Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.
Avatar m tn When I can take all of it, ninety five percent of the time I sleep within an hour or an hour and a half. Without the xanax it still works about half of the time. The trouble is that I have it from reliable sources that I'm going to wind up some sort of liver impaired invalid if it keeps up, and become even more of a burden to my already long suffering wife.
Avatar m tn , my primary doctor of 13 years retired from his practice, I am physically disabled. I have chronic hep c, diagnosed over a decade and a half ago. I have Ostheo Arthritus, of which my knee has been replaced, total hysterectomy, the list is long. My hep c is not contracted from iv use. I have been on several blood pressure medicines, hydrochlorthiazide, vicoprofen, Xanax, motrin 800, for those 13 years.
Avatar m tn Anyway, when I took it to the pharmacy, all of the medications was controlled substances, percocet, sonata, and diclofenac. I was shcoked but the pharmacist tech already scanned it and I trust the FNP. I always go to this same pharmacy and never had a problem filling my prescriptions and my disabled problem. The pharmacist was even willing to fill the diclofenac at the time. I decline and told her I would pick them up Monday when all 3 were ready and I this didn't fill right.
Avatar m tn I've searched the web and here and no really good answer. I'm taking a Sonata about 3 or 4 oclock in the morning. It does cause some jitters next day. Now I've started Sam-e and a Super Beta Complex and the Jitters are unbearable. I take some Xanax and it helps some. I can't take much and still function. The question is ... Is it the Sam-e or the Super B Complex causing the extreme jitters or anxiety?
Avatar f tn Sonata) can be hard to taper off due to their relatively short half life. Talk to your doctor about using a Dr Ashton style taper where you switch to valium & taper off that which should help minimize the side effects you experience. Your GABA receptors have become tolerant to these drugs & it won't get any better if you continue with them but you should be able to taper very slowly using valium without too much discomfort.

535882 tn?1396576685 whats the half life for syntriod. about how much time does it take to build up in you and also leave your system?
Avatar f tn I am depressed over this as well as postpartum issues and have just been put on Celexa for anxiety and depression as well as Sonata for sleep by a recommended psychiatrist. The Sonata is too short-acthing though. I called the doc on call but he does not want to prescribe anything stronger until tomorrow, if adding melatonin and/or benadryl does not help. I am currently wearing a holter monitor and have also worn en event monitor recently.
1084115 tn?1385228589 The mean half-life for multiple doses in the body is about 12 days, but very long-term kinetics are dominated by the kinetics of RBCs (half-life 40 days). RBCs store ribavirin for the lifetime of the cells, releasing it into the body's systems when old cells are degraded in the spleen.

Avatar f tn Have you tried Ambien or Sonata? I take Ambien (have been on it for about 4 years) - some nights it works well and others it's like I've taken a tic tac - but there are nights when nothing short of getting hit over the head with a hammer is going to help me sleep! I used to be on the CR version of the Ambien, until my insurance decided it wasn't going to cover that formula any longer, so now I'm back to the 10mg dose.
Avatar n tn P.S. My suggestion for your sleeplessness is to make good use of the time you are awake during the night. I get up and do something quietly in another part of the house so I do not disturb anyone else. I read or balance the check book, or put in a load of clothes in the washer. Or go online and e-mail my friends and relatives. I have the freedom of going back to bed later when I am able to fall asleep. My life has changed and will not be as it was before. I can't have that life back.
Avatar n tn Hi while I was in treatment I took ambien and it got me maybe 3 hours at most. I had lot trouble sleeping and if I did sleep it was for very short periods of time. I took ambein for the last 4 months of my treatment. when I finished I took 1/2 pill till it was gone. maybe for a week with no addition but everyone is different. I took my rib at around 3 pm in afternoon but that did not seem to help either.
Avatar f tn The half life of a chemical is the time it takes to break down become inactive. If the halflife is 10 hours then in 10 hours half the substance will be out of your system...in 10 more hours half of that..whick would be 25% would be left ..then in 10 more hrs 12.5 and so on . Hope it helps.
