Avatar f tn The aim of the study was to examine the effect of omega-3 therapy on renal vascular function in relation to proteinuria and urinary excretion of N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase (NAG). 20 IgA Nephropathy patients aged 36.5 +/- 10 with creatinine clearance (Cr(cl)) 105 +/- 27 ml/min and proteinuria 3 +/- 2 g/24 h were given orally 810 mg EPA and 540 mg DHA daily for 12 months.
Avatar m tn Your doctor may have tried to treat you conservatively with this treatment based on a diagnosis of IgA nephropathy that he deduced from your symptoms and the test results without subjecting you to the pain and discomfort of a renal biopsy. Do ensure that you keep your fluid intake high and contact your doctor immediately if you develop additional symptoms, such as swelling in feet, under-eye puffiness, breathlessness, etc. Keep us posted on your doubts and progress.

575214 tn?1218040360 Hi, Thin basement membrane disease (TBMD, also known as benign familial hematuria and thin basement membrane nephropathy) is, along with IgA nephropathy, the most common cause of asymptomatic hematuria. The only abnormal finding in this disease is a thinning of the basement membrane of the glomeruli in the kidneys. Its importance lies in the fact that it has a benign prognosis, with patients maintaining a normal kidney function throughout their lives.

Avatar n tn Hi, yes you need to see a nephrologist. It could be IGA Nephropathy or kidney infections. You need to be checked for shapes of those RBCs and 24 hour protein volumn plus a pelvic ultra sound.
Avatar m tn it is very common to have them switched up every once in awhile. I have a diagnosis of IGA nephropathy and have been in the medical field for years. If you have any questions, you can send me a message. Take care.
406399 tn?1201884300 and I was put on a beta blocker from that point on.. as to stop the palps and control the b.p. / the Toprol xl and diovan both lowered b.p well and stopped the palps for me.. but iv been living life in pain and suffering for 6years now.. as the side effects from toprol and diovan are very harsh for me! I cant understand why a Doctor would go backwords and put me back on a medication that caused me problems before? seems strange to me !
Avatar m tn HLA-DR4 is also involved in some autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, phemphigus, obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, IgA nephropathy, and polymyalgia rheumatica. It is associated to different ethnic groups, including Askenazi Jews. Cases of false positive results of HIV tests have been associated to the presence of HLA-DR4, not false negative.
Avatar f tn It has been a long time since Ive posted, but I finally have some diagnoses. I have IGA nephropathy, epilepsy and UCTD. She is going to give it 2 years with UCTD and if I dont develop a more definitive autoimmune disease, then thats the diagnosis. Progress. She has placed me on Plaquenil and it is helping a lot with my fatigue. Things are looking up.
Avatar m tn m diagnosed with IGA nephropathy on kidneys so the same type of diet I follow.. I feel the same way about not having transplant. I prefer to change my diet .doctor told me I'm stage 1 because kidney function is still good...but I think low protein diet can stabilize it..
Avatar n tn t smoke, do exercise, am thin). My doctor put me on a diuretic, Tekturna and Bystolic, and within a week I had completely lost my sense of taste! Anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's a side effect that will wear off if I just stick it out. The combination seems to be working well to lower my bp and hr but I'm losing weight (a bad thing) and really, really miss food!
Avatar n tn Everytime I get checked up they tell me its either thrush or bacterial vaginosis and treat me for it but it comes back again with the next period. Also, I have IgA nephropathy and have been on low dose immunosuppressant (mycophenolate mofetil 250 mg twice daily) for the past 1.5 years. 4 days ago, I noticed a little bump in on my labia minora. and I thought maybe it was a boil and tried to break it. It is now pus filled and looks like a zit. its just the one.
575214 tn?1218040360 nt say anything about alports syndrome or giving it to my sons (i am female,) did your doc say you have iga nephropathy or high blood pressure, cause i have both as well and can be can be caused by tgbm, i also had biopsy last year,(exetremely painful) do you get alot of headaches and swelling in the feet ankles and hands?
Avatar f tn Sounds like you might have some kind of autoimmune disease going on with that high ANA level, maybe the starting of IGA NEPHROPATHY OR SJOGRUMS syndrome.Do you have dry skin or not enough salava or burning eyes? These can be indications.Did your doctor do a urine on you for protein or blood?
Avatar m tn It could be IgA nephropathy, which is the most common type of glomerulonephritis in adults worldwide. It usually presents with visibly bloody urine.
Avatar n tn After months of intrusive tests following multiple infections, my daughter was diagnosed with mild nephropathy a few years ago at the age of about 8 or 9, and then diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes a few months ago (at the age of 13). After the "mild nephropathy" diagnosis, she went to a specialist every year for a few years to check on the kidney damage, and it didn't change (ie didn't get worse), so they said she didn't need to keep going back.
Avatar m tn m 44 years old and was diagnosed with a kidney illness called IgA nephropathy when I was 18 and see a nephrologist once a year, however, to see him I must schedule about 6-8 months in advance so I just need to see my GP for this and you'd really think he'd take my health a bit more seriously but really, I find there just aren't many quality Drs out there these days who give a **** (aside from my most excellent nephrologist--who is extremely busy).
Avatar n tn I'm no doctor, but it sounds like reflux (urine backup in the kidney). I've never had it myself, but I have friends in the community that have, and it's very uncomfortable & painful. Is there no way you can get in sooner than a month from now? Reflux is nothing to mess with, because if left untreated (even for a short time), it can cause constant and recurring UTI's and bladder-infections. I'd urge you to try and get in sooner than a month from now.
