strattera

Avatar f tn My 11yr old son doesnt eat lunch do to focalin...do you know if he could take a 2mg of abilify with his focalin? I know that abilify helps you have an appetite and gain weight and my son is only 56lbs and 11yrs old...
Avatar f tn My children have been on Focalin XR for years now and have had wonderful results. Before this my son was on concerta and strattera together and it zoned him out, but the focalin allows him to focus and still be the same kid he always was. You can definately tell when the medicine has worn off, but when he is medicated he is his normal polite agreeable self and, just more focused. He is able to concentrate in class with no problems.
Avatar n tn First i would like to welcome you to this forum. I hope you find the answers to your questions. I have never taken buspar but i have taken wellbutrin and it worked quite well for me it has a component that helps with concentration. I know that both buspar and wellbutrin have been used to help people quit smoking so i believe they are along the same lines i know that i have used wellbutrin alone and with ritalin and in both instances i noticed a great improvement in my concentration ability.
Avatar f tn And he just could not function. I was wondering about Vyvanse or Focalin XR what is actualy know about the benefits ( if any) for treating someone with ADHD & ODD. Any imput would be helpful.
Avatar f tn I have a 7 year old boy who has been diagnosed with ADHD. He is on Focalin XR 5mg and Strattera 20mg. He has always been "spirited" in the manner that he is is fairly intense. While we have done many behavior modification techniques, he still can be difficult.
Avatar m tn Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
Avatar f tn At age 5 he was diagnosed with pretty sever ADHD. We started on Strattera and after two weeks he violently attacked me...We then went to Concerta then to Focalin then back to Concerta....not ever obtaining great control of ADHD. He additionally was put on Prozac about a year ago for anxiety as he was chewing the skin off his fingers until they would bleed and chew huge blisters on his lips. Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...
Avatar f tn ve read about extended release focalin verses extended release concerta is that focalin works faster (within 30 minutes of taking it) and is better for a child that needs the help prior to leaving for school and that type of thing. So, it is reported that it begins working fast in the morning and continues to control symptoms during the day and then tapers off at hours 10 to 12.
Avatar f tn My 8 hr old grandson was the same way. He was taking 25 mg of Strattera. He was getting VERY whiney and tempermental. He is now on Vaynesse. He is more in control during the day. His whining has calmed down alot. The only problem is at night like after 6pm he gets whiney and tempermental again. He doesn't want to go to bed very good, which some of it is probably him. It is like he is coming down off of it. Other days he is fine. I am ready to go back to the Strattera.
Avatar f tn Also, I like not having him on it because it makes me realize that he still needs it. Even if we are home or in a quiet environment, I can tell a difference in Focalin vs no Focalin. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn In adults, Adderall and Dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine) are often well-tolerated. As is Ritalin. Some meds are generally more successful in children, such as Focalin and Daytrana. As far as non-stimulants, some people with hyperactivity find that Clonidine helps them. Strattera also does help some people, but many get some pretty wicked side effects from it - myself included. All in all, finding an ADD med that works for you is a matter of trial and error by you and your doctor.
673186 tn?1225983925 A few months ago I was diagnosed with ADHD and instead of Adderall I tried Strattera knowing my addictive personality and past with drug abuse. I was heavily addicted to heroin and/or oxycontin, and other potent opiates along with a nasty addiction to combing them with benzos like xanax, klonopins, or valium etc.., and other sedative and muscle ralaxers. Anything I could snort it went up my nose..On Nov.
1475492 tn?1332884167 I would recommend Strattera. It might be a really good overall medication for Jordan. Strattera is not a controlled substance. It actually was used as an anti-depresant but they realized that it worked better to control ADHD. It doesn't tend to cause weight loss and it is a mood lifter. My son has ADHD, he is currently on a very minimal dose of Focalin XR. Focalin is a stimulant.
Avatar f tn My son is 5 and was diagnosed with ADHD in November. He was taken Focalin 7.5 XR until recently and the dr has recommended Vyvanse. Has anyone used this product on a child this young. I have read some side effects and it is scaring me a little.
Avatar f tn So, what you are saying is that the most effective way to treat ADHD would be to use medicines like Strattera, Ritalin etc.... and how safe are these drugs?
Avatar m tn The pediatrician started her off with 18mg Strattera. The results were immediate and amazing. For the first time ever she would sit and do her homework (alone) without getting constantly distracted. A math paper that would previously have taken an hour or two to get through suddenly was done in minutes. She also stopped getting into trouble with her teachers, and was SO cooperative at home. No arguments, frustration, or tantrums for weeks!!!
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
Avatar m tn I take 10 mg focalin once a day for my adhd. As usually I swallow it with some water. I never feel it affect me besides not being able to sleep. I had a friend who said if I snort it I will feel it better and that if I did it instead of swallowing it once a day, it wouldn't cause an addiction.
Avatar f tn I have a seven year old daughter and just started her on Focalin. Has anyone heard if Focalin stunts your childs growth?
Avatar n tn too simply answer these questions- focalin is the name brand for dexmethylphenidate, which is similar to the adhd and mild stimulant drug methylphenidate commonly known as ritalin, except for that ritalin has two isomers one thats inactive, and focalin only has the active isomer, overall its an easy way for pharmaceutical companies to make money, it is more potent than ritalin most doctors will tell you too cut your ritalin dose in half when starting focalin, meaning its twice as potent....
Avatar f tn I've recently started taking focalin because I've been kind of depressed and when I take it, it makes me feel kind of like I'm "on top" but the after math *****, then when I think I can stop I can't and I've tried showing myself the symptoms and what it can do to me to scare myself and for some reason that doesn't work.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar f tn My son developed Raynard's Phenomen after taking Strattera. Weaning him down on the dosage reduced the symptoms. His hands otherwise where blue, white, and cold through out the day. He had a reaction from the stimulants and can not take them. HAs anyone used accupuncture for controlling ADD symptoms?
Avatar m tn Does strattera give any false positive reading for a urine or hair follicle test? Would it come up as a amphetamine or methamphetamine, or any other illegal substance?
Avatar f tn I am a 24 year old female and began taking Strattera 6 or 7 months ago. It seemed effective at first, but was wearing off so we increased from 80mg to 100mg a little over a month ago. A few weeks ago, within minutes of swallowing the pill, my heart began to hurt very, very badly (my throat, too) that basically incapacitated me from doing anything and left me trying to vomit it out. This chest pain lasted for about 1.5 hours.
Avatar m tn I have a 22 year old college student, with a bad addiction to snorting Focalin (they are prescribed to me for narcolepsy and adhd) and smoking marijuana. I have been snorting the pills for about 7 months now, and I can't get myself to stop. I finally gave the pill bottle to my girlfriend to regulate for me, and watch me take it in the morning so I dont just keep it and snort it later. I have experience with rehab and drug abuse prior to the focalin.
Avatar f tn I have been snorting focalin for 7 months, I recently dumped my pills & went through 6 days of withdrawl only to pick it back up again today. My husband is not into any sort of drugs whatsoever. I need advice on other abusers should I ween off? Also has anyone here ever gone from abusing it to taking it correctly again? I feel like scum. I appreciate your responses.
