Avatar n tn I had asthma as a child. I have always been very allegic to Pine, either the trees or pinesol. I usually have great trouble breathing when I am around it. I have been going to meetings at a building for the past 3 years. One day I was breathing find and the next day, I had to be hospitalized. I had developed pnuemonia. This had been going on for about 2 1/2 years. I did not know that they used pinesol to clean. Although sometimes I thought I was getting a wiff of it.
427555 tn?1267553158 I have a problem with grackles dropping the waste of their youing, in and around our pool. This started a few yrs ago when our pine trees got to be about 30 feet tall. They are nesting in the trees. Short of cutting down the trees, what can we do to discourage their behavior?
Avatar f tn When I break out in hives, I wash the affected area with Dawn dish suds (to remove the plant oils) and finally dry and swab the area with peroxide (because I always end up with some cuts). Sometimes that’s enough to stop the itch, so I might apply an antibiotic ointment like Bacitracin to prevent infection. But if it's very itchy, I skip the Bacitracin and apply a topical anti-itch cream like Hydrocortisone or Benadryl topical ointment. The hives may take up to an hour to die down.
Avatar f tn The pine bears seeds in cones and the cones that open upon maturity and spread their seeds are usually the female pine trees. The seed itself is almost entirely endosperm. The cedar nut is the seed of the Swiss pine. 612551 tn?1450022175 I allowed the vet to test him for environmental allergens back in October. The results said he was highly allergic to pine trees (which make up our backyard) and every type of grass that grows in Louisiana (which is where we live). I decided to give immunotherapy injections and try since he was in bad shape. It was one of the best decisions I have made. 10 months later Boomer no longer has ANY skin problems. As of now he gets a 1mL injection of his immunotherapy every three weeks.
Avatar f tn Its goes back to pagan germany. The Germanic tribes use to celebrate the winter solstice by honouring the evergreen tree. They used this tree because it was one of the few trees that didn't "die" with the coming of the snow. The celebration evolved to placing lights on the tree to help usher in the day when the days began to get longer. Once the Germanic tribes converted to christianity they brought with them a few of their previous traditions.
Avatar n tn Anyone else having this problem? We live in rural west Auckland, lots of pine trees about too. Have been trying to solve for 2 years.
1260255 tn?1288654564 Quick take is that’s okay unless flames shoot up sky high. There are tons of pine needles on the ground, with embers dropping onto them. I run and grab a hoe and rake out the pine needles from under my steed and proceed to tamp out any small fires that kept popping up. I did not give up after that, but kept an eye and nose out for smoke. It happened two more times before I finished my mission.
746512 tn?1388807580 I honestly think my fall problems were caused by the trees- cedar, alderwood, and/or pine. The problem seemed to get worse if I went to into a forest and it completely disappeared after I moved to Australia. So whatever was causing my problem is back in the Washington State. I will say I've got non-allergenic rhinitis, which basically means I have never tested positive for antibodies because my body reacts on a chemical level, bypassing the immune system completely.
Avatar f tn So my son and I assembled four bins of straw (bought a bale for $4 at the feed store), pine needles (from a lodgepole pine so quite long), wool (a neighbor keeps sheep), and dog hair (from our dog's groomer), and a smaller container with short pieces of string (no piece longer than 6" or it's dangerous for the birds).

Avatar m tn He referred me to an ENT, which I have not seen yet. I hate this smell and long for the days of being able to smell freshly mowed grass, pine trees, good food, etc, instead of this constant bad odor. No one else can smell it but it seems to me that since something happened during my bout of flu, that this has to be related to that and a nose culture should be able to identify something abnormal. Does anyone know if the nose can be cultured for abnormal bacteria / fungus other than MRSA?
148588 tn?1465778809 One author identified research reporting various significant ecosystems threatened by fire exclusion — including aspen, whitebark pine, and Ponderosa pine (western montane ecosystems), longleaf pine, pitch pine, and oak savannah (southern and eastern ecosystems), and the tallgrass prairie.
Avatar m tn Natural medicine tends to work better on a clean system. But as with any antidepressant, Sam-e could cause some agitation, as antidepressants can be stimulating.

612551 tn?1450022175 So many little birds love the pine trees. (So do I ) Of course, we have plenty of pine trees in Minnesota....that will soon be covered with snow...! We have had snow flurries all week, though we don't have any that is staying on the ground just yet. Our pond has a thin layer of ice covering it, and the bird baths are frozen solid. My Mom had a Westie...what a great dog she was. Mom's dog had a skin condition called Malassezia.

Avatar m tn In March 2011, the FDA published an advisory titled “Pine Mouth” and Consumption of Pine Nuts. The report states: In the past year FDA has received a number of consumer complaints regarding a bitter metallic taste associated with pine nuts. Avatar m tn But last night as my wife and I were discussing my efforts I had an epiphany - why not leave the nice (artificial) tree with its many colored lights up? We even decided that it could be a tribute to Dr Martin Luther King, in addittion to overworked husbands. The many colored lights living in harmony on the symbol of eternal life - the evergreen tree. Does this make sense to anyone but me? It is seriously not meant to be derisive to Dr King at all.....
435139 tn?1255460391 Wow, that sounds like a ton o' fun!!! We have a good ol' fashioned fake tree that is pre-lit. DH doesn't like dealing with the live trees and my cat would probably go berserck!
Avatar n tn It could have a reaction to the ribavirin which is trying to protect the good cells. Try taking some motrin to relieve the stress you are going through which might be keeping you up. The meds do play on your brain, but they need to do their job. Good luck.
Avatar n tn One cause (not the only one) is eating pine nuts. Not the pinons from New Mexico, but pine nuts from China. They are featured in some salads and pesto. If you don't eat pine nuts, I'd go see a doctor.
Avatar m tn Benzos are a bad remedy for insomnia, as they interfere with the brain's ability to learn how to adapt to stress and interfere with REM sleep, and of course are addictive with quite a withdrawal kick. Although you only used it for a short time, people are different in how they respond to quitting -- it should be done gradually even after short term use if that use was continuous as opposed to as-needed occasional use.
