Skelaxin medication

Common Questions and Answers about Skelaxin medication

skelaxin

Avatar m tn Neither Skelaxin (metaxalone) nor Celebrex (celecoxib) cause dependence. Your body will not crave either medication. You will not develop tolerance to either medication, nor will you suffer withdrawal symptoms in their absence. The usual dose of Skelaxin is 800mg every 6 to 8 hours (three or four times a day). Do not exceed the maximum daily dose, and don't mix Skelaxin with alcohol, barbiturates, or other CNS depressants.
Avatar f tn Having some very bad lower back pain today that tylenol isn't touching. I was wondering about Skelaxin. I have some and have taken it in the past...but don't even remember side effects or how I felt taking it or anything. Is this addictive?Anybody know anything about it? Thanks!
Avatar m tn My doc just gave me Skelaxin for my back pain and said it might help. I have been trying to cut back taking hydro and I don't want to take anything that is going to make me woosey. I started into therapy last week and it is really making my back hurt. The nurosurgeon I saw said I have from L-1 to S-1 messed up and he does not think surgery would help any. So he just said take the hydro because your not taking that many (only 3 a day 7.
Avatar m tn Anyone know anything about skelaxin? My doc just sent a script for that To my pharmacy in place of soma....
676302 tn?1237863491 In my experience I have found Soma to be helpful as well as Skelaxin. I would have a talk with your doctor and see what he/she suggests. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn I don't think that amount of wine alone would elevate you enzymes but with the drugs you're taking I really don't know. I believe that Skelaxin may be associated with elevated liver enzymes is some people but again, I am not sure of this. I would Google all of the drugs you're taking with the word "liver" or "hepatic" eg "Skelaxin Liver".
Avatar f tn t take during the day,as I have small kids and it made me VERY sleepy!) Then I was put on Skelaxin and I feel like that does nothing( 800mg. 3x day) I could take 2 at one time and still...nothing? I think I'm going to ask to go back on Flexeril(for bed time) to reduce my pain and spasms) Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have taken muscle relaxers, migraine meds, prednisone (6 days) and more and more Skelaxin. I started seeing a neurologist two weeks ago and he put me on the prednisone and skelaxin he also did a MRI (w/o contrast) that came back negative.
Avatar f tn oh and broke down and took a muscle relaxer. skelaxin. this shouldn't be a problem right? found an old script. ibuprofen was not cutting it.
Avatar n tn ve had been doctor experiences and am suffering from lingering bitterness. As for skelaxin, I have never had that medication do any good for me. I can't tell any difference between taking it or not taking it. I like zanaflex better. it actually does help spasms for me. If you are unable to do your physical therapy, are you doing at least he range of motion activites and having the ultrasound done? I have never had luck with active physical therapy and uually end up losing range of motion.
493368 tn?1209757681 I was diagnosed at age 16, and have been on several powerful medications. Skelaxin and Relafin are two which have helped most, but go to a doctor and explain the pain you are experiencing to them! If they are a good doctor at all, they will help you to alleviate the pain with a mix of medication and physical therapy as they did with me. I wish you the best.
Avatar m tn My pain clinic is no longer writing for soma. I have had flexeril, robaxin, skelaxin before and they aren't as effective. What can I try?
Avatar f tn Hi, I started taking ultram for multiple vehicle injuries. Ultram didn't work, they tried Tylenol3, tylenol3 didn't work they tried hydrocodone, that didn't work..so they tried percoset 5/325 6X a day. I got used to that dose now im on 7.5/325 6x a day. The more I NEED them. The more I want them. I am definitely addicted but it is not a good addiction. I get very mean, and emotionless over nothing. I go to physical therapy 3x a week. So it is all legit.
Avatar f tn an opiate is not the main medication for treatment. Most patients are on a nerve pain medication like Lyrica, Neurontin, or Cymbalta. These target specific nerve pain which is your main source of pain with the herniated discs and sciatic nerve pain. An opiate does not work well for this. Same thing with having a muscle relaxer to take as needed. Flexeril, Skelaxin, Robaxin, Baclofen, or Zanaflex. This is very useful for those times with bad muscle spasms... Again...
Avatar m tn The muscle relaxer the dr gave me is Skelaxin. Anybody else ever try this. I read on drug ******* the reviews and some people said it really helped without making them dizzy like most of them do. Man I sure hope it helps so I can keep weening off the hydros.
Avatar m tn There are two issues you are struggling with; one being tolerance, where any pain medication will slowly lose effectiveness, and the other being the anatomical source of the pain. Any relief from a narcotic (oxycodone, hydrocodone, demerol etc) will, be shot-lived; The receptors for pain medication in your brain simply adjust to whatever you are taking, and the dose must be increased to relieve the pain again. At some point you will run out of room to keep going up on the dose.
450140 tn?1317947304 Today, my neuro suggested i try SKELAXIN (muscle relaxer) for the spasams I am experiencing. I will start those tomorrow. It says take 3x a day, every 8 hours. And if need be a 4th one can be taken. Does this sound right ........every 8 hours?? Please tell me what you think. I pray that everyone is doing ok. This limboland is really taking its toll on me and my family. Have not worked since Jan. that is putting a strain on us finacially. Not to mention, all the worry about my health.
Avatar n tn I have had some kind of cold/flu, sinusitis (all in one) for about three weeks. Finally I went to the doctor she prescribes antibiotics, anticough medicine etc. I also developed somehow a muscle spams around my neck aparently due to excesive coughing. The pain became the worst ever to the point of tears. The doctor prescribed skelaxin 800mg, it didn't help, then I added 400mg Advil.. The pain somehow got better, but still there. So Went for Motrin 800mg with Skelaxin, didn't help.
Avatar m tn You have plenty of other medication choices to move to and see if this helps. Oxycodone is the next medication up or even Oxycontin in a low dosage like 10mg twice a day as this would be a bit higher strength than what you are taking now but would give you more steady pain relief throughout the day. Oxycontin is just plain Oxycodone in a long acting formula. You are also on a very low dosage of the Gabapentin. It can be dosed all the way up to 3600mg a day.
Avatar f tn As the result of a back injury in February, I began taking Soma and 10 mgs of hydrocodone at night to help me sleep. I took no pain killers during the day, just Skelaxin. I stopped taking Skelaxin several weeks ago and am now in the process of discontinuing the Hydrocodone. I took the last Soma and 1/2 of a 5 mg tablet several nights ago. This is my second round with trying to get off this med. The problem is the insomnia or sleeplessness that occurs in the middle of the night.
402205 tn?1230481005 I will try to avoid them right now tho because they make me sluggish and I am already fatigued with my cut in dose of hydrocodne..anything can be abused...skelaxin is a fairly safe muscle relaxer.....
Avatar m tn Felt bump and determined was musculoskeletal. Prescribed anti-inflammatory (Naproxen) and muscle relaxer (Skelaxin). Told me to take as needed (didn’t have to take the full bottle). Took prescriptions for 4 days, Skelaxin caused stomach cramping even when taken as directed. Urine test came back cloudy with high white blood cell count. Concluded was very dehydrated and sent off for tests to determine if infection was present. Also had me go in for blood tests.
585414 tn?1288941302 s and Catscans were done). I am on Methocarb, Skelaxin and Flexaril and Klonopin which even at maximum doses provide only limited control as well as a natural remedy rhodiola, which is in clinical study but as it is not isolated as a compound can provide only limited relief. I was unable to tolerate all anti Parkinsonian agents because they enduced psychosis as well as alpha blockers such as Clonidine because they enduced suicidal ideations.
