Sonata vs fusion

Common Questions and Answers about Sonata vs fusion

sonata

Avatar m tn I've searched the web and here and no really good answer. I'm taking a Sonata about 3 or 4 oclock in the morning. It does cause some jitters next day. Now I've started Sam-e and a Super Beta Complex and the Jitters are unbearable. I take some Xanax and it helps some. I can't take much and still function. The question is ... Is it the Sam-e or the Super B Complex causing the extreme jitters or anxiety?
Avatar n tn So talk to your Dr. ask them when they want to do a forth one vs. a fusion and weight your options, because as you have read a fusion doesn't always work.
516865 tn?1224207354 The one recommending the discectomy with fusion looks at it aggressively. However, laminoplasty is a quicker procedure with less morbid side effects, while discectomy with fusion is a longer procedure which may have more peri-operative risk. This is one aspect to think about, however, I suggest you discuss this more in depth with your surgeons.
Avatar n tn I have the same type situation where the transverse process hits the sacrum and also hits the illium forming a pseudo joint at those 2 locations. My fusion in 1982 made the problem way way worse .... the fusion of the L6-S1 lumbo segment is solid with the sacrum, but the transverse process made a false joint with the ilium also, and since the L6-S-1 segment is solidly fused to the sacrum it allows more movement between the transverse process and the ilium now post fusion surgeries.
Avatar f tn another option is to get your doctor to prescribe something specifically for insomnia such as ambien, sonata or trazodone. discuss over the counter options with him such as benadryl and others available. lastly, its great to hear YOU know what works best for YOU. don't discount that.
Avatar m tn I'm about to have an artificial disc replacement in my neck. I've had cervical and lumbar fusion and am glad I did. (don't know why so many are afraid of surgeries). I know doctors are leery about giving pain meds to patients, as well they should be, but there are instances where it's necessary. My question is why do I get nausious when I take hydrocodone and not when I've taken oxycodone? I asked an er doctor for oxycodone instead of hydrocone and told him why.
Avatar m tn Anyway, when I took it to the pharmacy, all of the medications was controlled substances, percocet, sonata, and diclofenac. I was shcoked but the pharmacist tech already scanned it and I trust the FNP. I always go to this same pharmacy and never had a problem filling my prescriptions and my disabled problem. The pharmacist was even willing to fill the diclofenac at the time. I decline and told her I would pick them up Monday when all 3 were ready and I this didn't fill right.
Avatar n tn So maybe that is a better way of putting it, is there any research or published opinions that discuss the success percentage of a second two level cervical fusion for the reduction of pain, possibly even vs. other treatment (though this part not that important). I hopoe that the additional information is helpful and appreciate any direction you might be able to provide.
Avatar m tn Herb, hi, I had a spinal fusion for scoliosis in 1997... in 2002 i had all of my rods removed because they were really very bothersome to me and i felt as though i could feel them through my skin. I've been much happier having them out. My rods were not harrington i believe they are TSRH rods.... I am not sure on the difference of the level of difficulty of removing one vs. the other. They do often have to chip out the rods since many of them are fused with bone after all that time.
Avatar f tn t tell much of a difference in rom except when looking behind my car when backing up which i just turn my while body vs neck. My fusion helped me so much I am 7 mo post op from it and doing great! I pray all goes well and that you get relief!
Avatar n tn There may be a relationship to cervical vs lumbar fusion, but I think the recovery time is different. It actually depends on the extent of the surgery being done. When you get more information regarding the procedure they are contemplating, post with an update and we will give you as much support and assistance as possible.
Avatar f tn In the second study, known as the FUSION trial, patients who had not had a response to prior interferon therapy received sofosbuvir and ribavirin for 12 or 16 weeks. The rates of sustained virologic response achieved with sofosbuvir and ribavirin in the population of patients with prior treatment were superior to the historical control rate of 25% (using peg-INF and RBV), with rates of 50% in the 12-week group and 73% in the 16-week group (P < .001).
148588 tn?1465778809 The proportion of patients who achieved SVR with 24 weeks of triple therapy following a lead-in phase was 56% (P = .0005 vs standard of care) vs 54% with 28 weeks of triple therapy and no lead-in treatment (P = .013 vs standard of care). Another important finding concerns the incidence and extent of anemia.
Avatar f tn I'm having anterior cervical disk discectomy and fusion C3-C7 next month. Had an MRI recently for neck ache and intermittent numb tingly left arm. I was immediately sent to a neuro surgeon, and was scheduled for surgery as soon as he could get me in his schedule. NS will remove the discs and replace with "cages", plastic/cadaver bone, and plate over the 5 vertebrae. Hes concerned the bottom screws may not hold.
1456870 tn?1304129806 2x failed micro diskectomy, L3-L4, L4-L5, L5-S1 PLIF, 1x removal of hardwear, L1-L2, L2-L3 fusion. So either way my back hurts constantly, as it should after all that. I have struggled with alcohol abuse, and medication abuse. I have about 6mth's free from drinking, not a problem, i just feel better. Now I am currently taking pain med's, Oxycontin 60mg 1am -1pm, and Oxycontin 40mg 2 @ lunch. I can say it has helped the most with the pain.
Avatar n tn I have a bulging disc in my neck and my doctor wants to do a spinal fusion but I really don't want that. I've read alot of bad things about fusions. I was just wondering if anyone or know anyone who has had artifical disc replacement.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had spinal fusion done L4-5 back in 2001. Just recently My MRI shows that my fusion did not hold and I have a loose screw! I have been feeling this strange bump in my lower back thinking it was a bone, tumor...and most likely irritated it more. I hope it hasn't become infected! My present doctor says I will need surgery again to fix this serious problem. My question is...Should I contact the surgeon who performed my surgery back in N.Y.? Or perhaps file a law suit against him?
Avatar f tn High and low cortisol have similar symptoms - where they vary is weight gain vs loss and high vs low BP (but that is not perfect either!).
Avatar f tn I saw your post a couple days ago, and didn't weigh in because I haven't had this specific type of back surgery. I did have a successful fusion at L4/5 several years ago. Are you referring to an minimally evasive microdisectomy? Done endoscopically??? Where the disc is just trimmed and not removed?
631640 tn?1264419173 Fusion vs. gemination would depend on if there are 1 or 2 roots, without an xray I cannot tell. With gemination, you may be able to save the tooth with a root canal and crown. Fusion, you would need to remove the tooth/teeth and get an implant. Either way would require braces to close the gap once the tooth is made normal size. You would be in a temporary crown until the teeth are in the right position. You are looking at 6-12 months total for treatment and between $5-7000.
1503144 tn?1289436080 t need and says the pain is all in my head. i am frustrated. What should i do? they say a four disc fusion. i also have taken all kinds of meds to control the pain but nothing works.
Avatar m tn Either way, it is Ortho or Neuro to do the Disc. Fusion I need. I am leaning towards Neuro, for all data I have read and research done. Your thoughts please? Thx. for the read n your time! MegaLumbarPain out.
