Sumatriptan and naproxen

Common Questions and Answers about Sumatriptan and naproxen

imitrex

Avatar f tn I am having trouble determining whether my migraine medication, Imitrex, is one them. Sumitriptan and naproxen are not on the list, but since this drug narrows blood vessels, I wonder if it's best not to take it before surgery.
1102283 tn?1257817472 But, for cost reasons, fill the generic Sumatriptan tablet prescription first! (as long as the doctor at the clinic agrees) And, try to get samples of what ever triptans the clinic has to hand out if possible, regardless of the brand.. all triptans have been proven effective in clinical trials, so they are all worth trying as long as your doctor agrees, especially if it is a free sample.
Avatar f tn make sure that he is doing this. But, if he already is... then, maybe you can ask your doctor about trying a sumatriptan pen. OH! And before trying something as severe as that.. you could try what I do that works for me!! Triptans never used to work for me either!! Until I started to take naproxen (a prescription NSAID that does NOT cause rebound headaches) with my triptan... the triptan on its own does not work 100% and the naproxen on it's own barely works...
Avatar n tn I have been having really sharp shooting pain on the right side of my head that starts at the front and shoots to the top of my head. they come so quick and sharp until they almost always make me shout out and sometimes a quick dizziness. they last about 3 hrs. then stop and start up again. I sometimes get a throbing pain in my ears but that don't last long either. has anyone ever experinced anything as this and if so what did you do to stop the pain. I will see my Dr.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with anxiety (again), and told that all my symptoms were a manifestation of said anxiety. I was prescribed Sumatriptan, propanolol, and naproxen. The medication was working, but it didn't last long. My symptoms have worsened, to the point where i cannot go up the stairs without having to stop due to shortness of breath, pain in my heart, and weakness in my legs. I almost always feel a tightness in my chest, and any pressure on my chest causes pain.
Avatar n tn Treximet is the only triptan on the market that combines naproxen and a triptan together in one drug... BUT, you and your doctor can easily do this yourself by combining 2 prescriptions together, you don't NEED to take treximet to do this!! You can take zomig + naproxen (it's a nasal spray triptan + the tablet naproxen) OR maxalt + naproxen (a quick dissolve tablet triptan + the tablet naproxen) OR injectable sumatriptan + naproxen (it's an injectable triptan + the tablet naproxen).
768044 tn?1294223436 Thanks for telling me about this group. I have these headaches everyday and can use all the help I can get. It looks like I'll have to stop using Naproxen all together. It's not really super effective on these headaches anyway. I just had an endoscopy and the GI said that he found a couple of areas of concern and took a couple of gastric biopsies. It's too soon to know what the results will be, since I was told it could take at least a week and a half to get the results back.
Avatar n tn The same Dr gave me Naproxen and hydracodone but i cannot take the hydracodone as it upsets my stomach and basically does not allow me to function. The front and back of my head hurt as do my neck and jaw. My vision is fuzzy at times and it is difficult to do my job which requires much detail and work on a computer. Also had a moment where I would look at a particular document and know that I was upposed to do something with it but for a few seconds did not not know what to do.

Avatar f tn 2 times in a day, only twice in a week). My mom has her own medical problems, which include migraines, so I'm switching to her neuro. I've been waiting about 6 months for my appointment, which is finally coming up in March. This guy is very popular, so getting your first appointment is a long wait. I used to feel like my migraines were controllable; they didn't own me, I owned them kind of thing...
Avatar f tn t give me anything that was dangerous but I researched it and some websites say not to take it during pregnancy ?
Avatar m tn on day 10....today my doctor prescribed me Naproxen for my chronic back pain. I know I could search this, but would rather ask anyone with any experience with it's use. Good idea or not to use after 10 days clean. I dont even know if it's a "mild" narcotic or not, however I believe it's similar to Aleeve. Advice? thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn 00 PM, then in the afternoon the next day, I'd still have the equivalent of 1 unit of Naproxen in my system due to half-life metabolization. This would mean that if I drank alcohol that afternoon, it is the same as if I had just taken 1 naproxen on top of whatever I'm drinking. Yes? I would think so because the liver still has that unit to metabolize on top of the alcohol you are now consuming.
Avatar f tn Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me trazodone hydrochloride for anxiety, sumatriptan succinate for migraines, zopiclone for sleep, I've been told I can take the trazodone with zopiclone, but I have the new sumatriptan tablets, it says in the medical pamphlet that it is an MAO-A inhibitor and can't be taken with antidepressants/anxiety tablets. Would it be ok to take both the trazodone hydrochloride and the sumatriptin succinate together?
Avatar n tn Oh. And one last thing. Yes... avoiding the preventative prescription medications AT THIS POINT does seem to be the best course of action for you since you are PLANNING to have a baby soon. The topamax that I am on can cause serious birth defects... there is a vitamin you can take daily, which I do take, in case of "accidents"... but, when one is family planning, if you can AVOID being on topamax, I think you are making a good choice...
Avatar m tn My pulse is exceptionally weak and my blood pressure is 156/90 after taking one (1) 500mg Naproxen and an amphetamine. I went and got my blood pressure checked, as well as my resting heart rate. The nurse never actually tried to feel my pulse, though. So I came home and I am very worried about how weak my pulse is. Has anybody heard weather or not taking Naproxen with an amphetamine can be harmful because it is not in the drug facts and I cannot find anything about it online either.
Avatar n tn have you tryed sumatriptan for the pain? i have the same thing your describing, but i do have periods of remmission.. maybe only a few hours at the most. for the most part i take sumatriptan for the pain. i have no idea why it works but it works for me. if you've been on it than maybe it doesnt work, but if you havent been on it, ask your doc about it. hope any of this helps!
Avatar f tn There are some types of migraine that present with numbness also and even with the absence of headache and presence of just aura symptoms like sensitivity to light and sound, nausea or vomiting. Was the sumatriptan effective in reducing the pain? Check with your doctor if it does not improve for proper evaluation. Take care always.
Avatar n tn Naproxen is similar to Motrin or Nuprin or any of the other anti-inflammatory agents that are used to relieve menstrual pain, and it is very safe and works very well. It is my number one choice to prescribe for dysmenorrhea. If you are at the point in life that you are "trying" you could still use it during your periods-- just not during ovulation. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Apo-Indomethacin and Pms-Sumatriptan was prescribed to me by my doctor. I am also on progesterin to help reduce the amount of headaches, I have been using nasal sprays as well. Month six, no change. Blood tests shows no diabetes, Thyroid, liver or kidney problems. I have been sleeping about 13-14 hours a day. I have a swollen gland on the left side of the back of my neck and has been swollen for about five years, I don't know if it is related.
Avatar n tn Pain Level 4-7 Headache with pain centralized in the front upper right of temple, spreading over and around forehead to left temple but pain less intense in these areas, 3-5 Visual Disturbance, difficult to describe but includes difficulty “zoning in” on objects, makes it difficult to read and hard to focus on the “big picture”, school nearly impossible As for treatment, so far I have tried Ibuprofen - No effect Naproxen Sodium - No effect Excedrin - No effect Toradol Shot - No effect Sumatri
