I had enormous hair loss about 5 months after starting Avonex. It did not grow back after stopping the drug, so I'm thinking that it wasn't a causal thing. My mom lost a lot of hair as she aged so it might have been just my time. Also know that we all go through times of predominant hair loss and times of predominant hair gain every year. The thyroid is the first thinkg I would have checked out.

Well now, I don't know the answer. Have been on Avonex for several years and my hair is as thick as ever, which is pretty thick. I didn't even know that hair loss can occur with Avonex. I've never had IVSM, but I Googled intravenous solumedrol hair loss and got a lot of matches. I'm not sure how reliable any of them are, so take a look but reserve judgment. Anyone else out there with hair loss on any of the interferons? Or solumedrol?

Hello there, I have been on Copaxone for 2.5 years....and I did have hair loss begining of this year...I didn't even think it may be Copaxone...I just cut my hair really short....have been eating very healthy lately...so my hair is growing back pretty thick again.... Not much help, ha?!

Help! I've had numbness on left side of face and complete loss of hearing in left ear (except for a high pitched ringing) for 4 weeks. I had vertigo for the first 2 weeks. Planning on starting solumedrol i.v. as soon as a bladder infection is cleared up. Has anyone lost hearing during an exacerbation?

I will start with a quick update. Since I have posted my last post I have had a full spinal MRI on a 1.5T. ( the radiologist was a total jerk when I asked what magnet was in the machine) They ordered this because I was falling. Since then I have had burning sensation and sharp like pains that feel like nerves bursting thats quite painful and muscle spasms have started to move my finger. (very creepy) Well I went to my hair dresser tonight and she told me my hair is FALLING OUT!

Rebif can cause hair loss -- it did for me, starting around 6-8 weeks after I started Rebif. Hair loss lasted about 3-4 months. Also: thyroid issues can cause hair loss -- and Rebif can affect thyroid function. So get your TSH, free T3 & T4 bloodwork done -- every few months while on Rebif. I take Zinc & biotin (as well as vit D & fish oil) to help with hair loss.

Four months later I am still having side effects such as back pain, concentration loss,severe muscle loss, extreme thinning of the skin, headaches, body aches and irritability. Are these permanent, and how long does it take to completely leave your system? Is there a way to rid your body of this poison?

Now, the steroids won;t change the outcome, any loss of vision, but they usually will relieve the acute pain. Take care of yourself. When you see your neuro she will order the steroids anyway, likely.

Hi T- Did you have any reaction to the first 11 Tysabri infusions? I=Did you also have the IV Solumedrol each time? Generally speaking things like rashes are not associated with MS. I wonder of you had some reaction to the steroids.

These are the same problems I have with Solumedrol. Diabetics have a hard time with Solumedrol and it seems that insulin or diabetic pills, cannot work hard enough to get high blood sugar levels down. Here where we live in Virginia, they will not do a treatment, if your blood sugar level is about 200. This is a good drug, but very hard on someone that is prone to high blood pressure and high blood sugar.

Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?

I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.

I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.

my sister (24) was diagnosed Multiple Sclerosis in 2010, responded to steroid. now she suffered sudden & complete loss of vision in her left eye. she has been put on SOLUMEDROL. please suggest any available treatment modalities world over ? chances of return of vision ??

Low iron levels can cause hair loss. You might want to get that checked.

I'm losing hair too. Not in clumps but I clog the drain once a week from my hair loss. And all my friends said their hair was so full and healthy during pregnancy and after lost some. I get a ball of hair during evey wash and its not normal for me also my scalp itches like crazy and I don't have bugs lol o had my husband check lol!

I actually posted about this a month or so ago. I have hair loss that really started post Tx. My hair didn't grow hardly at all during Tx, than about 6 weeks post Tx it really started falling out, probably lost 50%. Everyone says it should grow back fine after 6 months post Tx. On a 12 week treatment with peg , ribavirin and sovaldi should I experience hair loss ? I am a hairstylist with very long thick hair ,still planning on working . Not planning to tell clients about treatment ,mostly due to fear they will not understand . How much hair loss should I expect?
