Stop nuvaring weight gain

Common Questions and Answers about Stop nuvaring weight gain

nuvaring

Avatar f tn I had a follow up last week to get my thyroid levels checked (I have them checked every 6 months) My T3 level had almost bottomed out since my January appt. The doc said most of the weight gain was water weight and suggested a diuretic. So he tweeked my thyroid meds and I researched natural diuretic because I don't want to take the prescription stuff. I have lost about a pound a day mostly thru drinking green tea and coffee (I didn't have any caffeine intake before this).
Avatar f tn I've had pills and nuvaring. I'm in the same boat as you. I forgot pills. I'm scared the shot will make me gain weight. I'm allergic to latex so can't use the patch. My doctor won't do IUDs for personal reasons which I agree with. My coworker got the implanon and she is allergic to it and itches like crazy and she said it really hurts. I think I'll end up going back on nuvaring. I didn't gain weight.
468832 tn?1324348961 Depo is not even a great birth control. Many women gain A LOT of weight from depo. I recommend you go see your doctor about the issue and possibly try switching to another birth control.
Avatar f tn Im thinking abt getting on the nivaring. is there any weight gain or anything. Has anyone had any problems with the nuvaring since yhall neen on it... Can someone give me some information abt it... Thanks....
Avatar f tn So, i'm thinking of switching my birth control. i was on the pill, but sometimes i forgot to take it and i don't take it at the same time always. i was reading up on depo provera...i've heard some great things & then i have heard some complete horror stories! can anyone on this pill tell me about their experiences please? i have read you don't get your period anymore, tons of weight gain, hair loss, increase your risk of getting breast cancer...i mean is all of this true.
Avatar n tn I've never gained weight on the pill...I've heard of the depo shot making women gain weight...but everyone's different.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am a 29 year old female - and about 7 months ago I stopped using Nuvaring. I already had a bit of adult acne and some weight gain before I stopped, but after I stopped the acne went a little crazy - on the lower half of my face and my neck. It has also been a bit over 6 months since I've had a period, which is beginning to freak me out.
Avatar n tn I tried a few other doctors and none of them were any help either. They all just said the migraines and weight gain and missing periods were normal and that I should just lose weight. After the three months on the NuvaRing, my period returned naturally, but it was irregular for a a couple of years. Since January, I hadn't had a real period. I've had spotting that was sort of sticky and brown--not the right color at all--but not a real period.
5121963 tn?1363905257 Then they will stop) weight gain (but I have been controlling with a strict diet plan) mood swings, depression, hair loss...etc. I'm sick of it and it's only making me more depressed because I want to be ME again...A happy girl! So I talked to my doctor about this and he suggested NuvaRing to stop my periods. I felt like I was pressured into getting it as my doctor just saw me smile and he said "okay..I'll order that for you.
Avatar f tn ve been thinking alot about getting the patch because I know I will not remember to take the pill the way it should be take and do not want the shot due to the weight gain I got before when I used the shot. This seems like the best option for me. Has anyone else used the patch? What are you're thoughts on it? Will it stop your period or affect it at all?
Avatar f tn I was on the Nuvaring and after many different kinds of BC it was the one I loved. It's the only time my periods were regular but the hormone levels were perfect. I didn't gain weight or get moody. And stopping and starting my period was a piece of cake, not like when I was on the pill.
Avatar f tn Do your research on those other option cause the side effect if your not careful. Like the depo shot it can cause weight gain in some people it did me and 5 yrs later I have not bounced back from it. So just be careful and do your research.
Avatar f tn m 38wks Pregnant and I was wondering what yall would recommend for Birth Control. I was thinking about the Depo shot but I heard it makes you gain a lot of weight? This is the first time ill ever be in birth control nd have no knowledge of any of these.... Any suggestions?
290867 tn?1333569278 I couldve sworn that I replied to this (maybe it didn't go thru) The IUD CAN cause scarring and sometimes make it hard to conceive children later on. My OBGYN wouldn't put one in (I wanted the copper one but mirena can cause problems too) because I had a csection and he said there was a pretty big risk to me of porforation where it goes thru the scar tissue into the abdomen.
Avatar n tn There are so many options out there you should speak to your gyno about your preferences
Avatar f tn I prefer the depo prevera myself, it keeps me from having a monthly cycle which I love but it does have a tendency to make you gain weight so if you choose it I suggest you try a healthier lifestyle with a good amount of exercise if not you'll pack on the pounds like crazy
Avatar f tn LEGALLY your mother can't force you to get the shot. IT can make you gain weight, I put 50+ lbs on with it. Personally I'd suggest the Nuvaring if it's an option. I spent 3 months on it and LOVED It! The reason is Nuvaring is low dose, you won't normally put weight on with it, and it's easier than a pill and you don't have to remember it every day the same time.
Avatar f tn My younger sister got the depo shot for about 4 years and she has been off for about a year or so she has yet to receive a regular period gain massive weight also she has been having skin problems that we think has to do with the depo...I also kno someone who got one of the rings not sire witch one but she go prego & the couldn't find the ring inside her ...so I'm going to say the pill or maybe the patch if they still offer them ..
Avatar f tn I chose the nuvaring. I was told the arm implant wouldn't help regulate my periods and the pill and depo shot can help weight gain. My choice was between the IUD and nuvaring.
Avatar f tn I've really never done birth control long term but I know i really need to find something that works for me. My fiance wants to have a baby soon after the little one we have coming in February so I have to pee proactive about family planning lol. I'm nervous that it'll make me gain weight. I'm thinking I'll try the pill since I'm leary of implants and things have to put inserted by a doctor. Has anyone had experiences with the pill and the side effects?
Avatar f tn I'm 39 weeks & I want to get on birth control at my 6 week check up after having the baby but I'm curious as to what some of you would maybe suggest? I can't do the pills it never worked for me & I tried multiple different ones & I did nothing but bleed, not sure about depo shot because of the weight gain & I do not trust any of those ones they put inside of you ad I heard they can break off & I'm not willing to risk that. Are there any other options left?
639543 tn?1297027634 m going with mirena or Copper IUD after this baby because normally hormones make me gain weight. The shot made me gain 50+ lbs and Nuvaring made me gain 15. my doctor said if I gained weight on nuvaring, which was super low dose that I'd gain weight on ANYTHING hormonal.
Avatar f tn m 15weeks). (only managed to end up at 176-178 from 192 before getting pregnant. I found I gain weight on ANY birth control. I was on Nuvaring and put on 10lbs in 3 months.. NO THANKS) My best friend bled the whole time on depo. btw, my dr. said I'm VERY fertile and advised me that if DH and I don't want more babies after this one for a while to get on BC ASAP.
Avatar f tn The birth control pill is nice. You can take it so that you only have a period every four months (discuss with your gynecologist). I find it works well for me (I'm on Microgestin, but there are several out there and your gynecologist will decide what works best for your needs). I had heavy, 7-day-long periods with several clots, nausea, severe cramping, and severe lower back pain before going on the pill but now have light to moderate 2-3 day long periods with few clots if any.
