Strattera vs provigil

Common Questions and Answers about Strattera vs provigil

strattera

Avatar m tn ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.
1842804 tn?1319756311 Tried Provigil, tried Ritalin, ended up on Strattera and it's been a perfect godsend for me! (I did not have trouble with Provigil and Ritalin--they helped a lot, although Provigil had an uncomfortable late-afternoon "letdown" effect for me), but after a year or two they did not work so well.
Avatar m tn Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
405614 tn?1329144114 They told me that they required me to take a total of 3 ADD medications, one of which absolutely had to be Strattera, before they would approve of Provigil. I called my doctor to tell him this and he said he would give me the script for Strattera as I already had Adderall, Ritalin, and Concerta, which all qualified for the 2 ADD medications insurance required I take in addition to Strattera.
405614 tn?1329144114 The side effects look a lot worse than those listed for Provigil. I wonder how long the patent on Provigil lasts, and when there will be a generic form? Does anyone else have trouble getting medications that they need or that are really helpful in improving your quality of life? Ess and I discussed on another thread how both our insurances only allow you to get half a month's worth of Ambien. Are we only supposed to sleep every other day?
704043 tn?1298056844 i have tried provigil 2 much money- and samples of nuvigil - provigil 4 me worked the best- but now financialy need 2 ask about one of these others? which one or r they the same?? 429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
Avatar f tn So, what you are saying is that the most effective way to treat ADHD would be to use medicines like Strattera, Ritalin etc.... and how safe are these drugs?
Avatar m tn only took it 5 days now I am discontinue it. My doc mentioned trying concerta or strattera. Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?
Avatar f tn My neuro suggested maybe trying Ritalin.....he says Provigil is the best, but it is kind of pricey even w/ my insurance.......So is Provigil worth it? ....Has anyone tried Ritalin? Has anyone had any weird s/e w/ either med??? I would be very grateful for any input....
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar f tn My son developed Raynard's Phenomen after taking Strattera. Weaning him down on the dosage reduced the symptoms. His hands otherwise where blue, white, and cold through out the day. He had a reaction from the stimulants and can not take them. HAs anyone used accupuncture for controlling ADD symptoms?
Avatar m tn Does strattera give any false positive reading for a urine or hair follicle test? Would it come up as a amphetamine or methamphetamine, or any other illegal substance?
1710955 tn?1309446473 The propanolol increases the Provigil in the blood. I only take 100 mg. of Provigil. I have tried other medicines for fatigue and they don't work for me. I don't have any adverse effect and it actually makes me feel human. Typically, the medicines used for attention deficit disorder or ADHD are used to combat fatigue.
Avatar f tn I am a 24 year old female and began taking Strattera 6 or 7 months ago. It seemed effective at first, but was wearing off so we increased from 80mg to 100mg a little over a month ago. A few weeks ago, within minutes of swallowing the pill, my heart began to hurt very, very badly (my throat, too) that basically incapacitated me from doing anything and left me trying to vomit it out. This chest pain lasted for about 1.5 hours.
Avatar n tn The Adderal XR was effective at combating my ADHD symptoms but made my anxiety worse, so my doctor prescribed Strattera. I found the Strattera to be not nearly as effective as Adderal XR, so without consulting my doctor, I began taking both medications together. This is working extraordinarily well. The Strattera seems to ease my anxiety while slightly reducing ADHD symptoms and the Adderal XR nearly eliminates the remaining ADHD symptoms.
Avatar f tn According to the web, Strattera carries with it a "black box warning" - the most serious warning a prescription med can carry and still be on the market - that strattera has been linked to suicidal thoughts in children. I agree with Margy - I would call that doing terribly on strattera. I'm not quite sure what behaviors strattera has helped with, but a child with new suicide thoughts are about the worst thing I can think of.
Avatar f tn Strattera is a non stimulant med used for ADHD. Whether or not it would be effective for you, I don't know. This site lists almost all possible treatment options. Although for some reason, I couldn't find Strattera listed, so you need to google that. The site is http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/medications.htm And the following site also lists (with info) non stimulant meds (they do mention strattera). http://www.baltimorepsych.com/NonStimulants.
Avatar n tn I have been on Pristiq 100mg for 3 months, Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 weeks and we added Strattera 40mg. Pristiq for PMDD, Wellbutrin for motivation and Strattera for focus. Separately they help each thing only. So was wondering if anyone else is on a combo like this and it’s helped. And how long. I seem to be anxious more lately before adding Strattera....hoping this helps it. No libido what so ever.
Avatar n tn t feeling the Strattera and could i please get enough adderal until the Strattera kicked in. He originally had boo hooed any narcotic adhd meds. But he gave me enough for a week. When I took the amphetamine I immediately felt relief and I am at an age where I am pretty sure what my body needs and I don't want to play around with newer drugs with side effects I am afraid of.
