Avatar n tn Hello, I have a consistent pain on my right quadrant side. It has been almost two yrs this pain started. Doctors have ruled out kidney stones, gall bladder. I cannot lay on my left side because it makes the pain worse. Sitting is very uncomfortable. It feels like a deep pain. It is annoying. Gastro Doctor this morning said it is probably related to liver and linings. So when I lay on my left side, my liver moves or pulls. To diagnose this, they would need to insert a scope in my liver.
Avatar f tn The liver, stomach, gallbladder, pancreas and lung disease can all radiate pain in the upper right quadrant. Upper right quadrant pain should not be ignored, since it can indicate serious disease. Make an appointment to see your gastroenterologist to diagnose the cause of the pain. Good luck.
Avatar n tn In the meantime, pain in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen can indicate a problem with your gallbladder. You might notice that your symptoms are worse with a large, fat-laden meal in that case. Whatever it is, it's time to see your doctor.
Avatar f tn I am 35 years old and for the last 4 months I have been having Right Upper Quadrant Pain right under my rib. The pain is sharp that has now become constant. It's now causing me difficulty sleeping on my stomach. When I saw my PCP, she felt on physical exam that my liver was enlarged, I had an ultrasound that day, which was negative. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy which was negative, I have also had a battery of lab tests that were negative.

Avatar f tn Off and on for a couple of months now I've been having this pain in my upper right quadrant, sometime to the right of my navel, and most times just "under" my ribs on the right side. In June I had an endoscopy which revealed mild esphogitis and mild gastritis, and a hiatal hernia. (At that time it all started witha horrible bloated feeling all the time.) So, the gastro doc thought he had the answer.

Avatar f tn I have been having pain in the right upper quadrant since my gallbladder was removed in November 2005. It is hard for me to lay on my stomach also without pain. But I can have pain without any pressure there also. What could be casing it?. The pain seems to be under the ribs. Past history: uterus out in 2004; kidney stone removal (surgically) in Dec 2005 (about 6 weeks after the gallbladder came out) and then an oopherectomy in Jan 2006.
Avatar n tn Did you mean you have pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen? Right upper quadrant pain and white stool could indicate disorders in the liver or gall bladder. If you have jaundice then it could point towards an obstructive disorder like gall stones. The other causes for pain could be GERD (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease), where the acid contents of the stomach came up into the esophagus and peptic ulcer disease.
Avatar f tn For the past week or so I have had a dull pain in the lower right abdominal area that comes and goes. I've also been pretty bloated also. Maybe even a little sick to my stomach here and there. It's not constipation because i have no problem going to the restroom. Anyone have any ideas? 711171 tn?1245941848 Then in about October/ November of I started having abdominal pain in the right upper quadrant which shoots up into my right shoulder. I had my gallbladder out in 2000, so I knew it wasn't that. I have had every scan, blood test, ultrasound known to man. I was referred to a doctor at MUSC that specializes in digestive diseases. I have been going down there for over a year now and still have no answers.
Avatar f tn I just had my gallbladder removed about 3 weeks ago and had right upper quadrant pain/cramping/a fullness or bloated feeling with occasional back pain. I had a gallbladder ultrasound done that showed nothing but then they done something called a Hida scan that showed my gallbladder had only a 16% ejection fraction. I believe 30% or so is normal. When the surgeon removed my GB he said that I had a chronically infected GB that had been causing my problems. Ask them if they will do a Hida scan.

Avatar f tn There are numerous causes of right lower quadrant abdominal pain, of varying levels of severity. These include appendicitis, mesenteric adenitis, ileitis (e.g., Crohn's), colitis, kidney stones, kidney infection, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, hernia, and/or cancer. You should see your doctor, as proper diagnosis depends upon clinical history, physical examination, and laboratory and/or imaging tests.
Avatar f tn Now have less diarrhea and bloating symptoms- but have right upper quadrant pain- dull, aching, radiates to back. Normal ultrasound of the area makes my gastroenterologist think it is a combo of a muscle strain and IBS. Do think it’s worse after having a glass of wine (1-2 times a week). Could this be a sign of something more serious? I think I had a similar issue years ago. Thank you for any input!

Avatar m tn lol Seventeen years ago, in my very early 40s, I started having upper right quadrant pain. The gastro doctor did several tests, Scope down the throat, up the rear. This one where I ate these crystals and made my stomach blow up for some imaging. They did not find anything. They said theres nothing wrong with me, I'm not dying of cancer, go away, we are tired of you. lol. I ended up on Omniprizole 40mg 2x/day and Bella donna 2x/day.
Avatar f tn nearly a month ago, I started having the same pain in my upper right quadrant which radiates to below my right shoulder blade. I had a CAT scan this past week after my doctor suspected my gallbladder yet again. Results: NOTHING except that I still have a small hiatal hernia and an accessory spleen. Neither one explains my pain. She then ordered bloodwork which is not back yet. The pain is accompanied by bloating, indigestion, tenderness, slight nausea, loss of appetite (at times).

Avatar f tn I went through a similar thing. Pain in the upper right quadrant that was worse when liing down. My GP thought I was having gal bladder issues as well and odered all the tests which came back negative. He referred me to a GI who suggested a dislocated rib as a result of severe cough. A pain management dr referred me to a physical therapist who specializes in spinal related injuries and uses a unique treatment that combines chiropractic care with pt.
