406399 tn?1201884300 and I was put on a beta blocker from that point on.. as to stop the palps and control the b.p. / the Toprol xl and diovan both lowered b.p well and stopped the palps for me.. but iv been living life in pain and suffering for 6years now.. as the side effects from toprol and diovan are very harsh for me! I cant understand why a Doctor would go backwords and put me back on a medication that caused me problems before? seems strange to me !
Avatar n tn t smoke, do exercise, am thin). My doctor put me on a diuretic, Tekturna and Bystolic, and within a week I had completely lost my sense of taste! Anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's a side effect that will wear off if I just stick it out. The combination seems to be working well to lower my bp and hr but I'm losing weight (a bad thing) and really, really miss food!
Avatar f tn Yes, the nodules could contribute to hoarseness. Hoarseness is a very common symptom of hypothyroidism. Have you been tested for hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis? Are you currently on any thyroid replacement hormones? If you have current thyroid labs (should have at least TSH, Free T3 and Free T4), please post the results, with reference ranges, which vary lab to lab and must be posted with results.
Avatar f tn were just signs of aging. I was sent to a pulmonologist for the coughing and hoarseness, and also to an allergist. Finally the endo deigned to palpate my throat and said "Oh, your thyroid IS a little enlarged. We'll just watch it for a year." After a year my symptoms had all increased and the hoarseness was much worse. An ultrasound showed multiple nodules about the size of yours on both lobes.
Avatar f tn I had a bad cold and then got laryngitis. That lasted 3 weeks and then the 4th week my voice came back but still hoarse. I have pain on my left side of my neck and tenderness on that side when I swallow. Dr checked me out and said throat is not red and gave me pills for acid reflux. It's been 4 days and don't think its acid reflux....voice and neck still the same. Anyone know what it could be ??
558632 tn?1303471125 anyone else have come and go hoarseness, i have hoarseness 4 to 5 days out of the week, with slight swellng in throat, then it goes away for a couple of days and comes back i have enlarged thyroid with a goiter and diagnosed with graves, thanks GW
Avatar f tn About three weeks ago I began becoming hoarse almost constantly and my sputum seems to have changed. I appears white or clear or sometimes pink and frothy. I have also recently had some sputum tinged yellowish. I am basically not feeling good at all and I have sudden extreme fatigue that feels as if I don't lie down I will get sick. Another change is that I have began to cough almost uncontrollably when I lie down.
Avatar m tn Each morning I wake up hoarse. After my coffee and beakfast my hoarseness goes away. This has been going on for a month. Why? This discussion is related to hoarseness.
369861 tn?1306275686 I believe that my hoarseness has multiple causes (including low thyroid and acid reflux). I encourage you to peruse these issues with your physicians. I apologize for being so long winded, and wish you the best of luck.
Avatar n tn Lisinpril can cause a chronic cough and you should stop this medication to see how the cough changes. It may be replaced with valsartan or candesartan which do not usually cause this side effect. The verapamil usually does not cause this side effect. This may not be related to your medications, and chronic cough or ' bronchial asthma' may actually be cardiac in nature ( e.g. CHF). Make sure your physician takes this other consideration into account.
203342 tn?1328737207 Have you had your thyroid ultrasound scanned, because you can have nodules on the thyroid, which is in the throat, and these can cause hoarseness, and like a raspy feeling in the throat and voice. I would have a thyroid blood test, and ultrasound of the thyroid, as this is were your problem might lie. I had a nodule on my thyroid, and it caused me hoarseness in the voice.
Avatar n tn do you have acid reflux Gerd.... cause that can cause you to have inflammation in that area and also the hoarseness and feeling like something stuck in your throat...
Avatar n tn I had hoarseness, I am a singer, so that was a problem for me. I had four nodules, three on the right and one on the left. We tried removing the right side to alleviate the hoarseness, turned out to be cancer, so I had the total thyroidectomy, no more hoarseness. Not to say you have cancer, there are many other factors, but there is a 5-15% chance of cancer. Your nodule that is 1.2 cm can be biopsied, I would suggest you have that done.
558632 tn?1303471125 I have been having off and on hoarseness since i was diagnosed graves in mid-June. Sometimes along with hoarseness the side of my neck hurts on the side that has the goiter. If you had an ultrasound and they found no defined nodules is that basically it, or can they develop where you would need another ultrasound? Many sites say hoarseness is a sign of cancer, so it scares me. Any comments?
Avatar f tn i totally loose my voice. went to an eent and cannot figure out what is causing hoarseness. i have taken antibiotics and even meds for gerd nothing happened still have hoarse voice. they said i have swollen vocal folds took antibiotics already and steroids no effect as well. my thyroid was also check and the test was clear. i was diagnosed with reinke's edema but i do not smoke meds given had no effect as well. what could be causing my hoarseness of voice please help?
Avatar f tn I remember last time I was on it, I was hypersensitive to it and they had to pull me off early (I remember having hoarseness at that time, but that wasn't the reason why they stopped it early - I hadn't even told them at that time about the hoarseness). My voice has been hoarse for the last 3 or 4 hrs.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone, I'm a 40 year old male. Last April I was preparing for a singing concert and had to use my voice regularly. During this time I also had a bad chest infection caused by a virus. I was hoarse but I had no choice but to continue training as the concert date was coming up. I'm also a full time teacher and therefore there is a high demand on my voice during the day too. Ever since then I've been suffering from a tired voice and hoarseness.
665587 tn?1265946924 Had my TT on Tuesday. Not very sore, but get short of breath with talking and voice is just a whisper. My questions is, should I use my voice to make it stronger or rest it?
Avatar f tn Hoarseness can be from enlargement of the gland and also interferring nodules. An ultra sound would be good to have done.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed in Feb with hashi/thyroiditis...I do not have a goiter - my TSH levels have dropped but I am getting moments of hoarseness. Is that just another "fun" part of this madness? Thanks yall!
Avatar f tn I would see an ENT, it could be thyroid and it could be GERD. I had hoarseness and nodules, I did have cancer. GERD can cause irritation to your vocal chords, but you need to see an ENT and have him scope your chords. When he scoped my chords they were fine, even though I did have GERD. I had a biopsy, they still could not tell if it was cancer. I am a singer, so hoarseness was not good, so I had 1/2 removed. Turned out I did have cancer, so I had a TT, then RAI.
