I apparently have some type of urethritis. Burning sensation when I urinate (and a little all the time now) and the tip of the urethra (penis) is red. There was a very small red spot on the head of the penis for a couple of days but that has cleared up. After researching this I've concluded it could be any number of things. I sat in a hot tub with excessive foam on it, making me think there was too much chorine in it. I've also had more than my usual amount of alcohol lately.
In February, it felt like like razor blades when I was urinating (I am a 38 y/o female). First I was diagnosed with a yeast infection and treated with diflucan and metrinazole, no better. I got a second round of treatment and it helped somewhat, but not much. My Dr. and I both surmised it may have had something to do with the depo shot, as this had been right after my 2nd shot. I began using probiotics and candex (natural remedies) with some relief.
, the urethritis was gone. If the cause of the urethritis was nongonococcal then wouldn’t the Azithromycin have worked & symptoms been gone at least by the time I started and/or finished the Doxycycline?
Now, about 10 days ago after having sex with my female partner, the same symptoms of urethritis are back. No pharyngitis. So about 4 days ago I took 1 gram of Azithromycin followed by four days of 250mg per day just in case it was a nongonococcal urethritis.
If you have any idea what it could be i would greatly appreciate it. If i had to guess i would say its Urethritis ... or something similar. I plan on getting tested for all STDs as well as a test for bacteria/infection from my urethra to test for urethritis before this situation becomes much worse.

If the urine sample has turned out completely clear without any sign of inflammation residual urethritis is an unlikely possibility. Urethritis could be both STD/ non-STD related and in a few cases the actual symptoms may continue for a few weeks beyond the subsidence of actual infection. I would suggest taking plenty of fluids and a mild anti-inflammatory medications to ease the symptoms.
2) If this is trich or NGU urethritis...does the discharge cause any real concern? I sometimes put my hands in my mouth without washing them, on accident...like right after I touch the moistness or what I am calling this "discharge"...I am about to date someone new and wouldn't want to give them anything by kissing. Please help!

I have had unprotected oral sex many times in the past, and had a previous episode of urethritis about a year ago. The episode was severe, but cleared up quickly following a one time oral dose of either Cipro or Azithromycin. I recently had a second episode of dysuria after unprotected oral sex. I again took Azithromycin (2 GM), and Cipro (500 mg).
It has now been 4 1/2 days and the dysuria is only slightly better.
so far my problem is not being really diagnosed, currently I am being checked up exactly as per your understanding, my current Dr. wants to evaluate all possible options of inflamation/urethritis other than std/sti before labeling it as an std though i have insisted him the same way as i hve insisted you but he says my diagnosis has least to do what you are telling me
but i am pretty sure it is std and time will disclose this, i will keep you posting here ..
i have been having chronic urethritis for about 7months now every time i pee it stings and the inside tip and my whole urethra stings i have been to the doctor and they tested me for chlamydia and gonorrhea and a uti all came back negative i was wonder what else it could be and I'm starting to have lower back pain i tried going to the urologist but i cant afford it atm i was wondering if there's anything else that can make urethritis like this last for 7 months my gf said it could be her

However, considering my symptoms, does this sound like herpetic urethritis. If not, in your opinion, what other possiblities could it be? I will get tested for HSV-2 IgG at the three month mark. Until then, I am wondering if this is HSV-2. Thank you for your assistance.
I feel like i have to pee alot and most time just a small amount comes out. What could this be? I thought urethritis or a uti. But how long does it take for UTI symptoms to surface? Answers anyone?
Hello! I am 32 weeks pregnant, and I was just in big pain and diagnosed with urethritis and inflammation in the cervix. I was given 6 pills at the emerg (which I cannot remember what they were probably antibiotics) and an antibiotic cream called Dalacin vaginal cream. Ever since I started the treatment I first experienced stomach cramps and than liquid diarrhea for the past 24 hours. Dalacin cautions me to consult a doctor if the diarrhea comes on as a side effect.
11 days ago I was treated for urethritis (clear liquid when tip of penis is squeezed, pin prick feeling in the tip of the penis, and tenderness in the penis as well as scrotum) under the assumption for either Gonorrhea and/or Chlamydia with azithromycin 1g and cefixime 400mg, which only could have been contracted by unprotected Felacio received by a female.
All tests results (urine and swab) came back negative. Yet to this day symptoms persist.
i do develop urethritis without discharge whenever i have a ejaculation-- doxicycline seems to help but only for some time. did smear--clamydia and gonoccocs negative. E coli Enterobacter cloacae Candida Albicans and streptococcus are all positive. lymphnodes in the groin are swollen and my urethra is burning like hell.
Welcome to the Forum. From the sounds of things you have non-gonococcal urethritis (NGU), a common penile infection which can be caused by a variety of difficult to grow bacteria. The recommended treatment is either doxycycline, 100 mg twice daily for 7 days or azithromycin, 1.0 gram by mouth as a single dose. Thus the therapy you have had is appropriate.
So yesterday I went to the hospital and the doctor diagnosed me with urethritis how would I know if this was cause by herpes or not?
So I was diagnosed with urethritis and the doctor didnt tell me not to have sex well I used protection and im wondering since I used protection would she be safe?
However since the tests I have developed some symptoms of urethritis, although not quite textbook. I have had a persistent burning feeling in the urethra, but not dysuria and some subtle testicular pain. No discharge. It should be noted that in that time I have had unprotected oral and anal sex with my usual partner which i guess could cause urethritis potentially?
Anyway, I have returned to my doctor who has performed a midstream urine microscopy and culture.
Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny. If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection). It would be unusual to have testicular symptoms without urethritis symptoms as well. Thus your risk is low but not zero.
As for receipt of oral sex, oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs. Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny. If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection) by now although symptoms onset can sometimes take a week or so.
