I have an acer Aspire one and I use the Avast antivirus. My husband does computer security and this is what he uses on this computer. He also is a big fan of Norton.

A fourth test in a deli pay computer also blocked the survey. This suggests that many people are not going to be able to answer the survey, who would desire to do so, and the outcome will be biased. This should suggest that a new survey be devised without the .exe file.

Go to www.malwarebytes.com . Get their free software and do a quick scan. It's good stuff.

As far as your computer virus is concerned, I would uninstall your Norton antivirus and istall AVG vruis protection software whicg is free. It is mucg better ant virus software than Norton. If you don't diasable the Norton you could have problems. Stay strong and llok ahead to even better days. Let me knwo if I can help you in any way in your recovery efforts.

AVG in my experience slows the computer down by using up resources. At least the free version did... AVAST has been the best so far for me for the last 8 years. I did notice that they have a software for it in which I can download and monitor her levels, etc. I also have noticed that there is a diabetes pilot software in which I can get for my desktop and pda. I like the fact that the diabetes pilot has a list of foods (carbs, etc.) that you can enter for reference and can be used on my pda.

I picked up a disc with some CT scans and ultrasound images today, and noticed that the autorun software included was called "eFilm Lite", by Merge Software, (IIRC). . It was the same program, though a slightly different version, that was on the disc I received from the MRI center about 3 weeks ago (Version 2.0.0 vs. 2.1.1). That one wouldn't run on either of my home computers; I've yet to try the one I received today.

mellie, you aren't alone. I've had my Toshiba Satellite for 5 years and it's time for a new one. One of my dogs trashed the keyboard a couple years ago - kept slapping it trying to get my attention - so I've used an add-on keyboard ever since. I have so much research data on it that I have to clear the internet cache and defrag daily or it takes 5 minutes to load a new web page.

Without the software there is no image at all, just a computer full of numerical data. The software is what turns magnetic signals into a picture. I remember in the 1970's when the CT was being developed by EMI ((the same EMI, (Electronic Music, Inc) of the Beatles)). They told us that the computer needed to analyze 27,000 simultaneous equations per second in order to make the (essentially) 3D images. That was mind-boggling at the time.
