I would like to request that a new forum be created for Peripheral nerve hyperexcitability (PNH), which also covers a spectrum of disorders that exhibit the symptoms of continuous involuntary muscle fiber activity Over the years a variety of names have been used to describe these symptoms normally based on clinical observations.
In contrast to what's written above, there are many people who believe that ADHD and Autism and Asperger's are all part of the same "spectrum" of disorders. From what I have gathered thus far, there can be SOME similarity in symptoms between the disorders. However, there are usually specific symptoms that designate one disorder or another.
I think that there is going to be some debate about this in the medical community for some time to come.

When my child was first assessed by Speech/Language professional she told me straight away that with that kind of speech problem it is usually autistic spectrum disorder eg. not understanding pronouns (I, me, you, she, he, his, hers, they, them etc); difference in receptive/expressive language (expressive language at age 7, receptive at age 3) and echolalia.

If you google Temple Grandin (you probably have heard of her), and read her experiences of sensory perceptual difficulties, you will see that she says that she believes all those on the spectrum have sensory perceptual differences ranging from mild to severe.
These difficulties are ususally called Sensory Integration Disorder and it is an OT who would assess and put together a programme. However OTs understanding of what is going on is somewhat limited.
thanks for your reply. I have been HIV+ since 1988; I was tested across the STD spectrum a number of years ago and nothing remarkable was found. I have very little sexual activity these days; hence my concern over this one awkward adventure. I will ask my physician on my next scheduled visit to draw enough for a big range test, including HSV-2. I do very much appreciate knowing that there is little data on oral transmission; being at the lower end of the risk scale is good to know.

Abstract
Rifaximin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that has been approved by FDA for reduction in the risk for recurrence of overt hepatic encephalopathy, a debilitating disorder caused by the inability of the liver to remove bacterial-derived toxic by-products, specifically ammonia.
If these are not localized issues and part of a spectrum of symptoms, you need to consult a neurologist for investigating for demyelinating disease called multiple sclerosis where the disease phase is characterized by active phase and remissions. It has multiple symptoms and signs and is a diagnosis of exclusion. The symptoms of multiple sclerosis are loss of balance, muscle spasms, numbness in any area, problems with walking and coordination, tremors in one or more arms and legs.
Hi, My son will turn 2 years old next month. My question is, my son loves to stimulate his eye through spinning wheels and he also likes to walk very close to the walls and follows vertical lines with the corner of his eye. Dos this mean he is autistic. I'm very confused because he is very sociable with ppl(not kids) and likes to play with us, smiles alot, does pretend play, know his mom and dad and many members of the family.Has good eye contact only when he is playing.
Her response to noise may be down to Sensory Integration Disorder, again common with those on the spectrum. Any or all of the senses can be over or under sensitive - it it can fluctuate day to day or even throughout the day. So her response maybe to the noise she finds sudden/unpredictable or unbearable.

I'm not a doctor but I do have three sons who are on the autism spectrum. My firstborn, who is now 17 years old, was first diagnosed with ADHD at the age of five. I knew there was something more to that diagnosis because he would do things that even as a first time parent I knew it wasn't right.
Autism has nothing to do with to much children's t.v. I think Television does however play a role in a child's attention span. A child with Autism would usually not have an attention span that allows them to watch "to much t.v".
I have a 4 year old son who has severe Autism, however his motor skills and talking skills are wonderful and very normal for his age. Autism is a spectrum, there isn't just one severity of it, and different children show different signs of Autism.
