I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy.
A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Sorry I mispelled Thyriod . My daughter had ADD and was on all the meds and They check her pulse and found out it was 130 way to high. She would get so tired she would crawl under the clothes racks or get into the cart and slept. Always tired but could be so bounceing next min. Also the weight issue. She hardly ate. very picky and I have thyriod problems in family and notice how she was not just right. But they kept trying to say Iron, b12, folic acid and wouldn't listen to me.
I have stopped prozac as well.. I was on it from 2006-2008 after switching from Zoloft ( it pooped out) In the spring of 2008, I began having hot flashes and heart palpitations. I was 39 at the time, so I thought it may be perimenopause. I also was having light/scant menstrual cycles. I did, however, add strattera to the mix which may have caused problems ( Strattera and Prozac are chemical cousins and sometimes don't play well together) I added the strattera under my pdocs supervision.
He was on Aderall for about 1 year, until it was taken off the shelves. Since then he has been on Strattera and Concerta. Although he suffered from most of the general side effects, the good the meds were doing was worth it.
Our family GP recently did an EKG on him, and has discovered an irregular sinus rythem, and want him to have an Ultra Sound. Her worry is an Enlarged Ventricle.

Starts out with my former medicine, strattera, but when I would take it I felt my heart was out of control and my blood pressure went up. Now on wellbutrin for about a week but I feel foggy and it is causing worse ibs. Not sure if that side effect will go away but giving it a try. My question is, if anyone can answer, why was I able to take strattera as a child with 0 side effects and then high heart rate etc now.
Started Prevacid and also Strattera for ADD. We were able to wean off of the Prevacid and just stick to Strattera, as our peds thinks the Strattera helps him with the anxiety related to the GERD, and therefore he had no complaints of symptoms of GERD. In March we went off of the Strattera, and within 4 weeks the symptoms of GERD re-appeared ( Not eating, coughing, feeling like something is caught in his throat.) We went back on Strattera and Prevacid.
ask your Dr. about Strattera. It is prescribed for Attention Deficit disorder, but is not a stimulant. It is non-addictive and not a controlled substance. It also has some of the same properties as SSNRI's. Since it affects neurotransmitters it is a very useful drug.
My doctor has me on welubturon 150mg, strattera 25mg and klonopin 1mg. The klonopin for sleep. I love the way the other two make me feel throughout the day. Focused, happy. However, I work for a gym and my physical abilities are very important as they are my job. Ever since I've started the strattera, I'm only able to give about 60% and I still feel flu'ish. Weak, sick, cold sweats. That's not me. They want me to try this for three weeks.
I want to try stimulants because I understand they usually make the biggest help for people with ADD (and Strattera might interfere with the 20 mg daily of Prozac I already take), BUT I am concerned that Stimulants may exacerbate my mvp symptoms which flare from time to time (rapid/fluttery heartbeat with accompanying anxiety/panic attack type symptoms). I was given Xanax to help with the panic attacks/rapid heartbeat a long time ago before I was actually diagnsoed with MVP by echocardiogram.
Hi, I've been on strattera for 6 days now and when I take it in the morning, about 2-3 hours after taking it I get pretty intense anxiety (heart beats fast, chest feels heavy, my whole body gets tense, my breathing feels shallow) I'd say this anxiety fully subsides in around an hour. It's the same reaction I've had to stimulants, which is why I'm trying strattera. My doctor gave me 0.25mg of xanax for this reaction and it takes it away COMPLETELY.
During the summer, we took her off the medication and lo and behold the picking stopped and the sores healed.
School started back and the teacher called asking why she wasn't on medication this year. We went to the doctor, told her we didn't want her back on the concerta and she prescribed Vyvanse. Here we are, mid school year and are months into her picking again. It is totally out of control now and she has approximately 10-15 sores on her legs/hands.
I am suffering so bad with concentration and focus its affecting my work BAD... Is it safe to take lexapro and strattera? and is it safe to take lexapro and ginko biloba untill i get insurance to get strattera ...God i feel like a mess. Cant read a sentence without forgetting what i just read. My mind is racing constantly. any info would help...
My son has ADD, not hyperactive, and was prescribed Adderall after Strattera quit working. The label says it can cause dependency after just as few weeks. How can this be a good drug if he needs to be on it long term? The dose is only 10mg and he is 16 but his dad has an addictive personality (recovering alcoholic) and it scares me. I have only gathered up my courage to give him 1 dose. I know about drug holidays and that is fine but if he doesn't abuse it, can he still get addicted? Thanks.
15 yr old daughter was diag with adhd 2nd grade - although was family "joke" adhd long before. 1st on adderall with explosive behavior - had to try before could take straterra, insurance. Strattera was fine for sev yrs - although only limited imp - just enough to tolerate her. Problems with social interaction and her mouth - she's constantly argumentative and I believe ODD. After menstruation began, strattera appeared worthless.
My son has ODD without ADHD, he has been taking a very small dossage of Topamax for over a year ( has help him loose and control his oerweight problems, but has not really help with his oposition or horrible mood swings) and now the Dr. recomendned Strattera, I´m very concern with the side efects. What should I do?
(1) The Strattera success rate is not as high as stimulants to control ADHD (2) When there is a side effect with Strattera the risk is much higher of how serious the side effect will be due to the fact that this med impacts the liver and also the lawsuits seem to be much more serious than the lawsuits for stimulants. My husband decided that we should not change to Strattera.
The Vyvanse i take is 60mg capsules and for Strattera i take 60mg capsules to. I had problems over the years. I get distracted very easily but i try not to look or be distracted but its hard sometimes. especially when people are talking, making noise and being annoying is distracting me. There are other stuff i turn my attention to though. But to get away from the distractions i would want to hike in the woods.
Whenever a doctor prescribes a medication for a child, the parent would do well to investigate its side effects of the medication. ADD medications can be very nasty, and that includes Strattera.
In a case like this I would definitely investigate alternative medicine for the treatment of your child. The answer may be acupuncture which has no side effects. Do whatever works.
She is not hyperactive, but she has a lot of problems focusing at school. I am not a fan of medicating my daughter. I was wondering can ADD be treated using natural remedies? If so can you give me some suggestions? I have been reading alot on the internet and I don't want to waste my money on something that will not work.
I started the oldest on meds about halfway thru year in 1st grade after he was almost failing and having problems concentrating and getting in trouble.
