Common Questions and Answers about Strattera and paxil together

strattera

Avatar n tn Is it safe to take Adderal XR and Strattera at the same time? I only have a two week supply of Strattera remaining and I'm very much dreading going back to my old self. If it is safe to combine both medications, what should I say to my doctor?
Avatar m tn I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar n tn So I started Paxil again, however, the Paxil had no effect this time around (I guess I used my one and only "get out of jail free" card!!). I pretty much gave up getting help after the Paxil didn't work. That was 2 years ago. It's very frustrating. I also try HTP-5 and St John's Wart when I was not on any other anxiety meds (both during different time periods; not together). I did not notice either of them having any beneficial effect for me.
Avatar f tn After recovering from breast cancer, I was prescribed a series of medications to treat depression and anxiety. I was put on Zoloft at first and then switched a few years ago to 40mg of Paxil along with 25mg of Xanax daily. I still feel anxiety and depression, however, and am afraid these drugs no longer work or that I have become immune to their effects. Should I be expecting the dosages of these medications to change over time? Is it normal to prescribe these drugs together?
Avatar m tn Not fully true, i failed this morning for amphetamines after starting strattera a week ago and having clean drug tests before today.. After doing some digging i found theses http://www.hindawi.com/journals/crips/2013/381261/ http://www.ehealthme.
Avatar n tn I googled strattera and zoloft and most of what i found says that it is ok to take them together. (you should also do the same, so you can see what I read). Not sure where you read about the chocolate, but that would be news to me. She really shouldn't be consuming enough tea or coffee at her age to make any difference. But that is something to ask your doctor. You can google concerta and strattera and see the comparisons. There is a difference.
Avatar f tn my daughter is very anxious so the dr put her on both the cymbalta 30 mg with the paxil of 20 for one week and then 15 paxel for another week and then 10 paxil and increase to 60 cymbalta. she had a brain trauma in a car accident and has to deal with alot so is this too much. she had a seizure on the ultram but she took too many at one time for a headache..
7420684 tn?1391039029 I finally rid myself of paxil to try Lexa pro which was like holding the gas peddle down and during a winter storm and a neighbor with a loud radio and next to a truck depot for salt and sand well I was in a remote sleep having 4 dreams at once. But still survierving and on slaught of just burying my 19 year old son, loosing my pain medication for refuse to go to therapy I was doing it the old school pay with penance.
Avatar n tn Anyway my Doc gave me Strattera and the 3rd day on it I felt dizzy and confused, I felt over anxious and felt like I was loosing my mind. I had been on dexadrine years ago for depression after a hysterectomy at age 27 and I told him that my life came together on it but he gave me Strattera. I told him I really wasn't feeling the Strattera and could i please get enough adderal until the Strattera kicked in. He originally had boo hooed any narcotic adhd meds.
Avatar f tn I have stopped prozac as well.. I was on it from 2006-2008 after switching from Zoloft ( it pooped out) In the spring of 2008, I began having hot flashes and heart palpitations. I was 39 at the time, so I thought it may be perimenopause. I also was having light/scant menstrual cycles. I did, however, add strattera to the mix which may have caused problems ( Strattera and Prozac are chemical cousins and sometimes don't play well together) I added the strattera under my pdocs supervision.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
Avatar n tn I was currently on Leaxpro and just got changed to Paxil and Klonopin. I also take propranolol for my heart twice a day. Is it safe for these medications to be taken together?
219373 tn?1274921434 i have a 10 year old daughter who was recently diagnosed with aspergers, severe GAD, depression and sever insomnia. she is currently taking meletonin, clonidine and paxil. just prior to having her testing in which she was diagnosed with these she was on adderall for suspected ADD and the adderall was very effective for her concentration and focus, making schoolwork and chores etc much less stressful and frustrating.
990354 tn?1307132886 I have been on both strattera and adderall. Adderall is very addicting to this (me) addict. The strattera didnt give the buzz adderall did. ALSO many people have reported adderall increased depression. I hope this helps. Congrats on getting off the opiates. YOUR AWESOME !!
Avatar f tn I read your comments over on the child behavior forum. Really need a lot more info. Really need to know when he started the meds. But first things first - what kind of a doc is prescribing the meds? I have several reasons for asking. The is a very known reaction to stim meds and anti-depressants. "Sertraline (or zoloft) is the second-most potent SSRI on the US market (Paxil is the most potent.
Avatar m tn I take 30mg of Paxil once daily and find it to be fairly effective. I have been on it for a year and a half now and find it has less side effects than the 150mg/effexor I was on for years before hand.
Avatar f tn I have taken the two of them together with no problems. I now take Propanolol and Citolopram and still no problems. Propanolol is used to treat anxiety, high BP, cluster headaches, tremors, aids in sleeping, and maybe more. It has a short life which means it doesn't stay in your system very long, probably much like the Xanax. But they're safe together.
Avatar n tn It's making you what???did you mean black out? Ummmm, what I think is that your overmedicated. 1mg is my max dose for the day and that's a lot! taking that 3 times a day is too much.. Anyone will tell you that. Don't try to just stop taking it either - your body is physically dependent on Xanax at this point. I know because my body is dependent on the 1mg/day. Benzos are weird drugs.
Avatar m tn (1) The Strattera success rate is not as high as stimulants to control ADHD (2) When there is a side effect with Strattera the risk is much higher of how serious the side effect will be due to the fact that this med impacts the liver and also the lawsuits seem to be much more serious than the lawsuits for stimulants. My husband decided that we should not change to Strattera.
445725 tn?1206388767 One drink is like two, two is like four, etc. I find that even with one glass of wine, I get very depressed also. It also gives me a depressed feeling for day or two after. It's not worth it!
Avatar n tn Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
Avatar f tn This is a simple one, you need to stop the drinking. That's really the BEST option here. IN the VERY least, you're going to need to cut WAY back. Here's some info (excerpts from link posted below): "Paxil or paroxetine and alcohol act on similar chemicals of the brain and this is the main reason why doctors advise the users of Paxil not to combine it with alcohol." " The main concern is that Paxil increases the effects of alcohol.
Avatar f tn Whenever a doctor prescribes a medication for a child, the parent would do well to investigate its side effects of the medication. ADD medications can be very nasty, and that includes Strattera. In a case like this I would definitely investigate alternative medicine for the treatment of your child. The answer may be acupuncture which has no side effects. Do whatever works.
1398259 tn?1280537573 5 of Seroquel, which seemed to work good together. My mom passed away 3months ago and my anxiety and depression have been bothering me, which is to be expected, but over the weekend I had another breakdown and I've been a mess since then. My doc is wanting me to add celexa 10mg in the morning for a few months. He said that they work well together.
Avatar f tn I am a 24 year old female and began taking Strattera 6 or 7 months ago. It seemed effective at first, but was wearing off so we increased from 80mg to 100mg a little over a month ago. A few weeks ago, within minutes of swallowing the pill, my heart began to hurt very, very badly (my throat, too) that basically incapacitated me from doing anything and left me trying to vomit it out. This chest pain lasted for about 1.5 hours.
