250701 tn?1320974765 I took antibiotics quite a bit while on treatment but not because I was sick, I don't actually recall being sick on treatment. I was on antibiotics to keep me from getting sick when my white counts dropped, first it was run of the mill antibiotics and eventually heavy duty ones that ran about $750 for about a 200ml bottle. So...yes, you can take antibiotics while on treatment and some docs will put you on them as a preventative measure depending on your individual circumstances.
Avatar m tn I would like to request that a new forum be created for Peripheral nerve hyperexcitability (PNH), which also covers a spectrum of disorders that exhibit the symptoms of continuous involuntary muscle fiber activity Over the years a variety of names have been used to describe these symptoms normally based on clinical observations.
Avatar m tn In contrast to what's written above, there are many people who believe that ADHD and Autism and Asperger's are all part of the same "spectrum" of disorders. From what I have gathered thus far, there can be SOME similarity in symptoms between the disorders. However, there are usually specific symptoms that designate one disorder or another. I think that there is going to be some debate about this in the medical community for some time to come.
1130586 tn?1316266292 Because the antiviral activity of DRACO is so broad spectrum, we hope that it may even be useful against outbreaks of new or mutated viruses, such as the 2003 SARS [severe acute respiratory syndrome] outbreak.
Avatar m tn tics increase as a result of stress, fatigue, boredom,or high energy emotions, anxiety etc whereas concentrating on an absorbing activity often leads to a decrease in tics. Tourette syndrome is the more severe expression of a spectrum of tic disorders, which are thought to be due to the same genetic vulnerability. Other conditions that may manifest tics are developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, Duchene dystrophy.
1255505 tn?1272819115 The current thinking is that bipolar is on a spectrum of affective disorders or even on a spectrum that includes schizo-affective disorder and schizophrenia on it's high end. What consideration have any of you given to bipolar being on a spectrum of affective-epileptic disorders? I've seen others ask this question on the internets.
1255530 tn?1269867619 The following is from a site (you can do your own searches if you would like to look deeper). There is a wealth of material out on the web (autism society in many states also that you can look up in yours for a local chapter/group). ..... Symptoms of Autism Differ from Person to Person There is a saying in the autism field: "if you've met one person with autism, you've met one person with autism.
Avatar n tn When my child was first assessed by Speech/Language professional she told me straight away that with that kind of speech problem it is usually autistic spectrum disorder eg. not understanding pronouns (I, me, you, she, he, his, hers, they, them etc); difference in receptive/expressive language (expressive language at age 7, receptive at age 3) and echolalia.
172023 tn?1334672284 Hoarding, specifically, is a perplexing subset of the anxiety and compulsive behavior spectrum. It is one that is particularly hard to treat, and has a high rate of relapse. There are many people suffering alone with this disorder, and many more whose families are devasted by it, emotionally, physically, and financially. I think it would be a worthwhile community.
Avatar m tn Interferon boosts the immune system to attack liver cells infected with hepatitis C virus and inhibits viral replication. Ribavirin has a broad-spectrum of antiviral activity and inhibits replication and infectivity of the virus. There can be many side effects associated with interferon, some of which include flu-like symptoms, nausea, depression, injection site reactions and lowering of certain blood counts. Ribavirin can cause anemia, fatigue, headache and skin rash.
Avatar m tn The main requirements for them are (1) high IFN-inducing activity, (2) absence of side effects, (3) wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity, (4) broad therapeutic security and, (5) good solubility in water and biologic liquids. IFN inducers stimulate IFN production in different cells and organs, and that determines the strategy for their application. Amixin (OOO "Lancepharm," Moscow, Russia) induces IFN-?/? production mostly in T cells. Cycloferon (NTFF "Polysan," St.
Avatar f tn ve heard that karate is a good activity as is martial arts of any sort. It helps with the idea of self control which I know parents such as us work on that a lot. Well, good luck. By the way, how do the 'cubs' handle his outbursts?
Avatar f tn If you google Temple Grandin (you probably have heard of her), and read her experiences of sensory perceptual difficulties, you will see that she says that she believes all those on the spectrum have sensory perceptual differences ranging from mild to severe. These difficulties are ususally called Sensory Integration Disorder and it is an OT who would assess and put together a programme. However OTs understanding of what is going on is somewhat limited.
Avatar m tn thanks for your reply. I have been HIV+ since 1988; I was tested across the STD spectrum a number of years ago and nothing remarkable was found. I have very little sexual activity these days; hence my concern over this one awkward adventure. I will ask my physician on my next scheduled visit to draw enough for a big range test, including HSV-2. I do very much appreciate knowing that there is little data on oral transmission; being at the lower end of the risk scale is good to know.

Avatar n tn Hi, My son will turn 2 years old next month. My question is, my son loves to stimulate his eye through spinning wheels and he also likes to walk very close to the walls and follows vertical lines with the corner of his eye. Dos this mean he is autistic. I'm very confused because he is very sociable with ppl(not kids) and likes to play with us, smiles alot, does pretend play, know his mom and dad and many members of the family.Has good eye contact only when he is playing.
Avatar f tn Her response to noise may be down to Sensory Integration Disorder, again common with those on the spectrum. Any or all of the senses can be over or under sensitive - it it can fluctuate day to day or even throughout the day. So her response maybe to the noise she finds sudden/unpredictable or unbearable.

6726276 tn?1421126668 Full Spectrum Disorder. I like the implications of the way this sounds. That's how I'm considering Bipolar disorder these days. Don't you think the way we quantify things give us a better outlook? Now, if there were a better word than "Disorder".
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm not a doctor but I do have three sons who are on the autism spectrum. My firstborn, who is now 17 years old, was first diagnosed with ADHD at the age of five. I knew there was something more to that diagnosis because he would do things that even as a first time parent I knew it wasn't right.
Avatar f tn Autism has nothing to do with to much children's t.v. I think Television does however play a role in a child's attention span. A child with Autism would usually not have an attention span that allows them to watch "to much t.v". I have a 4 year old son who has severe Autism, however his motor skills and talking skills are wonderful and very normal for his age. Autism is a spectrum, there isn't just one severity of it, and different children show different signs of Autism.
