa-EIA)-my doc told me to stop worrying and i was fine. The strep throat went away in a few days and i felt better and i stopped worrying.
Monday 9am went to doctor, rapid test for flu - negative. He advised strep or bacterial infection, then proceeded and gave me a shot of antibiotics and advised I lay in tub with warm water to alleviate muscle pains. took nap around noon, woke up at 5pm muscle pains and fever started subsiding. Called doctor to thank him. By Tuesday, was feeling much better with slight sore throat that started Monday, not Sunday. (Fever and Muscle Aches gone). Wednesday was back to normal.

I would like to understand from other users, what is a normal response time for a strep sore throat to heal. Had a progressively worsening sore throat for 3 days, rapid test positive for strep. Started Zithromax 500mg per day for 5 days due to penicillin allergy. Now starting my 3rd day of treatment with no change in pain status. Have gargled every few hours with salt or apple cider vinegar; no relief. Should I become worried?
You post a lot about your throat issues. Have you ever seen a doctor for them? You get these symptoms enough that it's time to be evaluated for them. Even if it is allergies, there are medications you can take that can help.
