strattera

Avatar f tn 1) Why did the tics suddenly happen after being on Concerta for 6 months....did adding the Intuniv have something to do with? I know Intuniv should help with tics....very confused on this... 2) What is the probability that the tics will go away?...and if so...how long does it take? 3) The Dr. Mentioned starting Strattera again as a trial...I have read a lot of bad stuff about this med...what are the factual pros and cons? 4) Have read a little on Wellbutrin...
Avatar f tn My step-daughter is on Strattera, Intuniv, and Zoloft. I have heard many things and was wondering if it was normal for her to be on all three?
Avatar m tn As far as I know, the only two are intuniv and concerta. They use different formulations. No clue which is better. I think it probably depends on the individual. Both do take a while to take effect (compared to a stimulant). If you google them, you will be able to see lots of anecdotal posts on how it worked for that poster or their children. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn We have tried a few medications, Right now shes on intuniv and strattera. She seems to be doing better with impulsiveness, she was very dangerous, and would do stuff without thinking. So thats better, but she still has to constantly do something. I put a camra in her room to see if i could see her doing this and thats when she was biting her purse. The whole time she was watching tv she was constantly moving her mouth and lips, biting purse, and putting fingers in mouth.
Avatar m tn Yesterday, I noticed that you suggested Strattera to another mom for tics. Our doctor told us also to change to Strattera.
Avatar f tn No problems sleeping at night. He takes the Intuniv first thing in the morning.
Avatar f tn He has also been put on intuniv which caused a few really bad side effects and Strattera which didn't do anything at all for him. I have researched ADHD signs and symptoms and I do not believe he has this condition. I've voiced my concern to the pediatrician but he doesn't seem like he wants to listen to me. I have located another ADHD doctor and intend to get a second opinion soon.
Avatar n tn I just very recently read that Guanfacine (brand name Tenex, and the extended release Intuniv) may be something I could be looking into...do you have any other suggestions for drugs I should look into/research and mention to my doctor??? Please HELP!!! any useful input is VERY much appreciated!! My feedback and experience with meds ================================ Social anxiety: I first tried Paxil (high school) and that worked pretty good for the social anxiety.
Avatar f tn The doctor recommended to keep him in the 40 mg of Vyvanse, which he takes in the morning, and in the evening give him 1 mg of Intuniv. Do you know if that will help with his concentration at school?
Avatar f tn So, what you are saying is that the most effective way to treat ADHD would be to use medicines like Strattera, Ritalin etc.... and how safe are these drugs?
Avatar f tn Norepinephrine is the neurotransmitter collected by Strattera, and if it is elevated already by immunity issues Strattera will cause problems, just as in the case of Intuniv with backup glutamate secondary to immunity issues. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you to help you assess these matters w your clients. Take a look at the tests at this link: http://corepsych.com/tests14 – For cost effectiveness the IgG Great Plains and the TMA.
Avatar m tn Tics are a common side effect of stims that do go away and are not always a sign of TSD. So is he now on a non-stim like tenex, intuniv, or strattera now? Some of these may take up to 4 weeks before they become effective - so how long has he been on these? He is not yet really old enough to stop the stealing. Its an impulse caused by lack of filters. In a few more years, he will have a better chance of controlling those impulses. Right now its very difficult.
Avatar f tn my 6 yr old granson has been on many meds some with very bad side effects but now he is on a new med called intuniv it is great no real bad side effects with this med and its not a stimulant!!! it has not altered his happy go lucky personality.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old son had been on many ADHD medicine and now on vyvanse during the day and intuniv at night and I gave him the intuniv earlier and now hes acting all crazy and bouncing off walls literally. What do I do?
7420684 tn?1391039029 I have tried vyvanse for my ADD and I would hyperfocus on it and when it wore off late afternoon to early evening I would get super depressed. It helped my Social Anxiety ironically. I also tried Strattera for a week but due to my wariness with antidepressants didn't give it a chance. I was thinking about trying wellbutrin or strattera again...Thoughts? Suggestions?
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
Avatar f tn It also is somewhat short acting so many times must be used twice a day. If you are still having problems, talk to your doctor about using Intuniv. It is an extended release version of Guanfacin and does work better then Tenex. You can find a lot of very good information about both meds here - http://www.corepsych.com/2013/12/intuniv-for-adhd-details-updated/ Also, I have seen many instances where a child is on both Intuniv and a stimulant medication with very good results.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Avatar m tn ve been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
1744544 tn?1311299862 Instead, he has now taken me off of my Adderall and put me on 1mg of Intuniv, which is for CHILDREN ages 6-17.. I am a 27 year old woman who has been taking 60mg of Adderall for over 2 years, and he just STOPS and puts me on this.. Not to mention, my 6 year old son was recently prescribed 2mg of Intuniv and it turned him into a Zombie..
Avatar f tn My son developed Raynard's Phenomen after taking Strattera. Weaning him down on the dosage reduced the symptoms. His hands otherwise where blue, white, and cold through out the day. He had a reaction from the stimulants and can not take them. HAs anyone used accupuncture for controlling ADD symptoms?
Avatar m tn Does strattera give any false positive reading for a urine or hair follicle test? Would it come up as a amphetamine or methamphetamine, or any other illegal substance?
Avatar f tn I am a 24 year old female and began taking Strattera 6 or 7 months ago. It seemed effective at first, but was wearing off so we increased from 80mg to 100mg a little over a month ago. A few weeks ago, within minutes of swallowing the pill, my heart began to hurt very, very badly (my throat, too) that basically incapacitated me from doing anything and left me trying to vomit it out. This chest pain lasted for about 1.5 hours.
Avatar n tn The Adderal XR was effective at combating my ADHD symptoms but made my anxiety worse, so my doctor prescribed Strattera. I found the Strattera to be not nearly as effective as Adderal XR, so without consulting my doctor, I began taking both medications together. This is working extraordinarily well. The Strattera seems to ease my anxiety while slightly reducing ADHD symptoms and the Adderal XR nearly eliminates the remaining ADHD symptoms.
Avatar f tn According to the web, Strattera carries with it a "black box warning" - the most serious warning a prescription med can carry and still be on the market - that strattera has been linked to suicidal thoughts in children. I agree with Margy - I would call that doing terribly on strattera. I'm not quite sure what behaviors strattera has helped with, but a child with new suicide thoughts are about the worst thing I can think of.
