Once after high fat meal, once with the flu, and now the 2nd time exactly 30 minutes after taking tylenol with codeine. Thought the first time was a fluke. Took this time for an abscessed tooth. The side effects MUCH worse than the tooth pain.
I searched the internet for side effects, didn't find anything until this. I feel better, but am concerned if I ever get an illness with intense pain requiring a narcotic.
m only 21 and I can already see negative effects taking them is having with me. I get sharp pains in my stomach after taking them and have noticed that if I have a couple of drinks I spend the entire next day vomitting (worried about my liver/kidneys). The minute I try to stop taking them I get terrible headaches and give up and end up popping a few pills. I'm terrified of what im doing to my body.
Hi everyone, just needing some support, on day 3 of withdrawal from codeine , doing cold turkey, was taking 8 tablets of neuofen plus daily for 18 months for back pain, i can cope with all the symptoms i have of loose bowels, severe stomach cramps etc, but its the leg restlessness that im finding unbearable, its so bad im not getting any sleep and am so tired, anyone have any suggestions on how to ease this? thanks in advance.
Hi again, thankyou for keeping talking to me. When I was at my worst I was taking 16 cocodamol 30/500 twice a day. I managed to reduce and at lunchtime the day before I first went to the clinic I took 8 of these tablets, this was at the direction of the doctor in the clinic. So I took them and that was my last. I was doing OK the whole time I went until the 11th day when I was given the naltrexone.

Hi ive being on codeine for over 6 years I take them now because I feel gd on them I take anywhere from 10 /20 a day sometimes more I recently got 250 of the doctor and with in 5 days they was gone its messing with my life I have 2 great daughters and would like to see them grow up but all I think about when I wake up is me tablets I dare not go out without taking a strip or 2 with me I really want to get of them is there anybody what can point me in the right direction plz
What would you do after taking them for two days? If you stop after two days you may have some mild withdrawal again and be suffering with you original problem again, plus you would have more than a week before you see the doctor again. So, if you were only going to take them for two days then i wouldnt take em at all and just wait to see the doctor again.
Codeine is listed in all of my medical records as a drug that I cannot take. It has been such a long time since I took codeine, I cannot remember whether I took it with food or not. I think I may have taken it on am empty stomach.
If you have only just found your job, then it's going to be hard to take time off to go through the withdrawals. The only thing you can do is to try and minimise them, but they can't be avoided alltogether. Reducing the codeine gradually should help. Try and time it so that you can stop taking it altogether over the weekend or when your not at work. Eat healthily, take vitamins, drink plenty of water and try to sleep if you can.
My 17 year old son has chest pains after taking ibuprofen. The first time it happened I took him to his Pediatrician because of the back pain he had that day and mentioned the pain in his chest because I gave him ibuprofen thinking it would help. They did a EKG and it came back fine that was about 3 years ago. IT has happened every time I gave it to him either pill and now liquid. I know I have given him liquid in the past when he was little so why is this happening now.
Anyway, despite clearing my blockage I am still have intense 10/10 pain scale pains before, during then after BM. It feels like the passage has narrowed or something as I seem to feel the matter passing through. It felt like labour contractions this morning which I had to try to use to push the BM out. It doesn't help that I now also have horrible menstrual cramps too. I'm scared about how long this will continue and whether something more nasty is occurring.
My doctor actually had to give me a narcotic that has codeine in it to stop mine, but if that doesnt work I have to go to the ER and get IV meds because my migraines change my vision and make me have terrible dizzy spells....
yes ive only been taking small dose codeine 3 weeks and am experiencing bad things sick in stomach heat insomnia aggravation severe restlessness weakness was taking 2mg of valium which wasnt stopping anxiety altogether but i could still do things now i dont want to even get dressed too weak so it can affect u on a low dose i now feel like i want it all the time so very addictive these sort of drugs should not be allowed on the market a complete ban needs to be put on them my anxiety has been mad
Ive been taking prescribed Solpadol 30/500 for 20months. Originally, Tramodal for undiagnoised pain, gall stones? Tramadol made me hallucinate so changed 2 Solpadol. The pain passed but left stomach ache & chronic migraines. Told Dr I feel SO ill but apart from headaches, nausea & bad stomach it was hard to explain. Then I felt as if I couldn't get enough air & my ribs ached My neck &shoulders ached.
I have been taking Codeine for pain for a while now. At first no problems with constipation then I had, literally, 4 bowel movements in the space of about 5-6 weeks. I should add that during this time I was not eating a lot because I had lost my appetite, I'm guessing, because I was so blocked up.
The pain has subsided and codeine is no longer necessary. I took a laxative once before bed on the first day without any Codeine.
I am addicted to codeine and xanax. I eat codeine when I have no pain. My friend who is not addicted gives codeine cotin when I run out of my t4's. I chew hers to get instant relief. I have been taking xanax for about 15years. I do not abuse these but I am still addicted. When I have to start taking more for them to work I cut down so my tolerance is not to high. I am definetly a pill addict. I am more worried about the codeine and I am scared to quit both together.
No problem, Gia are you on just Fioricet without the codeine?? I'm taking the Valium because that's the other addiction I am going to have to work on. It was originally for anxiety. I sent you a message that will help you understand how I fell into this mess. I have to agree with Imdonenomore. If you can get a prescription and taper, it would be much safer for you. Withdrawals didn't hit me until after a month of tapering, that bang, I wimped out and started taking just one a day.
Anyhoo, I am now on day 5 and have not taken any ibuprofen, no paracetamol, no codeine. I had a migraine yesterday and instead of taking any of those I took my Imigran nasal spray 100mg and Voltaren suppository 100mg at the same time and it went away after lying down. I hate suppositories but I need to help myself. What I need to know is when is the codeine out of your system? I am drinking alot of water and eating well.
Hi Robin, and thankyou for your lovely message. I'm based in Northern Ireland, so over here codeine comes as cocodamol 30mg codeine, 500mg paracetamol. Last year I would take 16 at once, twice a day. This time around I phoned my doctor before it got that bad again and was taking 10 - 12 a day. I'm now prescribed codeine phosphate 30mg so I don't wreck my liver to borderline hepatitis C with paracetamol as I was at that point last year.
