m kind of freaking out! i thought the sores might just be canker sores and that i might also just have strep, but now that i'm getting more sores, i'm not so sure. also, if this is a primary outbreak, how long should i expect it to last? i am seeing my boyfriend again in a week and want to know whether i shouldn't kiss him, etc. it started on monday, btw.
please let me know!! freaking!

The first couple of days, I did not have a sore throat. The third day, I developed a sore throat as well as multiple canker sores on my gums and way back near my wisdom teeth. My gums in certain areas are tender and feel blistered and the roof of my mouth has the same feeling as if I burnt it on something hot. I have been using "Kanka" to numb my mouth because it is almost impossible for me to eat, but other than that, I don't know what to do or why this has happened.
I had absolutely no cold sores on my mouth nor in my mouth (although its a little harder to see inside the mouth, but im fairly certain nothing was in there, most of them would be on the actual lips?)...so my question really is, grace, could an initial/primary infection with a sore throat, swollen glands and no blisters be common in herpes? or do blisters always have to be present?

I just wanted to give you an update on my wife and boys. My son's sores on his mouth went away and he was diagnosed with strep by his pediatrician a couple days ago via rapid strep test. He's on Amox now and feeling much better. My wife on the other hand now has a low fever (100), a severe sore throat that she says feels like she's swallowing pins and needles, and generally feels terrible.
Hi, over my thanksgiving break, Nov. 25-30th, I came down with something but am not sure what it was. On tuesday the 25th I started to feel run down during the day but didn't have a temp, I had a little nasal congestion but that was about it. Today I received the results from both the strep test and the HSV swab test on the red mouth sores. The full strep culture came back positive for a group B strep (I dont know the differences between groups, but I have strep), and the HSV swab came back negative, as you expected.

Recently, about 4 days a go, after some kissing a woman performed oral sex on me, and now I am worried about a Herpes Infection.
I did not notice any noticeable blisters or lesions on her mouth, but obviously I couldn't see inside her mouth. I have myself tested occasionally because I'm active and I recently came up negative for everything.

well, if they're open sores you may have herpes. i don't mean to scare you. they can look like open red lesion or they can be white over the top. if they become intensely painful or spread, do yourself a favor and get checked.

okay, so Oct 9th i had unprotected oral and vaginal sex with this guy. Hello grace. I went to doc about sores and redness in throat and he swabbed for strep and it came back negative. I asked him if it couldbe my first hsv1 peal outbreak. And he said since i have had them for two to three weeks it would have been gone by now if it was an outbreak. He believes that even with the seven days of azithromycin it wasnt enough to fully take my virus away and i still have the issues with the throat.
I was recently diagnoised with a strain of strep throat, and am on penicillen to heal the infection. However, I am not sure if my swelling tongue that has sores on it is from the strep or if it is herpes. I did not get the flu-like symptoms from it, only a sore throat which is the strep. Nor do I have blisters on my mouth at all. So I'm just confused on what it might be. I'm paranoid and don't see my gyno for another month. Can anyone help?
When you say your cheek (do you mean outside on your face or inside your mouth?) and gums, that sounds like mouth sores associated with SHINGLES a different type of herpes virus ( I think). SHINGLES usually show up on other body parts like the abdomen, chest and back, however they can be on your face and in your mouth. These are extremely painful, can be large and widespread and usually take along time to clear up.

First, oral sex is safe sex. Not totally free of STD risk, but much safer than vaginal or anal sex. Second, your fatigue the next day cannot be due to any STD from that exposure. No STD can cause symptoms in less than 2-3 days.
That said, your throat symptoms conceivably could be due to herpes. Most likely not -- it is more likely that you happened to catch a garden variety upper respiratory infection at about the same time.
At the same time I had a group strep B vaginal infection so I believe without the group B strep the HSV-1 outbreak would have been even smaller.
Here are my questions:
1) What is the likelihood of transmission of HSV-1 genital herpes from female to male, assuming I am on Valtrax suppressive therapy and don't have sex during future outbreaks (hopefully I won't have any) ?
2) Would the percentage in question #1 change if condoms are used and by how much?
Also I've been having sores reoccurring sores in my mouth and I had this thought that people were injecting hiv into my arm purposely to infect me while I slept because I woke up with poke marks on my arm and now I'm freaking out if I'm going to die quickly from hiv without knowing
Throat always looks raw/red. Sometimes I think I see sores, especially behind the flaps of my mouth where my throat and oral regions meet. (no lymph nodes anymore--behind these flaps that I don't remember the name for).
So now, it's been almost 8 months of off and on pain. No fever. Maybe had a very mild fever initially. Don't remember. Don't think I did. I'm racking my brain trying to figure this out. I've even considered herpes.
Unless you had visible sores in your mouth, they wouldn't swab the inside of it.
Statistically, you probably have oral hsv1 and have probably had it for a long time.
Did your partner perform oral sex on you? If they didn't, you can't have ghsv1. If you had hsv1 before, and we can't really know that, you can't get genital hsv1 after having oral hsv1.
If you get any genital sores, get a PCR swab done on it.
About 3-4 weeks ago dentist pulled a jaw tooth it got a dry socket then infection also had teeth cleaned , and new fillings on 2 teeth , for the last week my whole mouth is very sore to the point of pain have sores all inside mouth raw feeling and some blisters in mornings mouth is swollen and I have very excessive saliva , mouth so painful can hardly eat -drink
If the spots were small and splotchy streaks and mixed with red streaks it could be a strep infection. As for the thrush--Sometimes when a person takes too many antibiotics (if the child has been on any) they can kill off the good bacteria in the mouth as well as the bad, thus causing the thrush infection to grow. The more antibiotics you take for thrush, the worse it gets. Antifungal medication such as nystatin is usually a good medication to take.
