Could my doctor be confused between Chlamydia pneumoniae and Chlamydia trachomatis (the former is not a STD I believe?) based on the blood test? I did have sore throat and cold/allergy-like symptoms in early Apr 09 (around 4/3-4/5)
4. Should I ask all my previous sex partners to do a STD test (prior to K)? If I indeed had Chlamydia I need to tell them asap to prevent serious health problems to them.

After 4 weeks on the 27th April I tested for HIV (4th gen test), syphilis (VDRL), chlamydia trachomatis (igg and igm), herpes, hepatitis b and c. All tests negative. I visited the STD clinic on the same day and the doctor did the urethral swab where he did not notice anything. I repeated tests 2 weeks later on the 10th April.
I have read this article which states Chlamydia Pneumoniae can be transmitted to the genital area through oral sex where it then advances to Chlamydia Trachomatis (www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/102418). I have not found any other sources about this being able to happen. Is it possible for the disease C. Pneumoniae to progress to C. Trachomatis through oral sex?
Hi, normally C. pneumoniae is found in respiratory infections and causes bronchitis and walking pneumonia. C. trachomatis is found in genital specimens and causes STD's. I'm trying to find the reason they have both tests in one since they are from different site. I'll get back to you. The only thing I can think of is it came from oral sex and someone had it in their throat and gave it to you? Otherwise, I need to find out what the purpose of having C. pneumo and C.

I was tested for chlamydia trachomatis PCR 2 days after unprotected oral sex and was negative. I am on third week after exposure and no symptoms - no discharge, no pain or burning sensation while/after urinating

You likely have Chlamydia Trachomatis Tonsillopharyngitis, which hasn't been resolved yet.
The issue may be with Azithromycin, which may have more bacteriostatic activity and less bactericidal activity against the Chlamydia Trachomatis bacterium (the probable infectious pathogen).
If the immune system is compromised, the Azithromycin's bacteriostatic action would be rather ineffective, since the immune system is less able to identify and destroy the now static bacteria.
Hi, I recently did a STD/STI Test, my C TRACHOMATIS IGG reading was 4.8 but was interpreted as negative by the testing lab, my doctor said it’s under 21. My question is, what does the 4.8 reading mean? Does it mean that I had the infection at some time in the past for it to show 4.8? Like a past infection? Does the 4.8 mean that there is still traces in my blood? My doctor also never put me on any antibiotics and I have never taken anything before for a Chlamydia infection?

Hey. I went to the doctor to test me for stds, which blood was withdraw and no urine asked for. she just tested me for TRACHOMATIS. I thought that's only tested with urine or a swab.
Is it standard practice to test for the following STDS, to determine a HERPES I infection, or is there more going on?.:

Zithromax contains azithromycin and is mostly used for STD’s like non gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis due to Chlamydia trachomatis. It is usually not the drug of choice for UTI but is mostly used in otitis media (infection of the middle ear), tonsillitis, laryngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, and sinusitis.

I need an expert advice regarding the above mentioned question on a suspected Chlamydia trachomatis infection of my gut. In 2012, I was first diagnosed with Chlamydia tr. after having unprotected sex with my new girlfriend. This urinary tract infection was "cured" with 1g of Azithromycin. However, I (the stupid naive 20 year old guy I was) forgot about the good old ping-pong effect.
I posted here because I was curious if anyone knew about fluoroquinolone resistance in C. Trachomatis (levofloxacin vs. ciprofloxacin, bacteriostatic or bactericidal effects), or anything along those lines.
For anyone reading this in a similar position, I followed up with my urologist over the phone, who advised that a recurrence of swelling and pain after d/c'ing antibiotics is typical with epididymitis and a NSAID like ibuprofen should be all that's needed.
