I am a new mommy so i gI am 15 weeks and 3 days and I was having really bad stomach pains on my right side under my ribs for two days. Couldn't lay on that side or anything. It then migrated to the just the left side bit in the same spot. Then it just went away. Anyone know what's happening?
I'm 9 weeks pregnant and I haven't really had any morning sickness. But the last couple nights I've had sharp pains. N my lower ribs and sometimes on the sides of my stomach is it normal?
Walking around also helps clear gas. Pain under right ribs with gas can be due to any inflammatory bowel disease like Celiac or Crohn’s, IBS or due to food intolerance. Pain under right rib case can also be due to pleurisy, asthma, or any other lung problems. Usually this is accompanied by lung related symptoms like breathlessness, cough etc. If all these are ruled out, then laparoscopy should be done, especially if you have a previous history of any abdominal or pelvic surgery.
Every once in a while I have pretty severe pains under my ribs. It usually occurs on the right side, but sometimes it can spread to the middle, over to the left slightly and to the middle of my back. It usually feels like there is a bit of swelling. I also have nausea some of the time. The pain usually only lasts for 4-5 hours, but the last pain I've had has lasted from Wednesday around 4 a.m. and has continued through today (Thursday).
The two may not be related you could have scratched your throat, and also the Pain could be Gall Bladder related, the Pain however of a Gall Bladder Attack is severe not like a cramp, it starts under the right ribs and radiates up and into the shoulder blades,seems to be triggered by eating Fatty foods, comes on about 1-2 hours after eating,get it looked at if that sounds like it, can you speak to your Dad on the Phone and get his input if the pain continues.
It started in my lower back then went to under my ribs. The right side at my ribs hurts the most. Lately ever time I eat I get a knott (spasm) in the middle of my ribs at my stomach. I have had a Cat scan, blood work, pelvic ultrasound, ultra sound of my kidneys and there is nothing abnormal. I know there is something wrong. I wouldnt have pain, other wise. Sometimes I will get sharp pains after eating and I have to wait a few seconds and then it goes away.
Anyone got any thoughts....
Right side pain under your ribs can indicate high blood pressure. The pain comes from your liver trying to compensate. I don't know how it works exactly but that's what my doctor said. If you were further along I would say it's just your stomach and uterus pushing into your ribs, but since it's so early in your pregnancy it is likely something else. Good luck!

I am going to the doctor for the 5th time today for the same thing. None of the pain killers that he has given me help at all, & Im getting a bit worried.
My problem started when I was on holiday. On the 16th of February this year we went to a nature reserve close to Port Elizabeth. I went into one of the cages that had lion cubs. They were about 8 months & almost ready to be moved in with the adult lions.
hi,i know this might sound silly,but it could simply be trapped wind,,as i get it alot,sometimes i feel like im going to explode,and my ribs hurt,and as u say a sence of pressure,but if u think about it,when ur gut is full of gas,ur stomach swells,but ur ribs dont move, so the stomach must press against the ribs,,but u could always go to see ur gp, just to get it checked out,good luck, viv
Last night i woke up with very sharp pain right below my right ribs. It hurt to breathe. It was also on kind of in my back. It hurt pretty bad. It went away after a few minutes. Then this evening i was crouching down to get the dogs dressed for Halloween and i started to get a cramp there again. Then a bit later i bent over to put on my daughters gloves and it started again. I was just bending over a bit. Anyone had this happen. I'm 11w5days.
I have been having these pains on my right side just below my ribs. I went to my GI doctor and he gave me a endoscopy and said, I had a hiatal hernia and barrett's esophagus. I told him I thought it was Irritable bowel syndrome since I have been having alot of gas pains and some diarreha. I asked him if there was something that he could give me for it and he said, no. I had been taking Bentyl, but it stopped working. Then he gave me Zelnorm, but stopped it because he said it was dangerous.
Hey ladies is this common? I'm only 8weeks but since this morning I have that sharp pain under my right ribs its especially more painful when breathing. It's not accompanied by heartburn it's just uncomfortable and I have some burping tmi sorry.
I have this numbness in my stomach.. well a little higher. It is just below my ribs on my right side and just above my uterus. I am 36 weeks pregnant and I am wondering if this is normal? My baby is moving like he should but it is a golf ball sized part of my skin that I have no feeling in. Please answer.
Probs started late nov 2009 with slight dull discomfort under right side ribs. Then over xmas felt terrible, kept waking at 2am with sweats and bloating, also yellow coloured stools. Went to doc and had blood tests, all were clear except slightly raised alt in liver. Had told doc that I definatley drink more than i should but also not dependent. Just heavy social drinker. Still felt ill through Jan and into feb so doc arranged ultrasound for main organs...all ok.
Hello I'm 30 years old and about 260 and about a week ago I started having sharp pains on my right side that comes and goes. Sometimes it's burning sensation under my right ribs and other times it's a sharp pain in the right side of my stomach. I've went to the emergency room and they did a blood test and urine test but don't really know what the problem could be. Everything came back normal.
I've also got pain under my left ribs which radiates into the chest, into my upper back, sometimes under my right ribs, and right arm, which isn't as often and not as bad, but usually it radiates under my left arm too. I also get pains in my stomach all over, sharp pains a bit like spasms, as well as lower back pain at times, I also feel nausea at some points too with all of these symptoms. As long as you have been fully checked out I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.
