It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.

I had a 4 day Solumedrol drip and then step down pack in February and it made me worse. All my muscles tightened up and I have more pain than I did before. Call it a major fibromyalgia attack. Even now in May, I am still as stiff and woozy as i was after the glucocorticoid therapy. Sigh. Did nothing for me that I can tell. I did sweat a lot during the treatment so maybe i lost a few toxins?

I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.

I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.

decided to quit taking it on a monday felt fine all week untill sun when i went into serious withdrawl! so as far as half life im not sure? but you can bet i was back on it mon! so i guess it was in my system for 6 days after i stopped. p.s.

?? Does anyone know the Half life of SUBOXONE - Beprenorphine.? I HEARD it was 70 hours, but that's what I heard....unsure if that is even accurate?

Sister had ITP, platelet count 2 when found. Hospitalized & given IV solumedrol in massive doses which saved her life. On prednisone after for a while. She can handle the diabetes connection. Unfortunately, continues to have psychotic effects almost 2 years later: voices & people when none there, bouts of extreme anxiety and multiple other symptoms. Acts as if suddenly struck with alzheimers. Can this be from the solumedrol IV & then prednisonne?

I am currently being treated with 1 gm Solumedrol once/month. I had a three day course last spring and felt AWFUL afterwards. I did eventually feel a bit better overall, so maybe it was worth it. Even the one day dose makes me feel pretty lousy. My sx actually seem to get worse for a few days afterward! I'm not dx, but symptomatically fit the diagnostic criteria (we'll see what the 3T MRI has to say...

I had my first course of solumedrol Friday-Tuesday. Last night (Thursday night) I began needing to urinate every 30-60 minutes. Not like tons and tons. But also not my bladder fooling me. And it continues today! I can't get a hold of my @$&#%& neurologist. So of course my question is whether this happens with steroids. Anybody?

Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?

just last week I started having ridiculous trouble with my right legs/hips/knees and am walking with am limp and wanting to drag that leg..am STARTING DAY 3 of solumedrol and feeling slightly improved but the pain/difficulty walking has moved from hip to knee to ankle on the right side. my question is..will this go away or will it remain? does it sound like spacticity? Do I need to see an orthopedist? PT? meds? talk with the neuro?? any advice??

These are the same problems I have with Solumedrol. Diabetics have a hard time with Solumedrol and it seems that insulin or diabetic pills, cannot work hard enough to get high blood sugar levels down. Here where we live in Virginia, they will not do a treatment, if your blood sugar level is about 200. This is a good drug, but very hard on someone that is prone to high blood pressure and high blood sugar.

When I saw my MS specilaist for my once a year visit, he recommended that I take 2 days of solumedrol each monthe while I am off the betaseron trying to conceive dear child #3. Well I have proof as of today that we failed this month. This us much more of a letdown than I expected. I as sure it is because I don't want to take the steroids again. I feel bad for days and days after, and I am starting to hadt what it makes me look like. Should I to the iv's or not?

So today is 2nd day of solumedrol, plus about 3 other IV meds, for migranes and nausea. Tomorrow is my last day, and it will b 6 hours. As I am in the middle of the infusion, my PCP calls, and tells me my chest xray from yesterday shows pnemonia. Ok, so solumedrol with pnemonia.. I am no doc, but pretty sure that is not a good mix. I started with this chest infection about 5 days ago. Always something. I need to sleep, that might help.

ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....

About 2 weeks later i got chills and my hands started to itch uncontrollably followed later by hives in random places (no pattern to where they were) but mainly arms, stomach, and scalp. I think heroin has a half life of 4-8 hrs, and methadown 20-36hrs, i understand that it takes 36hrs for half the drug dose to leave your body, but theres only 2 day deference between the two drugs but methadown takes months to kick and heroin weeks. thats the part i dont understand but theres only 2 day deference between the two. anyone with knowledge please try in a laymen terms to explain. thanks for any help in advance.

ve been battling a major exacerbation. Had 3 days soluMedrol IV and while my legs could once again hold me, still alot of other stuff I'm dealing with such as increased pain, crushing fatigue, brain fogs. Saw neuro today and he is putting me on ritalin 5 mg twice a day for the fatigue. I'm a little nervous about that but I read the archives and sounds like it might help. I had been on copaxone for a year and a half and had to stop for huge welts.
