solumedrol

Avatar f tn Just a quick update. Finished steroids yesterday and slept better last night. Blood glucose quite high but told this is normal and they will check in 2 weeks to see if it comes down. Not back to work full time as taking it slow. Im sure in 2 weeks I will feel back to my normal self. Just so glad I decided to take the steroids.
195469 tn?1388322888 Thanks for letting me know that this happened to someone else. My daughter Cheryl, has a horrible time with the Solumedrol. Her blood glucose levels went in the high 400's and her blood pressure shot through the roof. These are the same problems I have with Solumedrol. Diabetics have a hard time with Solumedrol and it seems that insulin or diabetic pills, cannot work hard enough to get high blood sugar levels down.
Avatar m tn ) The thirst and increased water consumption (and increased urination that follow) are frequent side effects with steroid therapy even if the body can maintain a fairly level blood glucose level. You just have to be careful that the kidneys can handle the extra load and the body doesn't deplete itself of electrolytes.
400099 tn?1282954864 I've only had problems with blood sugars when I'm on IV-SM too. Wondering if there really is a connection though.
5538989 tn?1514398453 I found the forum a couple of months ago when searching if Copaxone increases blood sugars. The thread I found was from 2008. My sugars have been so under control and no AIC's over 5.4. I was off meds for a month after my the delivery of my daughter and was still so under control that my PCP decided not to refill my Rx. After 3 months of Copaxone my morning fasting sugar is still high anywhere from 120-150.
900662 tn?1469390305 ve been cheating right now because of solumedrol, but the points thing has worked for me...50 pounds (until this solumedrol, probably popped up a bit). For me it helps to remember I'm doing this to prevent diabetes like my mother had...not doing it for ego. :) I love to snack and have learned the kinds of snacks that work for me and don't wreck my diet. When I started, I tried to look at each 1/2 pound as a victory.
1172359 tn?1310667693 I am scheduled Monday to do an IV for three days of Solumedrol. Has anyone else done that and if so, what is your opinion. I am alittle nervous about it.
Avatar m tn i have a PICC line as I have been going through a 2 mnth relapse with my MS and I finally gave in and went to the hospital....of course it is solumedrol pumping through it but its way different than when I had an IV port last year...question though; I feel so dizzy and have feelings l want to pass out at times even though I don't pass out. is it because of the PICC with solumedrol that is giving me a different experience?
721523 tn?1331581802 Hello all. Every time that i take solumedrol, I get a blue "halo" looking bruise around my iris. This time I got the typical bruise, but now that I have completed the taper down on prednasone, I have blood pooling in the whites of my eyes. it looks rather disturbing. has anyone else had this? I was wondering if I should call my opthomologist tomorrow and see if she could squeese me in.
Avatar m tn With lemon juice, t2 diabetics can digest food easier without risking elevated glucose levels or putting their glucose levels at risk. So go ahead and enjoy those lemons.
Avatar f tn Sheesh, this is 2nd exacerbation within 6 months...more solumedrol in 2 weeks.

Avatar f tn Searching, I found you and am excited that there is a group that may actually be able to answer some of my questions. The first thing he wants to do is put me on solumedrol for 5 days, I am not currently in a flair. Any reason I should put myself through that if I am not currently having symptoms?
Avatar f tn I know steroids can make you susceptible to infections, but has anyone developed a UTI on solumedrol? I had the unmistakable first inklings of one a bit ago. I rushed out for cranberry juice and a blueberry smoothie (blueberries are supposed to have the same effect as cranberries, and it's a good excuse for a fruit smoothie!!) and I'm hoping I can keep it at bay this way, but I guess I'll know in a few hours. These things tend to come on fast for me.
Avatar n tn Hello, A diet that includes fruits, vegetables, fiber-containing foods, and low-fat milk is advised. Consumption of foods with a low glucose levels appears to reduce postprandial glucose rise and improve glycemic control. Reduced calorie and nonnutritive sweeteners(better avoided in epileptics) are useful.
Avatar n tn IVSM without the taper is called "Pulse Therapy." In theory, it can prevent a flare. It does this by preventing the inflammation of the endothelium on the interior of the blood vessels. This inflammation is the "breakdown" in the Blood Brain Barrier that allows WBCs to leak through and attack the myelin. If they can keep the BBB from leaking, no new lesions. That is the rub.
Avatar n tn I'm a ftm and I'm still really early at 8w2d. Last Friday I had my first appointment and had a lot of blood work done which is normal but I'm getting the tests back with not a lot of explanation. Its making me a little nervous. The thing that worries me the most is that the glucose test came out about 5 points high and I have to go in for the 3 hour glucose test. Has anyone had this happen and ended up not having anything wrong? I'm fearing the worst and hoping for the best.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER not long ago and I was told I had very high blood sugar, I had not eaten anything for more than 8 hours other than toast.
97654 tn?1214348650 ve had a horrible experience with Solumedrol as well.....Back in March I had extreme leg and groin numbness and went on IV Solumedrol for 3 days....I had a nasty reaction to it, but it DID take away the numbness and vision problems almost immediately....Well, within 48 hours anyway..... In May the left side of my head and face went numb and because I was visiting the MS Clinic at that time, I declined the Solumedrol treatment.....That numbness didn't go away for 20 days.....
Avatar f tn I have been monitoring my blood sugars at home since at a doctor visit my fasting glucose was 135. Every morning in the past week I have taken it (on empty stomach) it has been in the 130's, only one time it was 114. All throughout the day it is between 129 and 158, sometimes it is 192, 263. I had blood drawn today for A1c, should get the results in a couple of days. I am wondering if these numbers are normal, or do I have a problem?
1740498 tn?1328962585 I had my first course of solumedrol Friday-Tuesday. Last night (Thursday night) I began needing to urinate every 30-60 minutes. Not like tons and tons. But also not my bladder fooling me. And it continues today! I can't get a hold of my @$&#%& neurologist. So of course my question is whether this happens with steroids. Anybody?
Avatar n tn In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
