solumedrol how it works

ve been on lyrica for almost two years 150mg twice a day for diabetic neuropathy. It works really well. I was on gabapentin 300 twice a day until i got used to it. I hope it works for you. I had my first dose of solumedrol for the first time for facial swelling, rash etc.

I am trying to decide whether I want to do the 2nd round of Solumedrol. It made me feel horrible and was a miserable 4 or 5 days. I guess my question is whether the 2nd round would be beneficial at this point or if the lingering effects are something I am going to have to deal with from now on. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

@ Bob...I wondered what Pulse Therapy was. My doc had mentioned it...but I never gave it a second thought. It is true, you do learn something new every day. And yes...the old lesions have been doing what they do on and off for over a year. Stress brings them all back in a hurry! I'm just hopeful this ACTH works, the IVSM handed me my butt on a platter! I'm still recouping from them and they ended a week ago. @ Sumana, I really do hope the Tysabri works for you!

Shay, could you please clarify how your steroid therapy was ordered? How much prednisone did you take each day? For how many days at each dose? Was 1250mg your daily dose or was that the total dose contained in the course? Did you take it every day or every other day? It is hard to tell what you could have expected without more information. Are you diagnosed with MS? Was this your first time on steroids? What type of symptoms are you having?

I had a 5 day treatment of solumedrol in July, it worked that fast for me, by the end of the week I felt like a whole different person.

Put on the brakes! Osteoarthritis for how long? It went wild a few years before my first MS attack. My PCP treated it with lots of different NSAIDS and THREE OF THEM landed on my ALLERGY LIST back when I was getting hives regularly.

I was negative for it on several screening tests and also my spinal fluid was negative for it. Thinking that I had an autoimmune disease, my doctor put me on oral steroids (so a lower dose than IV). I felt very strange while on the steroids, but after completing the course I started to feel great, and about 99% of my symptoms resolved.

LOL on the indoor plumbing thingy........ I'm getting there, thanks for asking......Most of the numbness is gone, but has been replaced with hummmmmmmmmming..I lost like 8 lbs in 3 days and finally was able to stand for more than 5 minutes....(hence, the long shower...) My son is VERY happy.... I know I shouldn't whine or complain, but that Solumedrol was horrid! I hope it might get easier if I have to do that ever again.....

You just have to find out what works for you and stick with it. I've been cheating right now because of solumedrol, but the points thing has worked for me...50 pounds (until this solumedrol, probably popped up a bit). For me it helps to remember I'm doing this to prevent diabetes like my mother had...not doing it for ego. :) I love to snack and have learned the kinds of snacks that work for me and don't wreck my diet. When I started, I tried to look at each 1/2 pound as a victory.

my first time on Solumedrol and slept all day and all night. Once home, did the same thing for 2 weeks. Occasional nausea abut 3-4 times a week, using dissolvable Zofran which works almost instantly and is great. At April appt, doc said I was right where he expected, (labs I guess) and am due to see him again in September, he said I would feel much better by then. Next Lemtrada will be in February 2017 for 3 days and NO Solumedrol, am going back to Decadron.

I Just ordered off this site called withdrawal-ease.com and it's $89 for 2 bottles one for night time and one for day. Th Thomas recipe isn't helping me. I was going to order te amino acid protocol but I got everything into my cart on GNC.com and it was $150!! And it was missing 2 items they didn't carry it. So it will be here in 2-3 days. I will have to go back and see if I can find that one. It was really interesting. Seems to be all upside down in the way it works as to the way you would think it did. I alwasys thought when stocks were way up, it was a good thing. I will have to see if I can find it or the link to it so ya all can have a look see.

so, have you done this? did it help with your symptoms and was that help completely obvious to you? is it worth it?

I am currently being treated with 1 gm Solumedrol once/month. I had a three day course last spring and felt AWFUL afterwards. I did eventually feel a bit better overall, so maybe it was worth it. Even the one day dose makes me feel pretty lousy. My sx actually seem to get worse for a few days afterward! I'm not dx, but symptomatically fit the diagnostic criteria (we'll see what the 3T MRI has to say...

You guys can probably guess the course of steroids, but it was three days of IV SoluMedrol, followed by a 14-day tapering off with oral prednisone, of which I'm still taking. My question is, when will my normal (or near normal) vision return?

This is the first time that I have ever had any symptoms in my legs. It felt heavy/sleepy and I could move it just fine, just had to think about it. It is better this morning! What does this indicate?

These are the same problems I have with Solumedrol. Diabetics have a hard time with Solumedrol and it seems that insulin or diabetic pills, cannot work hard enough to get high blood sugar levels down. Here where we live in Virginia, they will not do a treatment, if your blood sugar level is about 200. This is a good drug, but very hard on someone that is prone to high blood pressure and high blood sugar.

Is it possible? My fatigue and balance are actually worse since being on the SoluMedrol 2 weeks ago.

I have frequent urination with solumedrol too. It is usually a few days after my first infusion. Thankfully it is only one day of running to the bathroom. I feel like I retain water from the iv and it all decides to come out in one day!
