They say my liver can take it, (stage 2 fibrosis). But I am afraid of the NSAIDs in celebrex, any one else taking it? Oh, I am on Methadone too. I am having my first liver biopsy in the morning, so I will find out more about my liver. I am scared to death about it coz I have had so many problems lately.

Do not stop taking Plavix (Clopidogrel) without consulting the doctor who prescribed it! Plavix inhibits platelet bloodclotting function, to prevent (life-threatening) blood clots (in i.e. cardiovascular stents). Often dental work can be done without stopping Plavix. Consult your dentist for that. When you stop taking Plavix, complete recovery of platelet function takes about 7 days after the last dose.

Since that time, I have had problems with chest pain and stomach pain, along with a host of other pains. I had a second cath to look at my heart because of the chest pain and the heart was said to be fine. Having a hard time sleeping at night and anxiety is building because of the pain. Anyone else have these issues? Also, is there a blood test that can be given to see if the Plavix even works for my gene make-up?

t done up front, or at least a test to check response - it was just by happpenstance I looked at the genetic test I had done for different reasons two years ago and it had a drug response section. if not for this I would still be on plavix with a much higher chance of problems.

My cardiologist would not let my dentist allow me to stop taking Plavix for even 5 days to alleviate my pain due to a cavity .The dentist is bent upon my discontinuing Plavix to enable filling of the cavity or do root canal to solve the problem.

Hello, Previously before starting Celebrex medication I had slightly high blood pressure I am taking blood pressure medication, after starting Celebrex my blood pressure soared to 170/80 and the highest being 183. My doctor sent me to a cardiac specialist and it was found that I had a faulty heart valve, I had an Angiogram and was found to have slightly enlarged heart muscle. Could this have been due to the Celebrex, I have stopped taking it and my blood pressure has returned to 115/60. Cazz.

I had two coated stents inserted March 22, 2010 and have been taking plavix, 81 mg aspirin and continue taking coumadin (5mg 6 days and 6 mgs 1 day a week). I am a hepper with cirrhosis, I have a healthy heart and well controlled hypertension. Yes, the bruizes are from the Plavix. It is annoying and sometimes a bit painful, BUT do not stop taking the Plavix before your cardiologist tells you so. The effect of Plavix is that your blood does not clot (this causes the easy bruizing) and that is necessary to keep the stents open. If you stop taking the Plavix too early, the stents may become clogged which means a second heart attack.

That said, I had to have emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction while taking Plavix. It was noted in the operative report I had some bleeding during the surgery, but they were prepared for it. Also, they will undoubtedly check your clotting ability prior to any surgery. Keep us informed.

I am still bothered by the heart spasms, but those started years after I stopped taking the Plavix. I do exercise, take many herbs and natural minerals and stuff to help with my heart. Walking is the best medicine I think. Take care and thanks for the notes.
