8166105 tn?1396868458 Hi. Take a look at this article http://veterinarymedicine.dvm360.com/vetmed/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=608394&sk=&pageID=3 as it describes the ind of nebulizer your vet is probably talking about. It is common for pugs to have breathing difficulties, due to the extremely short muzzle (a genetic abnormality we humans have largely created through bad breeding).
1348686 tn?1310654243 I did post a question about alternative treatments for sinus infections in the sinus forum and I heard about the neti pot. I was just wondering if anyone has tried anything else to help clear up a sinus infection? I have had one for over a month now and 2 courses of antibiotics didn't help. I know that my allergies play a huge part in me getting these infections but this one doesn't seem to want to leave.
Avatar f tn When you turn the nebulizer, on exhale to the limit of possibility, then inhale from the nebulizer to the limt, take your mouth off the nebulizer and hold your breath as long as you can. Wait four minutes and do the same with two puffs of Atrovent (iatropium bromide). Atrovent (in some people) does not irritate the heart as much. The combination treatments reduce the incidence of tachycardia.
Avatar n tn i have a 2yr old on a nebulizer using albuterol and she has had nosebleads since she was hospitalized and given treatments. its been 2 days of treatments and she has a very sensative nose. i am going to stop the treatments after reading these post. thanks.
Avatar m tn Try getting a nebulizer so you can do breathing treatments at home. Hopefully that will keep it more under control. That's what I had to do when I was younger and first diagnosed with asthma. I found mine at www.vitalitymedical.
Avatar n tn Drs will typically give infants nebulizer treatments with a mask vs. an inhaler. Inhalers are usually more given to older toddlers and children. Does this help?
Avatar f tn my first time on Solumedrol and slept all day and all night. Once home, did the same thing for 2 weeks. Occasional nausea abut 3-4 times a week, using dissolvable Zofran which works almost instantly and is great. At April appt, doc said I was right where he expected, (labs I guess) and am due to see him again in September, he said I would feel much better by then. Next Lemtrada will be in February 2017 for 3 days and NO Solumedrol, am going back to Decadron.
Avatar f tn Yes I have asthma I was taking prednisone, my emergency inhaler, my daily inhaler, and nebulizer treatments. But when I got further along in my pregnancy the only thing im supposed to do regularly is use my inhalers and its important to stick to them if you have low oxygen or alot of attacks it can make you go into pre term labor.
Avatar f tn when i took her to vet on the 21st, vet advised me to put her down, that wasnt an option for me, so we put her on oxygen the 21st along with albuterol breathing treatments, and antibiotics, she got 100% better, last night had her out of the oxygen tent for like 8 hours, all of a sudden she started gasping real bad again, how long should she be under oxygen tent but to only take her out when feeding? Is there something else we should try? Is she ever gonna completly get over this?
Avatar m tn For the past week i have been having extreme difficulties with my asthma and no matter what i do or where i go nothing is working, my albuterol solution and iprotrium bromide for the nebulizer, my albuterol sulfate inhaler, anti-allergen medications, even herbal treatments nothing is working at all, i have frequented my doctor he says my lungs sound clear and my oxygen blood level is reading good, however there is a tightness in my left lung and its hard to breathe, im having to use the nebulize
Avatar f tn If you've had a neck fusion, the swallowing issue is because of the tube that is placed in your mouth to make sure your airway stays open & you don't choke. The swelling goes down eventually but it's annoying & takes time. Be patient I truly understand as I have the same issue as I had a 2nd Neck Fusion on April 1st (not an April Fool's joke). I am Asthmatic so I use inhalers & a nebulizer for breathing treatments. It helps a lot.
Avatar n tn At the emergency room and urgent care facilities they treated her with a nebulizer, these treatments gave immediate relief, but the problem soon returned during that night after returning home. She has been put on steroids (prendisone) at two different times. With our most recent visit to our pediatrician she was taken off the last dose of prendisone. The doctors conclusion was that there must be some sort of stress that's causing the problem.
749318 tn?1233191768 First of all I was surprised I thought that I would be at my relative healthiest during this time, but obviously I was wrong, Now they want me to go on a three day run of iv solumedrol treatments and I am wondering if anyone has an experience or knowledge of such issues.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I don't know why I wheeze on exhale all the time after taking azithromycin for 6 weeks and having a bad 8 week flu even the inhaled steroids don't really help I'm on an asv and oxygen for sleep apnea but it doesn't seem to be that effective. I've tried MANY settings- does anyone know a good ASV setting like should you go with a higher more uncomfortable epap and ps max/min to reduce AHI?
Avatar n tn Just this month, we bought the jet nebulizer to give him the treatments and he hates it just as much as he did when we were in the hospital. They clearly said that he wouldn't get as much medicine if he had a soother or a bottle in his mouth. They actually liked the fact that he would scream and cry because this increases the amount of med he gets.
1047522 tn?1258145704 While you are fixing the NOTES section to accommodate more text under TEST RESULTS, could you expand that to include any area in the PHR that allows us to input any additional data. Could you also add a TREATMENTS tab? This would be helpful for those with asthma to keep track of how often they have to use their rescue inhaler or nebulizer and would help people undergoing chemotherapy to keep track of the number of times they receive transfusions of platelets, PRBCs, etc.
Avatar m tn also how long do the treatments last in the hospital if taken in the hospital one diagnosed an starting any kind of IV treatment? This discussion is related to Very Nervous about MS.
559187 tn?1330782856 I have only had one experience with the solumedrol and it was like a miracle! I had sudden double vision and trouble walking. I saw the neuro the next day (Friday) and he got me on solumedrol the following Monday. I was on for 5 days in a row. By the end of the third day the double vision was gone and by the end of the fourth day I could read again! I still, two months later, have a little residual nystagmus in my right eye and I need the cane when out and about, but not around the house.
Avatar f tn They will check your blood oxygen level and if you need the help they will give you breathing treatments and possibly a nebulizer to bring home. (My apologies on the spelling.
5615074 tn?1378316840 But i also get that dry throat feeling when I have heartburn lol so for that taking two Tums works wonders for me...
Avatar f tn I woke up the other day with a cluster of bruises near my armpit. There are at least 15 of them and I haven't injured myself. Googling just gets me more anxious because for the last few months I've been wheezing, a lot of coughing and having trouble breathing without 2x day nebulizer treatments. Also my whole body has been itching this week but especially my arms.
4848471 tn?1372238752 He said I needed three days of solumedrol at 1000 mg each day to close my blood brain barrier and selected Tysabri as the MS drug I will be taking. Frankly, I am more frightened of solumedrol than I am Tysabri,JC virus notwithstanding. So far, I have tried to load up on potassium,a few other basic electrolytes and he told me to get some Pepcid ac to protect my stomach lining. he called me and we discussed that part and he said,"now we're ready to roll.
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply. No, the only symptoms are the hair growth, and it's shown up after extended nebulizer treatments each time. We had an appointment with an endocrinologist, but her pediatrician said it was not necessary after the blood work came back and everything was normal. Obviously we'll discuss this with her doctor again. I'm very concerned about this side effect.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone I start on my IV treatment for 5 days this Thursday, with 500mg of Solumedrol, I am worried about it, can anyone tell me what side affects i may experience, and how to prepare for it, and can i go to work right after the Treatment, thanks Tyler
Avatar n tn My husband recently finished a five day treatment of solumedrol. He has been sweating terribly, through a sheet and mattress pad. Is this a common side effect? Also he is sooooooo moody, how long does this last? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn He has been on everything imaginable from Flovent, alvesco, to singular and nasal sprays, albulteral treatments, predinisone(oral) and now nebulizer treatments(duo neb and pulmacort). He has an asthma specialist which is great but I feel there is something he is missing. My son has been through multiple tests to check for allegeries and cystic fibrosis and all were negative.
