212161 tn?1599427282 Hi, we'll I had my stress test done, just the exercise one with no dye or pictures, I ran it about 7 mins got my heart to 104 percent, could of keep going if I needed to, had no chest pains, or sob. They said you passed sent me on my way. Good news My question is , without pics how much can they tell about the heart, if I had a blockage would it had shown up? Should I feel good about my heart? Thank you so much for all your time.
512736 tn?1211343352 The thallium collects in the parts of the heart that have good blood flow. Pictures of the heart are taken with a special camera that can image the radioactivity of the thallium. From these pictures, portions of the heart that are not receiving good blood flow (because of blockage in the coronary arteries) can be identified. The thallium study greatly increases the accuracy of the exercise study in diagnosing coronary artery disease.
Avatar n tn I've had this test twice. They inject you with a radioactive tracer that lets them image your heart and take pictures using a special camera before and after the stress test. The "stress" part of it lasts only a few minutes. It's painless, if somewhat time-consuming.
212161 tn?1599427282 Sounds like you passed the test with no problems. As long as they got to get a reading of your heart while working hard, then that's fine. You reached the target rate and had no discomfort which is also great. Sounds like your 'ticker' is doing well. At least when you stood still they remembered to turn off the machine. I was halfway through my test and got chest pains, so I screamed "shut it off".
Avatar f tn I recently had a stress test and was told that the results were not clear. My cardiologist suggests a 64 slice coronary ct to rule out blockages. I had no pain or symptoms while on the treadmill. He said that it may be purely anatomical as women's breast tissue can complicate the reading of the pictures. Coincidentally, my left breast was radiated for 8 weeks due to intraductal carcinoma 19 years ago. Could this effect the pictures?
Avatar n tn I took a home pregnancy test today which was positive, i had a chemical stress test two weeks ago. Should I be worried will the chemicals effect the baby?
212161 tn?1599427282 did you walk the treadmill or get the shot to stress your heart and if you got the shot how did it make you feel.
212161 tn?1599427282 am so stressed about a nuclear/stress test friday i have thrown myself into anxiety over it . not sure why i have to come off my timilol pills for my pac thursday been on them for 15 years or more that scares me.
Avatar n tn I have been scheduled for a treadmill stress test but I am nervous to do it. To even think of it gives me fast heartbeat. I feel well except for high blood pressure (controlled) but each time I get excited or nervous, my heartbeat goes fast, more than 100. When I am in the doctor's office or when I see the doctor's gadgets, my heartbeat goes really fast. But when I am just home and relaxed, my heartbeat is from 65 to 80. Should I undergo this treadmill test?
Avatar n tn A nuclear stress test lets doctors see pictures of your heart while you are resting and shortly after you have exercised. The test can give information about the size of the heart's chambers, how well the heart is pumping blood, and whether the heart has any damaged or dead muscle. Nuclear stress tests can also give doctors information about your arteries and whether they might be narrowed or blocked because of coronary artery disease.
212161 tn?1599427282 i know they take pictures of the heart under stress and not , but have heard that the test is not always right . can you still have a blockage and it not show up?
Avatar f tn So it was a perfusion test? And what were the results??
Avatar f tn A Thallium Stress test looks at the blood flow to your heart muscle at rest and during stress. During a stress test, a radioactive material called Thallium is injected into a vein. A gamma camera takes pictures of the Thallium in your heart. the EKG and Echo were at rest and they are Fine ! now A Thallium Stress test just to see how your heart Managing the blood during stress.
1491262 tn?1288413065 The test appropriate for evaluation of pumping ability would be to analyze the degree of heart wall movement impairment from thd prior heart attack. Apparently, the stress stress was a perfusion test to view the blood flow at rest and during exercise. With exercise there is a higher demand for blood/oxygen and the test results would help determine the degree of blockage, etc.
Avatar f tn Given the family background and an abnormal stress test, a heart cath would serve to give you and the doctor a good view of your cardiac arteries and also serve as a reference point if further work needs to be done. I suggest you put away your fears by doing some research, you will find the procedure is very safe, and proceed with confidence. Believe me, plaque buildup is serious stuff, and the procedure is very safe.
Avatar n tn The chest or thoracic CAT scan can give clear pictures of the heart and lungs. Damage to, or disease in, the heart, which could be a sign of many different cardiac problems. The CAT scan may also reveal signs of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The ct angiogram provides a calcium score of the 4 main arteries individually and a total score.
Avatar m tn This test helps to determine which parts of the heart are healthy and function normally and which are not. A small amount of radioactive substance is injected into the patient. Then the doctor uses a special camera to identify the rays emitted from the substance within the body; this produces clear pictures of the heart tissue on a monitor. These pictures are done both at rest and after exercise.
Avatar n tn I can produce a numbert of different opinions what is the appropriate heart rate and so on with exercising. The best method for someone with a heart issue is to have a stress test. A stress test is oftened done for the purpose of learning the degree of tolerance/risk one can safely do. The rule of thumb stated is not recommended for someone who has heart issues. You will be safe to engage in exercising according to METs.
Avatar f tn Had a stress test there is a large sized anterior walldefect extending to the apex and septal wall. There is a samll sized distal anteroapical defecdt extending to the septal wall. Small sized fixed distal anteroapical defect textending to the septal wall consistent wiht myocardial scar. What does all this mean. I an 70 year old female with family heart history.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your time. I appreciate the reply. I was attached to a 12-Lead EKG during 10+ minutes of treadmill stress with my heart rate @ 175 bpm or so, and they said EKG was perfect. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "stress EKG", but seems close. All tests show a healthy heart, just the "99.9% chance of test anomaly" since "stress pictures show perfect, resting pictures had one anomalous picture".
Avatar f tn I am scheduled for a nuclear stress test on july 30, and an echo. I have had an echo but was wondering what the stress test was?? Anyone with info please help??????
1688079 tn?1305854113   ECG showed 1st degreeAV block and I was given a nuclear stress test with pictures.  Shortly after the stresstest the Hospitalist said the stress test was abnormal and it showed reversable ischemia.  Then he went and reviewed the stress with the cardioligist who said it was normal. The Hospitalist put me on metoprolol 25mg every 12hrs and pravastatin 10mg once a day. Put me on a cardio diet.  What does all this mean and why am I on a beta blocker??
