Common Questions and Answers about Systolic side effects

bystolic

Avatar m tn However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks. I have also been affected by regular bouts of diarrhea. Are these side effects to be concerned about given the somewhat more beneficial effects and if so what could I do about them? Appreciate your comments and those of anyone else affected.
Avatar n tn I was treated with sotalol but had breakthroughs. Switched to flecainide which worked but with side effects. I recently stopped the flecainide and have had no significant a-fib that I can discern, although some skipped beats. I do continue to take bystolic and azor for high blood pressure. However, since discontinuing the flecanide, I have had what I would describe as a pounding heartbeat (not rapid), dizziness, and consistent blood pressure readings of 140s/50s.
Avatar m tn Studies have shown that the incidence of side effects (including side effects related to low blood pressure, such as dizziness and fainting) are no higher in users of sildenafil who are also taking antihypertensive drugs This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/868100'>Can Viagra cause Heart Attack</a>.
Avatar n tn time to see the doctor my friend before something happens....there are alot of meds the doc can put you on with no side effects at all to get your b/p down from that number and personally i wouldn;'t wait...
Avatar f tn He got a stomach flu the following week, his BP went way up again (170/100) and he went to the doctor. the doctor gave him bystolic to try.. to see if the side effects would be any more manageable for him. he has been on it for 3 days now and his BP has changed from 170/100 to 155/110 to 150/117 today... so the top # is going down, but the bottom # is going up... and I'm worried.
Avatar n tn ve been taking Lisinopril for going on 8 years with no apparent side effects and my blood pressure is very good. Both subject medications is recommended for heart failure patients ACE raises blood pressure by constricting blood vessels. ACE inhibitors like enalapril prevent this effect. Enalapril has been shown to lower the death rate in systolic heart failure as does Lisinopril.
Avatar m tn Fluctuations of BP on a higher side are mainly due to hormonal imbalance, kidney or heart problems. BP can also go to higher side after a physical activity like climbing stairs, running etc and this comes back to normal after rest. It can also be to due to anxiety and stress. Hence careful tests like kidney function test, stress test or treadmill test, ECHO, EKG, BP monitoring, and complete hormonal profile needs to be done.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist subbed 5 mg Nebivolol for the Amlodipine due to what he described as exercise-related hypertension. I took this medication for a week and experienced a range of unpleasant side effects, including exhaustion, significant depression and reduced heart rate (mid-60s, compared with my normal mid-80s). I've been off the Nebivolol for five days, but I'm still experiencing these side effects. My heart rate has only come back to about 67-68.
Avatar m tn There is a study that 110 or lower for systolic pressure and 60 or lower for diastolic pressure may increase the risk. There are other doctors who want the blood pressure as low as possible without side effects such as fainting, dizziness, etc. If you don't have any side effects with your low HP and your doctor approves your low reading may not be a problem...your high reading shouldn't be a problem.
Avatar m tn Are you able to check your blood pressure at home? One of the potential side effects of the med you're taking is sudden drop in blood pressure, and that correlates with the symptoms you describe.
Avatar m tn No specific symptoms. Please advise whether can stop meteprolol to avoid side effects. Is systolic murmur common as indicated by my surgeon?
Avatar m tn My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
Avatar f tn Left-side pumping chamber (ventricle) is enlarged, and coronary reversible perfusion defect (no significance). Myocardial perfusion abnormalities occur commonly among patients with HCM, hypercardiomyopathy (dilated LV) HCM. Fixed or only partially reversible defects suggestive of myocardial scar and/or severe ischemia occur primarily in patients with impaired systolic performance.
Avatar n tn Predominantly bleeding related, ie bruising, internal bleeding, nosebleeds etc. Hemorrhagic stroke in some patients, particuarly those with extreme high blood pressure (over 200 systolic). Its therefore recommeneded that you acquire a home solution and check your blood pressure at regular intervals (once or twice per day).
Avatar n tn I prefer hydrochlorothiazide as a first line agent, as it has the least amount of side effects, but this may not be enough in your case. I would also take a baby aspirin daily given your family history. Given your lack of symptoms I don't think you need a stress test, but your cardiologist may disagree.
Avatar n tn My Dr. put me on lowest dose of Losartan and I got joint pain in my thumbs and then in a knee so I weaned myself off but my BP was very high (systolic) during visit. He puts me on Irbesartan, SAME class of drug, then goes on VACATION. It's the smallest dose and I took a corner of a pill yesterday, no pill today, BP is fine, I'm in PAIN. My thumbs hurt, my right foot and left knee, I don't feel well and then I read that all of this are side effects of this drug.
Avatar m tn Your medication is a Angiotensin II Antagonist which blocks the enzyme that causes arteries to become stiff and unable to absorb the pressure of each heart beat. These are usually well tolerated and have few side effects and I have never heard of long term effects, but you should always follow your doctor's advice. You can ask him about another class of BP meds including beta blockers as they are also very effective, they do tend to cause more side effects though.
Avatar n tn Digoxin should generally be avoided in patients with preserved left ventricular systolic function, although it has been used for ventricular rate control in the subgroup of patients with chronic atrial fibrillation. Cardiovascular side effects have been reported the most frequently.
Avatar f tn //gerd.emedtv.com/zantac/zantac-side-effects.html - and noticed that some of your symptoms are listed as side effects of Zantac. As far as your blood work I would make sure an endocrine screen was done. Low cortisol is an indication of adrenal insufficiency - cortisol is an important hormone that controls metabolism. Just a thought.
Avatar m tn DD is a failure of the filling phase and almost always due to increased dimensions of the chamber and that restricts the capacity (volume of blood) that will decrease preload of the left ventricle if the DD is the right side of the heart and cause heart failure. If the DD is the left side, the reduced filling will decrease cardiac output. Also chamber filling can be compromised due to stiffness of heart walls. STAGE 1 is impaired relaxation. Stage 2 E/A less than 0.
Avatar m tn Please advise whether can stop meteprolol to avoid side effects. Is systolic murmur common as indicated by my surgeon? Any measures?
Avatar m tn How can you tell if a busted blood vessel in the eye is caused from hypertension? I currently have one and my bp has been running on the high side systolic 150's systolic normal 70's and I woke up with a busted blood vessel.
