Avatar n tn Hi Everyone, has anyone had their p450 2D6 checked for Tamoxifen metabolism?? I am an intermediate metabolizer and can't find any info on how our dosage is changed. Would appreciate any thoughts on this.
250701 tn?1320974765 The Incivek prescribing informations lists clarithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin as antibacterials that can cause drug interaction. "Concentrations of both telaprevir and the antibacterial may be increased during co-administration. Caution is warranted and clinical monitoring is recommended when co-administered with telaprevir. QT interval prolongation and Torsade de Pointes have been reported with clarithromycin and erythromycin.
Avatar n tn Morphine itself, however, is not affected by grapefruit juice, as it is not metabolized by the cytochrome P450 system. * Cyclosporine (Neoral). Blood levels of cyclosporine are increased if taken with grapefruit juice. A plausible mechanism involves the combined inhibition of enteric CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein, which potentially leads to serious adverse events (e.g., nephrotoxicity).Blood levels of tacrolimus (Prograf) can also be equally affected for the same reason as with cyclosporine.
Avatar n tn Plavix (Clopidogrel) requires cytochrome P450 enzymes produced in the Liver, and specifically cytochrome P450 2C19. Some proton pump inhibitors (e.g. omeprazole) can reduce these enzymes making Plavix far less effective.
Avatar n tn However neither interferon or ribavirin is metabolized by that particular enzyme(p450) so it is OK to drink your grapefruit juice. Stay Healthy!
Avatar n tn Many medications are broken down by the liver using an enzyme called cytochrome P450, which is inhibited by grapefruit juice. Consequently, grapefruit juice can increase the levels of many drugs in the body, including several cholesterol-lowering statins. However, grapefruit juice does not interfere with the metabolism of beta blockers.
Avatar n tn Yes, but Resveratrol utilizes cytochrome p450 to metabolize, competing with statins. So if somebody is on statins should be very careful before taking it.
233616 tn?1312787196 m uncertain as to how the effect to tricyclics on this P450 gene relate to overall iron levels and whether they are safer or less safe than tetracyclics or SSRI's in this regard. If you could shed any light here it would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn I think as long as you are not taking any drugs that are metabolized in the p450 system, and you can look them up as Marcia suggested above you can take it. Interferon and ribavirin are not metabolized there so if that is all you are taking go ahead, at the recommended dose. I would not turn down help from any quarter in beating this virus!
Avatar m tn s inhibition of cytochrome P450, which metabolizes drugs. While the inhibition of cytochrome P450 and its isoforms P2E1 and P3A4 is advantageous to protect your mitochondria from the damage caused by the hep c virus and to inhibit the virus from replicating, it can also inhibit your body's ability to metabolize some of the drugs you may be taking, exposing you to the possibility of overdose.
Avatar f tn In a study publshied about patm this year they talked about toluene emission from patmers being high and that it might be a problem of liver p450 activity..I was found with low p450 activity. From normal blood tests i was also found with high limit of transaminase that might be fatty liver, which microbiome test also indicated.
Avatar f tn Grapefruit ties up the cytochrome P450 system so it affects drug clearance. It is not a good thing to do while on treatment.
Avatar m tn Mechanism of Injury The mechanism of liver injury from tadalafil is unknown, but it is metabolized in the liver via the cytochrome P450 system (CYP 3A4) and a toxic or immunogenic intermediate may account for the rare instances of hepatic injury linked to its use. Outcome and Management The liver injury linked to tadalafil has been self-limited and resolving within 2 to 3 months.
Avatar m tn s production of cytochrome P450, I am wondering about switching from simvastatin to pravastatin. That would allow me to try CBD, which appears to have minimal side-effects. I also wouldn't mind getting more than a few hours of sleep per night. That said, am I taking a risk by switching statins after three decades? I haven't been able to find any significant and update research that covers this situations. Thank you.
Avatar m tn My research showed all these chemicals have a common thread of having aromatic ring with N and their metabolism is through hepatic Cytochrome P450. Rare side effects experienced were blurred vision, dizziness, loss of appetite; oral dystonia invloving tongue; paradoxical effect, insomnia; its metabolites related symptoms (due to is prolonged half life); dizziness; severe hypotension (blood pressure dropped to 80) and developed rash on arms.
Avatar m tn My suggestion is that he get into Rehab or stop dikking around. This is a serious disease and he will speed up the progression of it if he doesn't quit playing with fire. I was diagnosed as a stage 1, grade 1 to focally 2 in June 2005. That is after becoming toxic in late 2002 while using dope, not too different what he's doing. I'm gonna go out of my way here and tell you what I was doing, I was doing vicodin and heroin and valium.
Avatar m tn The other thing to mention about botanicals - and prescription drugs as well, is the Cytochrome P450 system. This system was discovered by CS Lieber, I believe, the scientist that did all the anti-fibrotic studies on PC (phosphatidylcholine). Anyway herbivores like cows are full of cytochrome P450 because they eat all kinds of botanicals that their metabolism has not evolved to deal with. So the Cytochrome P450 system is responsible for binding and escorting those compounds out of our bodies.
Avatar m tn Toluene is absorbed and coverted into phenol in the liver by p450 citocromes. Then it is converted 2 more times before going to kidneys to be aliminated. As it seems, the liver is not transforming the toluene into phenol to be eliminated so the metilation is not working.I tested with OAT and my metilation is very low 0.25 range being 1.5-4.I also had mitocondria and fatty acid oxidation problems and some detox acid being very low.
Avatar f tn 5 g/dL Autoantibodies may include the following Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) Anti-smooth muscle antibody (SMA) Anti-liver/kidney microsomal type 1 (LKM-1) antibody Antimitochondrial antibody (AMA) Anti-soluble liver antigen (SLA) antibody Autoantibodies may not be present in 10-30% of patients with clinical features of AIH Histology to evaluate liver inflammation and fibrosis Laboratory Testing Liver fu
Avatar n tn does this make sense? since your antibodies are unaffected by alcohol (the cytochrome P450 in your liver gets the blunt of that attack) it won't make them disappear. i hope this helps.
Avatar m tn However neither interferon or ribavirin is metabolized by that particular enzyme(p450) so it is OK to drink your grapefruit juice. Stay Healthy!
Avatar m tn Class I, Level A * The dose of daclatasvir may need to increase or decrease when used concomitantly with cytochrome P450 3A/4 inducers and inhibitors, respectively.
