To update. I'm on .5 mg. Originally, I attempted to jump off two years back. I withdrawals for thirty days, got back on at 8 mg. About a month later my hair turned REALLY frizzy, the same friz it is now and began falling out evenly across my head. Even on the sides. Eyebrow hair was falling out too. I've since cut to .5 mg over the last two years. Much of this thread got misconstrued about personal experience and struggles. I'm not hear to share struggles.

I'm a 20 year old male. My hair started thinning about 4 months ago, and I see a noticeable receding of my hair-line, and only within the last month has it become so rapid that I now have only 50% of my hair on my scalp left. I've noticed my eyebrows, arm hair, and leg hair started falling out about a week ago. I can pull on my eyebrows and every time I do I get about 1-4 hairs. I had blood work done and tested normal for my thyroid.
ve been on Suboxone for about 10 months. My hair use to be long, straight, and course. My hair is not only falling out but you can hold a hair up to the light and see the thickness change in each hair. With an educated guess concerning how long it takes my hair to grow, the timing is just about right from when I first started the Suboxone. I couldn't believe how dramatic the hair goes from thick and course to these little puny hairs that continue to fall out.

I drink bottles of water all day, a habit I acquired while in AZ and yet have constipation, and even experience a little hair loss - enough that it alarms me in the shower. I take a very small dose of Paxil- 10mg- since the 911 tragedy, and I take suboxone- which started in AZ after my hysto to get off all the pain meds. I have remained on it as it seems to stabilize my moods and my Dr. has been ok with that. It beats taking any other meds.

I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great
I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it,

That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism )

The itching started small after a few weeks on Sub But now I scratch everywhere there is hair and just below my knees , my back arms, and high on my butt. Don't know for sure if the drug is the cause or maybe it would have happened anyway as these skin problems can attack anyone. I itch until the skin breaks and stings. Scabs form. My prescribing Psychiatrist changed me over to Subutex to see if it may be the naloxone and his second guess is Psoriasis.
I have seen a local Derm who said there was no scarring on my scalp and no real skin issues associated with my hair loss. In 2004 I took a course of Roaccutane for acne and noticed some thinning after the course finished. I was told that this was a known side effect, but that the hair would grow back. It has been over four years!!! My hair is uniformly thinned out across the entire scalp.
m natural with no chemicals in my hair and I have never had a problem with hair loss. I went from thick long hair to thin short hair. This is so sad. I'm not sure what to do because my skin has really cleared up from Doryx but if I continue to take it I will be bald with pretty skin! Not a great combination! Thanks for reviews!

Most people normally shed 50 to 100 hairs a day and this amount of hair loss should not cause noticeable thinning of the scalp hair. Hair thinning and loss could be due to increased rate of shedding compared to the rate of regrowth. This could be due to: hormonal changes, poor nutrition, diseases, certain medications, infections and stress.
