406399 tn?1201884300 and I was put on a beta blocker from that point on.. as to stop the palps and control the b.p. / the Toprol xl and diovan both lowered b.p well and stopped the palps for me.. but iv been living life in pain and suffering for 6years now.. as the side effects from toprol and diovan are very harsh for me! I cant understand why a Doctor would go backwords and put me back on a medication that caused me problems before? seems strange to me !
Avatar m tn html Recent Highlights and Developments Ongoing Phase II study of ARB-1467 evaluating two doses of ARB-1467 (0.2 mg/kg and 0.4 mg/kg) in HBV infected patients. Preclinical combination data presented at the 5th Antiviral Drugs Research and Development Conference showing additive anti-HBV activity when combining AB-423 (core protein/capsid assembly inhibitor) with entecavir or interferon.
Avatar n tn t smoke, do exercise, am thin). My doctor put me on a diuretic, Tekturna and Bystolic, and within a week I had completely lost my sense of taste! Anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if it's a side effect that will wear off if I just stick it out. The combination seems to be working well to lower my bp and hr but I'm losing weight (a bad thing) and really, really miss food!
88793 tn?1290227177 (Atacand is belongs to the group of ARB). My GP agreed that. My GP also said many and most of the diabetes patient also on that. Atacand is for the prevention of kidney failure. I just wish to know is that true? Are you all diabetes sufferers on ARB or Atacand? What is your doctor said?
Avatar m tn New Results from Phase II ARB-1467 Multi-Dosing Study In September 2016, Arbutus reported single dose ARB-1467 results for Cohorts 1 (0.2mg/kg) and 2 (0.4 mg/kg) and multiple dose results from Cohort 1 (Cohorts 1 and 2 enrolled HBeAg- patients). Today Arbutus is reporting multiple dose results from Cohort 2, which show a significant reduction in HBsAg. In both Cohort 1 and Cohort 2, an additive, step-wise reduction in HBsAg was observed with each dose.
Avatar f tn Long history incoming: I started getting mild headaches when I was 19. Nothing too imposing, just constantly there. Fast forward seven years and now I have migraines as well. At the peak, I was getting them 4-6 days a week. Fast forward another five years; I'm 32 and the migraines have gone down in frequency (but how, I don't know) and the headaches are still daily. I have experienced a long list of different symptoms, but I don't know how or if they are connected.
Avatar f tn t know if one brand of an ACE inhibitor or ARB brand is superior to another and may require trial and error procedure to find the right does and medication. Also, the medciation may take longer than expected to become effective! Hope this helps, and thanks for the question.
Avatar m tn These are the ACE drugs and the ARB drugs. The best,in my opinion is the ARB drug Losartan, invented 1990, approved 1995, sold about 2000 and out of patent 2010 (therefore inexpensive). This drug blocks angiotensin varients from attach to the cells walls of the vascular system and cause vasoconstriction. Dose is generally from 25mg to 100 mg a day. Over 100 mg doesn't help much more. They prescribe once a day, but you can break up the dose into two pills a day.
Avatar n tn I would encourage you to stay on this drug and if your cardiologist for some reason ever wants to take you off it, to make sure that he or she is aware of all the studies discussing ARB therapy and aortic root shrinkage. Please educate yourself on this - exceptionally important. I'm happy to answer any questions if you send me a private message.
Avatar n tn Click on my screenname and look at my old posts about ARB and aortic aneurysm. ARBs (like telmisartan) are drugs that have been shown to stop aortic dilatation in MFS patients because it reduces the signaling that causes the aortic dilatation. I believe this is the same signaling that causes myopia in MFS, so if you halt the signaling with ARBs, you might halt increases in myopia just like you halt increases in aortic size.
Avatar n tn Lisinpril can cause a chronic cough and you should stop this medication to see how the cough changes. It may be replaced with valsartan or candesartan which do not usually cause this side effect. The verapamil usually does not cause this side effect. This may not be related to your medications, and chronic cough or ' bronchial asthma' may actually be cardiac in nature ( e.g. CHF). Make sure your physician takes this other consideration into account.
Avatar m tn Like ARB-1467, which is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials with chronic HBV patients, ARB-1740 can inhibit HBsAg production even from integrated HBV and utilizes lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology to deliver siRNA to the infected liver. In vivo, ARB-1740 is up to 10-fold more potent than ARB-1467, resulting in 2.5 log10 serum HBsAg reduction at 7 days after a single 0.3 mg/ kg dose in a hydrodynamic injection mouse model of HBV.
976897 tn?1379167602 134/104 As you can see, my systolic is fine, but the diastolic is a nightmare. All the blood pressure meds I take obviously lower both the diastolic and systolic, and they make me light headed by the time the diastolic drops enough. I can't see any meds which affect just diastolic?
Avatar n tn The combination therapy with ARB and beta-blockade may provide more effective and safe protection to slow down and even reduce the aortic root diameter than sole beta-blockade in patients with MFS. .....Isn't the conclusion dual therapy is considered more safe and efective than just BB? Also, the test is associated with MFS and not all triple A is so related. The most common cause of aortic aneurysms is arteriosclerosis. At least 80% of aortic aneurysms are from arteriosclerosis.
Avatar n tn Blood pressure today-108 / 60. I do low impact exercises in the water, tai chi, and walking with in my mobility limits, and eat Heart Healthy. Don't drink or smoke, and limit caffeine tremendously. I will be going through another echogram soon to determine if the dilatation numbers have changed from 6 years ago. I am 53 and managed to NOT take any drugs dues to drug allergies in regards to the Elhers Danlos syndrome Type 3 hypermobility.
Avatar f tn 2. It is ok to take both an ACE and ARB and there have been some trials using both for blood pressure management. We just have to be very careful and watch your kidney function because both medications can affect the kidney funtion so make sure your physician checks your kidney function 1-2 weeks after being on both medications. Hope this helps.
2207301 tn?1340990867 I used the ARB with my second son, but he still spent more time sleeping in our bed with us than in the ARB next to our bed. Babies crave the security, warmth, and physical touch of their parents. My son started crawling out of the ARB by 7 months old to snuggle in between mommy and daddy, lol.
1008841 tn?1293598960 I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...and asked my GP to switch me from diuretic style BP drugs to the ARB class. I did notice benefits in ED function after a few weeks, and also definitely noticed a more positive mood. I am hoping there will also be an impact on my stage II fibrosis after my SVR, and will do a follow up Fibro-Sure test next year to check for any changes.
Avatar m tn For some insight angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and the angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) drugs both affect the renin-angiotensin hormonal system which helps regulate blood pressure. Hope this is the information you are looking for, if not you are welcome to followup with another post. Thanks for the question and take care.
1716758 tn?1309345067 by the way, i believe aortic insufficiency can cause some of those symptoms. this goes back to your aortic enlargement.
Avatar m tn s your ascending aorta, particularly the aortic root, then it may decrease in size with ARB and/or ACEi therapy. Let me know if you're interested and I'll write more; otherwise, I won't waste my breath.
Avatar m tn You should quickly find a cardiologist who is knowledgeable about connective tissue disease and ARB therapy. It is cutting edge and most physicians/cardiologists are unaware of this treatment. You might contact Dr. Hal Dietz at Johns Hopkins for a referral in your area.
1325193 tn?1450127436 I am sure this is a question that gets asked a lot around here, but I wanted to know. I am 37, very young I know, and just got put on propanlol. I know this is a beta blocker, and it has been 1 week since I started it. My doc thought it would help with my anxiety also, and it has. Now I feel like a zombie. I am so tired, not excited about anything... and so on. I am sure you guys have heard it all before. I also feel like I am kinda of getting winded.
