406399 tn?1201884300 and I was put on a beta blocker from that point on.. as to stop the palps and control the b.p. / the Toprol xl and diovan both lowered b.p well and stopped the palps for me.. but iv been living life in pain and suffering for 6years now.. as the side effects from toprol and diovan are very harsh for me! I cant understand why a Doctor would go backwords and put me back on a medication that caused me problems before? seems strange to me !
Avatar n tn t smoke, do exercise, am thin). My doctor put me on a diuretic, Tekturna and Bystolic, and within a week I had completely lost my sense of taste! Anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's a side effect that will wear off if I just stick it out. The combination seems to be working well to lower my bp and hr but I'm losing weight (a bad thing) and really, really miss food!
362971 tn?1201987034 I guess what I am realy asking, which everybody missed is ---- Could my tolerating the carbs be because my Liver enzymes are normal and the Virus is undetected. Or does TX just rev up the metabolism.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm not quite sure this is the best place for this question, but here it goes. Several months ago, almost 5, I started to develop pain and tingling in my left leg. On the outside, starting at the hip and going down to the kneecap. After a few visits to the doctor and different tests he's narrowed it down to either some nerve compression in the leg itself from some benign cysts that have been there since I was a kid or from a case of sciatica.
Avatar m tn I had to rescedule to this Monday the 17 for the screening.....really busy at work...its ok tho....im still goin for it....trial starts in Oct....all is well.
Avatar n tn Tylenol is a great drug in moderation, and for brief periods of time. Also, what a lot of people don't realize is JUST how many OTC meds (ie cold meds, etc) have acetaminophen in them. It is always good to read labels before taking an OTC med and stick to the daily maximums printed on the labels...they are there for a reason. A few days of taking the max dose of tylenol in a normal average person really shouldn't present a problem.
5392063 tn?1390319154 Now for those like me who already have a form of liver disease, my liver cannot work as well as the healthy persons liver. So, if you lets say have cirrhosis and abuse pain pills, you will make it worse. Its a pretty simple concept really.
Avatar f tn In fact when I person has End-Stage Liver Disease (the final stage of liver disease), when a patients liver is beginning to fail, yogurt with live bacteria, can be helpful in relieving one of main complications that sometimes occurs. Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE). Which is caused by a build up of toxins in the GI track. Cheers!
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma and it spread to my liver. is my liver compromised by this?
Avatar f tn t gotten any news except for the fact that the levels are 46,000 and my enzymes were slightly elevated. The doctor is sending me to a liver specialist and for some other testing. She said that they may not treat me???UM I like have a freaking disease that I would like to get rid of or at least try to! So instead of treating they just watch me until it gets worse?
Avatar m tn Get treated now for your hepatitis C to prevent further damage to your liver. Hepatitis C can cause cirrhosis of the liver, liver failure and liver cancer. Most baby boomers have been infected for many decades and may have significant liver disease. Like hepatitis C infection, liver disease even early cirrhosis usually has no symptoms until it is advanced. Hepatitis C is curable in most people now with new treatments.
Avatar m tn Hello, My mom was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis and has been in and out of the hospital 6yrs now..... at this stage fluid has built up in her belly and in one leg with blisters (she is in the hospital right now) they are giving her medication and anitbiotic to dry up the infection in the leg... but it is taking long to "dry up"... they are considering amputation...has anyone gone through this?

I just want the opinion of a doctor what do they think about my situation .
Avatar m tn Specifically, David said he would include reference to his treatment on the web site so as not to give the impresion he avoided it at all costs. And second, he would make clear that liver enzyme levels and viral load are cannot predict liver damage. No where on his web site did he ever say that Milk Thistle would cure HCV, so that was a non-issue even though some who didn't visit his web site kept bringing the "cure" thing up.
Avatar f tn All of the meds you are on are very common meds for treatment really. Most likely the ribavirin is what is keeping you up at night - unfortunately it's one of the problems we have. While we should always try to take the minimum of meds because of our liver damage - you have to remember we live in a real world and we gotta do what we gotta do.
489808 tn?1209049408 Hello.....I hope someone can relate with all of this.....cause I am tired of being sick & tired! First off I guess I'd like to give a little background. Starting in October 2007 my family has been hit with some pretty hard blows. 2 deaths, aunt's cancer came back, my grandma (who practically raised me) was diagnosed with breast cancer (she had a mastectomy & is recovering quite well). I had a miscarriage on 3/9 & had a DNC on 3/11.
Avatar f tn I was looking at a document on the web about Bartonella and saw something unfamiliar. It said that Bartonella Henselae and Bartonella Quintana can both cause peliosis of the liver. I'd never heard of peliosis. I went to look it up and came across a document that showed a picture of a liver scan that looks just like mine did 18 months ago. I had a good sized mass that was diagnosed as a focal nodular hyperplasia along with white smudgy spots the radiologist thought was fatty infiltration.
317787 tn?1473358451 The activity helps the blood flow, the water flushes the liver and kidneys and keeps you hydrated which is important also for your skin, blood pressure and muscles. Eating smaller meals does not put the stress on the liver all at one time as a large meal would since your liver works to filter everything you intake into your body at this point and at my point will sap my energy. Not as much if I eat smaller meals.
1024307 tn?1291998486 Actually it is the immune system response to the virus that causes liver damage. One could have very low viral load, but significant damage to the liver. Do a search on immune clearance in this forum. There are lot of eductional posts.
Avatar m tn Pain management is complicated and knowing the reason why your father is taking the meds he is prescribed as well as the long-term goals and effects seems like something you have a right to ask about.
