Avatar f tn Psoriasis is a long-term (chronic) skin problem that causes skin cells to grow too quickly, resulting in thick, white, silvery, or red patches of skin. It is thought that psoriasis occurs when the immune system overreacts, causing inflammation and flaking of skin. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn Oral antifungal drugs and immunomodulators such as tacrolimus and pimecrolimus are used in very severe cases. The other possibilities are of eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis. Best would be to consult a dermatologist and get biopsy skin done to confirm the diagnosis. Avatar m tn Well...thanks for the great photo. Sheesh. May be a fungal infection of some kind. You're gonna have to go see the doc. You could always try an antifungal cream of some kind but why mess with it. Schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. They should pretty much know. It doesn't appear to be an STD but I certainly am not an expert.
Avatar f tn Although steroids, are commonly used for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, there are certain other agents also which are used like immune modulator drugs e.g. tacrolimus. These are available in the form of ointments and tend to prevent the recurrence. You can discuss with your dermatologist regarding the right use. There are certain other non-pharmacological measures which are equally important in treating atopic dermatitis.
Avatar n tn Almost looks a LITTLE more faint than usual today...
Avatar m tn Since I was on tacrolimus only(as Mycophenolate causes TLC to go down in two occasion), sirolimus 1mg is started along with reduced tacrolimus(2mg BD, Tac level ~4.5). But the creatinine is still high(1.8). It seems some side effect of Sirolimus is also coming as the TLC is 3400 and platelet is 80,000. What do you suggest to bring creatinine under control? What is the way to determine the exact required dose of tacrolimus?

Avatar m tn Hello. I have a lip disorder called exfoliative cheilitis or factitious cheilitis. I got it by excessively licking, biting, and picking at my lips, which results in the top layer of skin being removed permanently. Unfortunately, when you leave your lips alone, they don't heal normally. Rather, they form scales or crusts that grow and they shed every few days, similar to psoriasis. Although there is no official cure for this condition, I am tying to heal myself right now.
Avatar m tn Both eyes had a schirmer test of 0. (interestingly though, a few days before at the vet, the schirmer test was 12 in both eyes). Now 6 weeks later, the right eye has a 6 and the left eye still has 0. The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus.
Avatar f tn She has such severe dry deep cracked feet, that they swell to a degree she is often in a wheel chair for extended periods of time. The pain is unbearable for her. SHe has seen several dermatologists and an immunologist. Has been tested for Lupus and other auto immune disorders all were negative. The dr's give her creams that don't help for more than a few days then they flair up again worse than time before. Last night her feet swelled to more than twice the normal size.
Avatar m tn His cretanine is almost 1.4 or around. My question is that should he continue his TACROLIMUS tablets or should switch to some other tablets which are safe for kidneys? Secondly , in my sorrounding there is an opinion that lowering the TACROLIMUS dose also let the liver enzymes to increase? Do you favour such opinions as my father has lowered his tacrolimus dose to keep his kidneys safe? Sir ,will wait for your kind reply. Thanks.
Avatar n tn there are prograf assistance programs that the company offers. If this is not feasible than using other cheaper medications such as verapamil for example for HTN for example will alllow much lower doses of prograf to be used (it delays metabolism of the medication) and thus it comes out cheaper.
Avatar f tn AS I HAVE SUFFERED BREATHLESSNESS AND WALKING PROBLEMS,I HAVE BEEN TAKEN OFF TACROLIMUS AND PUT ON NEORAL-YET THERE IS NO IMPROVEMENT IN MY CONDITION.IS THERE ANY OTHER ANTI REJECTION DRUG THAT YOU WOULD RECOMMEND (I HAVE HAD A LIVER TRANSPLANT RECENTLY)? IN YOUR EXPERIENCE,CAN MY SITUATION BE IMPROVED?THANKS.
Avatar n tn My husband got relief from the psoriasis in his ears by sticking to a gluten free diet. A certain percentage of psoriasis patients can blame gluten for their problems, but not all. Look the diet up online and give it a try and see if it helps. Give it a few weeks to months to see if it gets rid of the problem.
Avatar m tn and the Creatinine level at that was 1.5 - 1.6. The doctor reduced the tacrolimus dose to .5 mg morning and evening and since then the Creatinine level is slowly increasing. It is now between varying between 2.1 and 2.4. The TAC level is also low and reduced from 4.5 to 3.4 to 2.4 when last checked 2 months ago. Had a biopsy 2 months back and the report was OK. Pl suggest.
Avatar n tn I have not had much luck with my skin starting since I was about 19, when I was diagnosed with psoriasis. No doubt I have that but now they say I have either Eczema or a Fungus. My dermatologist at the TTU medical center say Eczema and the Allergist I went to says it's a fungus. Here are some of the symptoms to my problems. First of all it can either be a clutter of little bumps or just one little bump but no matter what they itch like crazy.
Avatar m tn currently there is no data on its use in the post-liver transplant setting. i would be extremely cautious about using it until more data is available especially since its purported effects on tacrolimus and cyclosporine metabolism are extreme. i am quite confident that there will be clinical trials coming down the road extremely soon.
1738109 tn?1331412572 Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes you to itch and have dandruff. I have spalp psoriasis so its only in my hair and sones times my eyebrows. It can be aggravated by stress. Another kind is called plaque psoriasis. This is red flaky patches all over the body. I have a friend with that one. She's miserable when she gets an outbreak. 1395422 tn?1308016251 Since I've become pregnant I have noticed these small shallow holes in my nails. Not in all of them, but in most. My nails resemble golf balls if they hit the light just right. I know this sounds odd. lol. But I can't find anything online about this. They are not white spots, ridges, none of that. Like I said, the texture resembles that of a golf ball. I have been taking my vitamins every day and I eat well. Has anyone else had this while they were pregnant. It's the weirdest thing.
