250701 tn?1320974765 The Incivek prescribing informations lists clarithromycin, erythromycin and telithromycin as antibacterials that can cause drug interaction. "Concentrations of both telaprevir and the antibacterial may be increased during co-administration. Caution is warranted and clinical monitoring is recommended when co-administered with telaprevir. QT interval prolongation and Torsade de Pointes have been reported with clarithromycin and erythromycin.
Avatar f tn As Sir_Osis mentioned propranolol is a beta blocker, which lowers blood pressure and heart rate. I would imagine that an overdose would severely drop someone's blood pressure...which in turn, would decrease the blood supply to the organs (which obviously includes the liver). This drop in blood supply to the liver could cause a "shock to the liver" and elevate liver enzymes. I have seen where someone's liver enzymes began trending downwards after a similar event occurred.
Avatar m tn Two months ago, not being fully aware of the dangers, I had 4-5 alcoholic drinks and took 3 vicodin pills (1500mg acetaminophen). I never really showed symptoms of hepatoxicity, but I'm wondering if I still could have caused more chronic damage to my liver. I had only rarely used acetaminophen prior to this (maybe once per year) and have not touched it since. For a while, I experienced a heartburn/bloating sensation and was diagnosed with gastritis.
897400 tn?1303329148 Anticholinergic effects occur less often with tianeptine than with tricyclic agents. Hepatoxicity is rare. The dosage should be decreased in elderly patients and those with severe renal failure, but adjustment is not necessary in patients with alcoholism or hepatic impairment, or those undergoing haemodialysis.
917763 tn?1311628896 I understand it has significant hepatoxicity, along with other adverse side effects.
179856 tn?1333547362 I have looked at this before because my husband has leg cramps to but he also has cirrhosis so I check things out before giving him new things. They have some cases of hepatoxicity caused from quinine. Maybe they were taking way too much,I don't know, but at least with my husbands case, I can't take the chanse so he will have to suffer the leg cramps. If you google quinine, there is lots of information. Tonic water does have much less quinine than the supplements had.
Avatar m tn My question is, does anyone think the sores or welts or whatever are caused by hepatoxicity from the tylanol and the booze? Now that I can visually see the damage I'm doing to myself, I'm quitting, I've had half a norco for all day today, but I did drink. The opiate w/d will suck for sure, but i think the alcohol will be a bigger deal for me. I'm also taking 1mg everynight of clonazapam. All advise and support welcome. rg!
Avatar n tn I cant give you much medical information without dosage, frequency and other intangibles. 25 a day is a lot, assuming its the minimal dosage of 325mg APAP, that comes to over 8,000mg a day, twice the recommended limit. Here's something I read online: http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=1&q=http://www.medicinenet.com/acetaminophen/article.
1580703 tn?1651904887 babesiosis is treated with a combination of two types of anti-parasite drugs, atovaquone (Mepron, Malarone) plus an erythromycin-type drug (azithromycin, clarithromycin, or telithromycin). Long-standing infections may need to be treated for several months, and relapses sometimes occur and must be retreated. So I would get tested for these co-infections and not kill yourself with all the antibiotics if you don't have these organisms. Do you have a laboratory where they can test for these?
Avatar f tn Currently the recommended maximum dose of 4g / day, however, some US internists are now calling for a lower maximum of 3g / day -- not because of hepatoxicity is found at 4,000mg, but because acetaminophen is included in so many OTC remedies for symptoms of colds and flu, sleep disturbance, allergy, and of course, pain, that many people are getting near or over the limit without realizing it. In 2013 the FDA mandated changes in opioid formulations containing acetaminophen.
Avatar n tn re high, going online and looking up what we are doing to ourselves. Hepatoxicity (toxic liver) can begin as low as 4000mg/day. Just because you don't get sick today doesn't mean you wont tomorrow. Actually, it means you have a better chance of getting sick tomorrow. Sustained high levels of APAP is very damaging. After a while at high sustained levels you are at risk of hepatic failure. This is when you dont wake up. Get some help before its too late.
1815939 tn?1377991799 If phlebotomy is not convenient or is contraindicated or for patients with relatively mild iron overload, oral chloroquine phosphate (125–250 mg per oral (PO) twice weekly) or hydroxychloroquine sulfate (100–200 mg PO 2–3 times/week), doses much lower than those used for antimalarial or photoprotective indications, can be effective, although significant caution has to be applied in patients with hepatitis C, where hepatoxicity can occur even at low doses of these medications.
1840891 tn?1431547793 htm, which notes post-marketing reports of drug- induced hepatoxicity, some leading to complete failure of the liver. I decided to ask my hepatologist before trying this medication. I truly expected him to say no, but instead his email reply was simply "okay to use." I've since tried this gel cautiously, in about half the recommended amount and only 1-2 times per day rather than every 4 hours.
233616 tn?1312787196 Drug interactions in the Liver 101. What you need to know. My clinic has postponed treating any patients with triple therapy until their software is updated to include all of the newest information regarding P450 interactions. Therefore I’m NOT the only person realizing just how crucial and important this all has become. Ergo I’ve decided to regroup my thoughts and explain the basics.
Avatar n tn If I remember it right some patients can have hepatoxicity and lactic acidosis, but my doctor said, very very rarely. Companies just put it there as side effects so they will not be sued. And I read that it happens to obese or overweight patients. With regards to nodules that can be risk for liver cancer, why dont you try the "miracle drink". As what I have read the "juice" can slow growth of cancer cells. Whatever it is, the juice is really healthy.
801188 tn?1241647626 That would be the largest concern with hepatoxicity. Especially in the UK/Canada/Australia where people try and sustain a codeine habit with 10mg pills that also have a gob of one of the two other analgesics - the codeine may be extracted, but most do not know how to do this. Valium isnt really a sleeping pill either...I dont know whats available in the Uk - but trazadone is an effective sleep aid that works and is safe and non addictive.
