I am having trouble sleeping while on interferon/ribavirin. Is it safe to eat a valium while on these meds?
Hi peoples. Back again, sorry. I see that you good folks know something about sleeping problems. I've had those for years. Can't get to sleep, then in the morning don't want to wake up. I don't mean I don't get "unsleepy", I mean consciousness isn't to be desired. That's a different thing.
Benzos are a bad remedy for insomnia, as they interfere with the brain's ability to learn how to adapt to stress and interfere with REM sleep, and of course are addictive with quite a withdrawal kick. Although you only used it for a short time, people are different in how they respond to quitting -- it should be done gradually even after short term use if that use was continuous as opposed to as-needed occasional use.
Just remember that prescription sleeping drugs can't be taken more than 3 nights per week without risking dependency, and they are he'll to get back off of. I found OTC melatonin to work very well most nights, and both my hepatologist and my primary care physician approved of it during tx and after as well. Paradoxically, it works better at small doses than large, and the ones I bought at Trader Joes are large at 5mg. I cut them into quarters and take about 1.25mg each night.

I've searched the web and here and no really good answer. I'm taking a Sonata about 3 or 4 oclock in the morning. It does cause some jitters next day. Now I've started Sam-e and a Super Beta Complex and the Jitters are unbearable. I take some Xanax and it helps some. I can't take much and still function.
The question is ... Is it the Sam-e or the Super B Complex causing the extreme jitters or anxiety?
I am heartsick about it and I find myself just wanting to take a pill and let that magical feeling take me away instead of dealing with the emotions of what is going on. I have a real problem with insomnia I went to the doctor last week and got Sonata for sleep and I asked for clonadine because I knew that I would be out of pills this week and would be having w/d sysptoms. He did not want to give me that he gave me klonapin instead.. I have not told him I have a problem with pills.
Anyway, when I took it to the pharmacy, all of the medications was controlled substances, percocet, sonata, and diclofenac. I was shcoked but the pharmacist tech already scanned it and I trust the FNP. I always go to this same pharmacy and never had a problem filling my prescriptions and my disabled problem. The pharmacist was even willing to fill the diclofenac at the time. I decline and told her I would pick them up Monday when all 3 were ready and I this didn't fill right.

I also had difficulty sleeping. My headaches would wake me up or I would wake up with one much worse. My doctor prescribed be Sonata which helps me sleep. This helps you get to sleep without becoming addicting like Ambien. I hope this helps!
When I was in college I had from time to time insomnia problems (2,3 days without sleeping) and a light depression. The doctor recommended zyprexa.Strangely, after taking zyprexa for 1,2 months, I wasn't able to learn anything for school and because of that I had a panic attack - didn't left house for a month - I can't understand how did it happen.
So, I've been taking zyprexa for 7 years. I want to quit now but I have little success.
I get these feelings also blurred vision dizzyness and weird sensations, had every test in the book only for them to say it's all anxiety and tried to put me on anyone depressents. I never took a pill went to see a natropath and iridoligist who has helped me immensly. Good luck . Drs is a good place to start but remember taking a pill only fixes the hole in the wall not the leak from the ceiling.
I am 4w 5 days. Im usually on an anxiety pill to help me sleep now that I am pregnant. My doctor suggested I take 50 mg of b6 and half a pill of unisom. Just curious how many have used b6 and unisom to help sleep and did it actually work?
I am so exusted, and can only lay in bed with the heating pad for my bladder,but,etc,I walk around and try to do somethings and then feel like Im gonna collaspe. I am sooo sleep deprived....Ive tried trazadone,sereoqol, melatonin, valerian, kava kava, sonata,abmbian and the cr one, lunesta, rozarom. I went to the emergancy room saturday afternoon b/c was about to lose my mind and I was in pain, They were very nice, I told the doctor everyting.
Anyway I have been with this replaced doctor for a yr and a half, I had been explaining to him that 2 vicaprofen in a 24 hour period is not sufficient he by the way had taken me off the motrin and changed my Xanax to Ativan. I also have been on sonata 10 mg for all these yrs. I was given a urine test which is pretty normal, before I took it I told him that there would prob. not be hydrocodone in it as we had been discussing that I needed more pain relief.
