Strattera and concerta together

Common Questions and Answers about Strattera and concerta together

strattera

Avatar n tn I googled strattera and zoloft and most of what i found says that it is ok to take them together. (you should also do the same, so you can see what I read). Not sure where you read about the chocolate, but that would be news to me. She really shouldn't be consuming enough tea or coffee at her age to make any difference. But that is something to ask your doctor. You can google concerta and strattera and see the comparisons. There is a difference.
Avatar f tn At age 5 he was diagnosed with pretty sever ADHD. We started on Strattera and after two weeks he violently attacked me...We then went to Concerta then to Focalin then back to Concerta....not ever obtaining great control of ADHD. He additionally was put on Prozac about a year ago for anxiety as he was chewing the skin off his fingers until they would bleed and chew huge blisters on his lips. Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...
Avatar m tn As far as I know, the only two are intuniv and concerta. They use different formulations. No clue which is better. I think it probably depends on the individual. Both do take a while to take effect (compared to a stimulant). If you google them, you will be able to see lots of anecdotal posts on how it worked for that poster or their children. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn My son is 15 years old and for as long as I can remeber he has always been very unhappy & extremely angry. He's been in & out of therapy (counseling) since he was 4 years old. We had NEVER concidered medication until about 8 months ago. My son was tired of not being liked, feeling angry, sad and felt he needed help beyond just counseling.
Avatar f tn My 9 year old son has been on 18mg of Concerta for three years now and it's been great for him. Unlike Ritalin, Concerta is taken only once in the morning so it starts to wear off in time for dinner and definately on time for going to bed. The problem with Ritalin seems to be that it's a difficult come down and makes going to sleep at night very uncomfortable. Concerta has been great for my son.
Avatar f tn Strattera, Adderall XR, Vyvanse, and Daytrana are medications I have taken, my brother takes Concerta. Vyvanse and Adderall XR are the only meds I can take. I have a real sensitive stomach and immune system, and am allergic to a lot so I would think that you can handle most of these.
Avatar f tn He was on Aderall for about 1 year, until it was taken off the shelves. Since then he has been on Strattera and Concerta. Although he suffered from most of the general side effects, the good the meds were doing was worth it. Our family GP recently did an EKG on him, and has discovered an irregular sinus rythem, and want him to have an Ultra Sound. Her worry is an Enlarged Ventricle. All of the ADD meds tell you to let your Dr.
Avatar m tn only took it 5 days now I am discontinue it. My doc mentioned trying concerta or strattera. Anybody have experience like this or with these meds?
Avatar f tn My 7 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 4 and has been taking strattera! We added resperidal to try and help his moods last winter. After needing to increase it and having him wet during the day we switched to abilify! I think it is working somewhat although he still has his meltdowns! The dr prescribed concerta now along with the abilify and dropping the strattera.
Avatar n tn During the summer, we took her off the medication and lo and behold the picking stopped and the sores healed. School started back and the teacher called asking why she wasn't on medication this year. We went to the doctor, told her we didn't want her back on the concerta and she prescribed Vyvanse. Here we are, mid school year and are months into her picking again. It is totally out of control now and she has approximately 10-15 sores on her legs/hands.
Avatar n tn 15 yr old daughter was diag with adhd 2nd grade - although was family "joke" adhd long before. 1st on adderall with explosive behavior - had to try before could take straterra, insurance. Strattera was fine for sev yrs - although only limited imp - just enough to tolerate her. Problems with social interaction and her mouth - she's constantly argumentative and I believe ODD. After menstruation began, strattera appeared worthless.
Avatar n tn My son is now on Concerta. we started on Strattera (sp) first and kept going up on the mg. like the Dr said. After 3 months I still didn't see any changes with him. I brought him back to the Dr and they put him on Concerta...we started at a low dose and now after changing the doses and given it time he is up to 54mg. and that did the trick, but once he got home from school he was out of control again.
Avatar n tn Is it safe to take Adderal XR and Strattera at the same time? I only have a two week supply of Strattera remaining and I'm very much dreading going back to my old self. If it is safe to combine both medications, what should I say to my doctor?
Avatar f tn which is the best med for adhd and odd together, zoloft and concerta or straterra and is their something organic that can work?
Avatar f tn Your doctor contacts the company and will probably get some paper work for you and then you and he fill that out. Concerta is generic so it throws a monkey wrench into this but you could try to work with the original manufacturer of brand name concerta. Otherwise, generics are typically not as dreadfully expensive. Are there any job opportunities on the horizen that offer insurance? good luck (make sure you are seeng a psychiatrist for your comorbid conditions).
Avatar f tn I am very healthy except for this disorder, but was seeing a doctor for medication, Strattera when I went on medicaid. Does medicaid cover Stratterra, Vyvanse or Concerta and other ADHD or ADD medications?
Avatar m tn I am not a doctor but first you should stop the marijuana usage. adderall and concerta can cause side effects, and if you go to stop them you need to ask your doctor how you should stop taken them, because if you stop taken them the wrong way you can cause more health problems to your self. a lot of people on the street take these drugs because they are like speed to them and give them as rush.
Avatar m tn I've been prescribed adderall for the past 4 years, I currently take 75mg per day. A couple months ago my Dr. started me on strattera in conjunction with my adderall. I have not noticed any improvement in my ability to concentrate or remain organized since starting the strattera, however my anxiety is gone and I am finally happy. A couple weeks ago my Dr. left and I was given a "temp" to take her place.
Avatar n tn It is one of the side effects of Ritalin perhaps you should ask your Doctor for a new evaluation of the Med, if you ever decide to let him be on Natural Remedies, it has been shown in studies that food supplements have the same efficacy as Ritalin and a Muliple Vitamin-mineral with B Complex and Vit C also Fish oil, would be good, a lot of Parents are trying this now and their children and not getting the bad side effects that Ritalin and the other meds have.
Avatar f tn My children have been on Focalin XR for years now and have had wonderful results. Before this my son was on concerta and strattera together and it zoned him out, but the focalin allows him to focus and still be the same kid he always was. You can definately tell when the medicine has worn off, but when he is medicated he is his normal polite agreeable self and, just more focused. He is able to concentrate in class with no problems.
889551 tn?1416184483 Hi! I was diagnosed with ADD recently and I'm waiting to get back in to see my psychiatrist. My last office visit we spoke about the possible medications I could choose from if I completed ADD testing with another Psych. He mentioned Strattera (but he said he didn't feel that it worked), Adderall, and Ritalin. I'm currently on abilify and wellbutrin for depression and these meds, along with adderall and ritalin lower the seizure threshold.
Avatar m tn Stimulants was horrible for him became very violent. He was on strattera and rispedorol and all he did was wake up eat and sleep. The medication was effecting his motor skills, his reaction time was very slow, like his reaction in the game was horrible, and he had alot of twitching and tics... He is now back on strattera and abilfy... He is doing great in school straight "A".. still hyper....
Avatar f tn He has also been put on intuniv which caused a few really bad side effects and Strattera which didn't do anything at all for him. I have researched ADHD signs and symptoms and I do not believe he has this condition. I've voiced my concern to the pediatrician but he doesn't seem like he wants to listen to me. I have located another ADHD doctor and intend to get a second opinion soon.
Avatar n tn Zolpidem (Ambien), Methylphenidate (Concerta), Clonidine, and Strattera. First, I do not believe my son should have ever been diagnosed w/ ADHD, I have done the research and written a paper as well as currently going through a publication on an article with my wife (not my son's mother) who is an assistant professor of counseling mental health.
Avatar f tn MY SON HAS BEEN ON CONCERTA FOR 7YRS AND IT IS WONDERFUL HE HAS ADHD. MY DAUGHTER HAS ADHD AND ODD, CONCERTA GAVE HER TICS AND FINALLY I FOUND A GREAT DOCTOR AND SHE TOOK HER OFF STIULANTS AND THEY ARE ALL GONE SHE IS NOW ON TENEX AND IS A NEW CHILD. SOMETIME IT IS JUST TRIAL AND ERA TILL YOU FIND THE RIGHT DRUG, AS YOU COULD SEE WITH MY DAUGHTER, AND BELIEVE ME WE TRIED ABOUT 10 OR MORE TILL WE GOT IT RIGHT.
311086 tn?1224728918 Got a call from the doctor today who immediately ordered me to stop taking Strattera. Apparently the symptoms described are a mild allergic reaction and can cause severe problems w/ my liver (which i now have to get tested). They are, instead, putting me on Ritalin :/ I'm not too happy about that one.
Avatar n tn we soon found out that stimulants seemed to make things worse for him, we went from ritalin to concerta to adderall to strattera. from the beginning, we have included weekly, sometimes daily therapy, and in the last three years intensive in home therapy. here we are and my son still gets suspended from school on a weekly basis for stealing, cursing, yelling and cursing at other students, and being as disruptive as he can be.
Avatar m tn Not fully true, i failed this morning for amphetamines after starting strattera a week ago and having clean drug tests before today.. After doing some digging i found theses http://www.hindawi.com/journals/crips/2013/381261/ http://www.ehealthme.
Avatar n tn I'm hoping someone here can help, perhaps a Ph.D. or someone with knowledge/experience of medicines-- I have been diagnosed ADHD since I was a little kid (early grade school) and diagnosed with social anxiety at 17yrs old (towards the end of high school). I've been on and off multiple medicines for both (I've been on 5-10 different drugs; see my personal feedback below on some of the meds if you are interested in that information). I also very much think I have OCD.
