996946 tn?1503249112 My new kitty, Tommy, is thriving, filling out from being so thin, really coming into his own. He is a joy to be around, really a perfect cat in every sense of the word. I do have two concerns. First, he does beg for food. He acts like he would eat anything. I'm strict about only allowing him cat food...but I do buy every flavor of those Friskies Temptations. We give them to him 3-4 times a day. He loves them all but I'm wondering if he's eating them in place of his food.
1707870 tn?1307973152 s the treats quota for today, and to put the kibble in her pocket, and she had better make those treats last all day! You will be able to work out how much kibble he's been given, and simply cut that amount out of his meals. That way he will get exactly the same amount of food and no more than he should have. That won't do him any harm at all. But all this treating might make him obsessed with food! Really, people ought to respect owners wishes when it comes to feeding their dogs.
Avatar m tn We have a dog, "Sparky" 4 yr old white shepard yellow lab mix. My wife is very concerned about the treats I give him. It's my fault I know I started something bad but each afternoon I'd give him a few Beggin Strips or Pup-er-oni's I buy from Meijer's food store, I buy the Meiger brand because it's cheaper but my wife is worried about him gettin really sick because of the food recalls from China and I really don't know if these treats are made there and imported.

That vent having been released, I'll tell you that (assuming I am ever dx'ed) I would vote for an MS Neuro if there is one within a reasonable distance, but beyond that, I'd think my PCP is more likely to listen to me than a general neuro.

903476 tn?1242237037 I don't know what to do about my Miniature American Eskimo shes addicted to treats and it's not part of her routine. It's not like I have a time or day or use them as a reward after she eats or come back in from outside it's random when shes gets them. She also gets them during training or when we go for a walk. I have no set pattern but she will wake me up in the middle of the night and walk me over to the counter where her treats are kept and whine till she gets one.

Avatar f tn A friend of mine came over on Monday night, and gave my kitty way too many treats without me noticing. He ate all the treats, and then threw them all up a few hours later. Now it seems like he keeps throwing up every 3-4 hours. After the first 1-2 times, there was no food or treats in the vomit, it just seemed like a beige-y clear liquid, with bubbles. It does not smell, and it's only a little bit of it.
746512 tn?1388807580 They come in a resealable foil pouch and contains about a 60 day supply of treats. These treats supposedly reduce the severity of symptoms and the frequency of flare-ups as well. My cats really like the taste of these treats and readily devour them. But as with all new foods and treats, you will want to introduce it very slowly so that they do not get an upset stomach. We wouldn’t want your cat to get diarrhea from a rapid change or introduction to new food.
168348 tn?1379357075 my daughter innocently gave our ShihTzu 2 soft chewy treats (the kind in a pouch that aren't exactly healthy and reserved for really really good behavior LOL) ..... and she engulfed them whole and didn't chew them up. I guess cause she was so excited ??? Anyway, she was gagging but breathing and then finally up they came with a lot more and she was fine. We'll cut them in bite size pieces in the treat jar from now on, but anybody else's dog do this .. how scary.

Avatar m tn I was curious, is there any treats out there that are safe to feed your dog? I've been researching toxins in dog treats/food! And what I found is just shocking! So, many that are on shelves today, dogs are getting sick or it will cause health probelms down the road. I'm thinking of making my own dog treats. I don't even know where I should get a reciepe from. Any help?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, it's chronic. However, the vet said he may live a year or two with a good quality of life, because it was diagnosed and special diet started before he had any symptoms except increased thirst and urination. He's young enough to need behavior training, and we like to use treats to reinforce learning, but I don't want to give him treats that put stress on his kidneys.
482754 tn?1341791494 Does anyone out there have a dog on Hills U/D pres. diet food? My vet put Roxy, my 7 yr. old bichon on this food after having to remove a calcium oxylate stone from her bladder. These formations cause extreme pain and can only be removed surgically and are very likey to form again. So to try prevent any future stones forming this is the only food she is allowed to have ... and NO treats.
Avatar m tn My dog who is a 5 month old yorkie, choked on a Dentastix Oral care snack on Saturday. Then he coughed it up and ate it. then on Sunday I gave him half a treat and he seemed to have choked on it too. so then today I cut it in fourths and gave him 2 tiny pieces where he seemed to do the same thing. When he eats his food or water he seems fine. I am just wondering if maybe his troat is sore or scratched and needs to heal?

Avatar m tn The vet told me to give her fish oil, omega 3, or make her treats with it. I was wondering if the liquid fish oil you buy for dogs is ok to bake with. I'd like to make some treats, but I don't want to risk making my dog sick but cooking the oil. I also don't know if cooking it will defeat the purpose...if it was reduce the effectiveness of the omega 3s. Has anyone tried this before?
